But to play it to a defender near the edge of the box when there are loads of Northampton players around is foolish. Simply play it beyond them to maybe two thirds of our half. At Northampton Roos would play it to a defeneder, who would then play it to another defender, and another, until there was no way out because our defenders aren't ball players. Then they would play the ball back to Roos who then kicked it long, meaning we have just wasted two or three minutes, put ourselves at risk of losing the ball, and by now all our outfield players are marked up. So why not play it out long straight away? Especially as doing so will stop Northampton pressing as high, and not being sure how we are going to play the ball. And if Northampton have players around our area when Roos has the ball, they are already being drawn out in order for them to be near our area.
