As the ball is coming towards him, his arm is already on its way back down by his side. As it passed over him, he lifted it back up. He knew what he was doing. Deliberate.

He must have been listening to the flight of the ball.

echo location?

4 seconds in his arm is on its way back down, he then swings it up following the flight of the ball cos he knows the striker is behind him.

It is stonewall mate. You can't do mad things like that with your arm and be safe just because you're close to the ball being hit.

The ref would have had to decide why he put his hand up in that position (it has nothing to do with jumping - you can see him drop his hand then lift it again when the ball goes past him). What is the reason for him to lift his arm thus? The ref decided that it was to block the ball from the player behind.

That Pique is not looking at the ball is neither here nor there.

Its not normal, but whatever the reason if you or I went upto a work colleague and did it we wouldnt still be in the job.

First time he did it you accept it might be a one off, suspend him. Second time give him a ban and a warning saying look do this again and you are banned for life. Third time, ban him for life.

He bites when he wants to move club. Did it to get away from Ajax then again to get away from Liverpool. Not very mature but it seems to work.

Not my theory by the way. The theory of my friend's 10-year-old kid.

It’s a real shame Russia’s best player is a Brazilian right back.

A desperate lack of quality further up the pitch.

Golovin has plenty of potential and needs to move to a major club to develop his game and realise it.

Praying for penalties, the great equalizer.

The ball is almost always going to be moving towards the hand.

"Ball to hand" is a get out for when there really isn't anything they could've done differently to avoid it.

Still, 15 minutes to go.

I'd be so amused if Spain go out.

He could have not swung his arm up, would have avoided it then.
