It’s that time of the year again... a new academy thread. I’ll start us off with what I believe the squads are.

U23s

Goalkeepers: Ravas, Barnes, Yates, French

Defenders: Gordon, J Brown, Bateman, Hunt, Wassall, Buchanan, Minkley, C MacDonald

Midfielders: Sibley, Knight, Babos, Dixon

Wingers: McAllister, Mitchell-Lawson, Wilson, Shonibare

Forwards: Cresswell, Whittaker, Greco

U18s

Goalkeepers: Halwax, Foster-Theniger

Defenders: K MacDonald, Cashin, Perez de Gracia, Bardell, A Brown, Charles

Midfielders: L Thompson, Matthews, Nto, Jinkinson, Grewal-Pollard, Rogers

Wingers: Ebosele, S Thompson, Cybulski

Forwards: Stretton, Aghatise, Soloman, Splatt

NB. I may have misassigned positions to some of the U18s.

Max Bird a deliberate omission? Think he'll be exclusively with the senior squad now?

Q1 When was the last time a DCFC youngster went out  on loan and came back and made an impact in the first team ?

Q2 when was the last time a DCFC youngster went out on loan and came back and got anywhere near the first team

@Ghost of Clough, great post.

Osazee Aghatise is more of a midfielder / winger I think: https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=32756

Bartosz Cybulski is an out-and-out striker I believe.

Confirmation of the new scholars and those promoted from last season’s U18s to the U23s here: https://www.dcfc.co.uk/news/2019/07/new-scholars-confirmed-as-new-look-under-18s-squad-takes-shape

Am expecting/hoping for good things for Kyle McAllister this season having done so well with his loan back to St Mirren.

For those who don't know he's a very talented wide forward but has had absolutely terrible injury problems, so it's great he proved himself week in week out in the Scottish Premiership, scoring and making the goals to keep St Mirren up.

Thought he'd be on the American trip. Alas no. Maybe he's had extra time to recover after the relegation playoffs north of the border.

Was Mcallister really that good?!? Kept tabs and didn't think he set the world alight, what were his stats?

@Ghost of Clough, great post.

Archie Brown described as left-back p.50 Ram #1

Eiran Cashin centre-back p.51 Ram #2

Jack Stretton striker p.50 Ram #6

Liam Thompson midfielder p.50 Ram #7

Jaden Charles midfielder p.50 Ram #8

Jordan Brown p.51 Ram #10 ‘As well as being deployed at right-back, Brown’s main position is at centre-half, but he’s already enjoyed roles as striker, number 10 and holding midfielder!’

Kornell MacDonald full-back p.50 Ram #12 - I think he’s more of a RB than LB

Callum Minkley centre-back p.50 Ram #15

Lee Buchanan centre-back p.50 Ram #16

Connor Dixon midfielder p.50 Ram #20

Yoann/Yohan (seen it spelt both ways) Greco striker p.50 Ram #22

Morgan Whittaker forward p.51 Ram #25

Archie Brown scored a hat trick from left wing/left forward in the U18 national final v Arsenal, so I wouldn't describe him as a left back myself.

Three goals in 18 games by a twenty year old in a team at the foot of the table, including a crucial one to help them escape relegation when the pressure was totally on. And an international call-up to the U21s.

Not bad, can't see him improving our squad but I guess we'll see ?

Mason Bennett is a good shout by @cosmic.

I’ll add Kelle Roos.

Mostly played at LB last season

Pretty much half of his games last season were at RB and half at CB, with a couple at DM, and a rare game at LB. I've never seen him play as CF/ '#10'?

Yep. Can't remember him playing anywhere other than RB/RWB

Played mostly at LB/LWB last season, and didn't really play on the LW until the last few games (with the rare exception)
