I don’t buy into the idea the McClaren speculation affected that season, I think if we’d kept everyone fit it wouldn’t have been an issue at all and we’d have gone up with him still as manager, but it really didn’t help the situation we were in. When we fell off it only made everything that more apocalyptic. I don’t think we’ll drop off this season because I highly doubt we’ll ever see an injury crisis that bad again and I don’t think Rowett would leave even he didn’t sign a new contract. But we’ve taken a lesson from our past failures and learnt from it, which has made us a better run club. Rowett also completely deserves this contract, even if we don’t go up I truly think he’s the right manager for us and I want him here for years to come. Great news and great move by Mel. Feeling really good about the rest of the season now. Fantastic stuff. Has to be said as well, hats off to Mel Morris on this one.
