If Tesco Ashby is the barometer of public opinion, people think the pandemic is over.

We dropped in to do a mini-shop on our way back from holiday a couple of hours ago, and counted 20 or so adults not wearing facemasks, and none of the three people entering the store in front of us took advantage of the sanitising station.

I’m moving to Ashby

Your masochism is noted for future reference.

It was just an observation, and not an attempt to wind anybody up.

The contrast between what we observed in Cornwall over the previous few days and our first stop following a 300 mile drive was quite striking. While on holiday we travelled extensively on public transport, went in bars, went in shops and it was quite a rarity to see people in crowded environments not wearing masks, not making at least a token gesture towards social distancing or not generally respecting others so we felt 'relatively safe'. The bars were still insisting upon the use of QR code check-in, little shops were still limiting numbers and so on. Ashby seemed to be a free-for-all, with people shouting at assistants because there were no bloody cucumbers, for goodness sake.

The irony of the last part is that the two stout individuals giving the assistant a hard time looked as though they'd never seen a salad in the last 30 years.

Perhaps they wanted the cucumber for the old bloke who just walked in in a mask which couldn’t cover his scowl and drown out the tutting ?

positive news

UK coronavirus cases
Last Thursday: 48,553
Yesterday: 39,906

Last Friday: 51,870
Today: 36,389

I don't get those figures. There are four or five places I keep an eye on , for the cases per 100,000 number. All of them have gone up very fast over the past 7 days.

Ashby might be the Pole of Inconsiderate Stupidity

Just out of interest did you check how many if any , all , or any number in between were exempt from wearing mask ? Willing to bet the answer is no and you will not have a clue what that says regards what you feel is acceptable behaviour to others??‍♂️

How do you not have a smartphone, these days that’s like admitting you don’t have a pair of lungs, especially at your age.

Not one of these doing everything not to be tracked by the government are you?

Nah, because I'm really badly dyspraxic I didn't bother as I struggle with touch screens and stuff ? It definitely marks me out as a bit of a weirdo though

Of course I’m sure you didn’t mean YOU felt safe as opposed to you felt you were altruistically keeping them safe??,,

sorry of course it’s a two way thing ,no selfishness at all

Basically the very high concentration required has other side effects on the lungs.

Ivermectin has has some success elsewhere in the world but have never really been studied properly - fortunately, it now is being so we'll have some more definitive results in the near future.

I'm not sure what is going on here, very contradictory reports.  This is worth a listen. This researcher claims the meta-analysis is clear that it is safe and effective. Very odd.

Also, bear in mind that there are different standards being applied to the use of the vaccine. It already seems to have a poor safety record in comparison.

This is encouraging. We need to shift the focus to treatments and other preventative measures so that we have more options.

I suggested a while ago that people might delete the T&T app. Hey presto, no contact tracing, hey presto no new cases. Deleting the app in itself is not a huge problem (it was reported that some firms insist upon that) if the same people are regularly self-testing and taking the appropriate action.

Has it? I don't that is proven at all.

Indeed that is what the trial is for if you read the BBC article.

Appears your suggestions arent always correct, despite what you may believe!

Also no contact tracing? Are you sure?
