Fairly predictable double downing...

He doesn’t believes he did anything wrong. He believes he didn’t even break the spirit of the law/rules. He graciously allows others to disagree if they wish - but he believes the reason for people’s criticism over the past few days is due to media coverage and their ‘false stories’.

The only part of the story he really seems to be disputing is that he didn't go back to Durham. Pretty much the rest of it seems to be true.

Do you think people should apologise to him for the threats he’s had and the targeting of his family and house.

He could have done this about a week ago? Nobody deserves threatening behaviour, it really did not need to come to this situation though. He broke his own rules. If the government actually had some guts, admit his mistake and apologise, this was a very minor news story. Why is this difficult for the powers at be to admit a genuine mistake?

'....there was so much confusion about so many matters that the PM and I decided the best thing we could do was come out...'

Now we get to the truth ?

*DISCLAIMER - it's may or may not be the case that I may have removed the context of these words for comedic purposes, but at the time and having weighed up many considerations, it seemed like the best course of action at the time.

Someone should ask "what should a family do where parents have corona symptoms and kids need looking after, but there is no one they can ask for help"?

Then ask why he didn't do the same.

If he hadn't have gone into the Woods with his Wife some 5 years ago all this wouldn't have happened.

And we wonder why we have the second highest number of deaths of COVID 19, when we have this chap calling the shots on communications.

He does not deserve death threats, however he must take some responsibility for his actions.

No. If you believe him, that's up to you. I want answers and the only way to get those is with the press doing their job.

They don’t do their job properly they point score and try and humiliate people often with untrue stories.

Even if going to Durham was reasonable and legal, and that's a HUGE 'if':

How is sitting by a river for 15 minutes in that same category? Or 'having a play' with his wife and kid after they stopped off for a piss? Those two acts have absolutely nothing to do with taking care of his child, and are the kind of actions that have seen widespread condemnation by the government and the public over the last few weeks.

He’s made Johnson look feeble but his ego is such considering resigning wouldn’t occur to him, he see’s himself as a kingmaker who is bulletproof and above being accountable to anyone.

It's a car crash statement. What are they thinking?

No apology.

No contrition.

More tories will now come out to say he should be sacked. And the situation will escalate more.

For the person is charge of communications, he understands so little. ?‍♂️

This is not going to go away, Probly more questions than answers in that spiel, The next few days the press are going to be full on at Cummings, This will bring nothing but grief to BJ, The Governments enemys will now be conspiring with each other to heap more pressure on those in power.

So in the last couple of pages of this thread it’s been mentioned that it’s  ok to target his house because he is vile, his appearance is that of a gimp, that he is a vile arrogant and emotionless person, that no matter what he says or evidence he provides it is a lie lie lie. That for being nervous whilst undergoing a very difficult live press conference this somehow makes him a bad person.

And that if other fellow Derby county fans dare question any of the above statements, dare to wait to hear both sides of the story, dare to even take time to give ourselves a chance to fully investigate the situation before passing judgement that we are then somehow the inexcusable and embarrassing human beings that should get a grip!

It’s all rather backwards and no wonder that political debate is now so widely avoided.
