Chris Martin - joined Reading on loan until the end of the season

For anyone thinking of reading this thread it can be summarised like this.

Two people obsessively slag off one of our players, saying he is crap, going to Fulham and/or going to Wolves.

Everyone else tells them they are idiots.

There you go. Saved you 30 minutes.

What sound basis do you have to form the opinion that CM would go out on loan? On one hand you say there was a lack of interest but then put forward Wolves as an option. What concrete evidence do you have to suggest Wolves have ever been interested enough to sign him (other than what one or two Martin haters put forward as 'fact')?

Wolves were in the market for a striker but failed to get one, hence their need.

They showed interest when other options didn't come off which was confirmed by their local paper.

Martin is not one of Rowett's key/start every game players, is on high wages and we have added Winnall, therefore he meets Rowett's criteria for moving out to reduce both squad and wages.

Martin is hardly likely to turn down a move to the bookies favourites for promotion.

I believe that to be fairly sound judgement.

All opinion and rumour which is fair enough but no indisputable facts. These days, the Express & Star, just like the DET are fuelled by Twitter tittle tattle and forum views....... "as reported",  "we understand" etc etc and if people believe everything that newspapers, particularly regional ones print then more fool them.

The question about Chris Martin begs for the answer.

Is he now just there to offer an alternative attacking option and also is he's going to be used properly?

I pretty much doubt Gary will use him on a regularly basis week in, week out. I don't think he fits his football vision.

No thanks - Having more energy in CM gives you cover for the wing backs BUT there's next to no creativity in that side - You've moved the guy who does all the midfield link up play at the moment into defence

That's daft

Morris is a centre-forward not a winger

Check you out telling people what is and isn't daft.

If, like the rest of us, you were an expert you would be involved in football rather than sitting on a forum giving people your opinion.

The 3-5-2 formation under jim Smith had very little creativity, carsley and Van der laan would hardly be classed as creative players. And Vydra has the potential to be as influential if not better than Willems.

You might want to re-check what I was referring to as being daft...

You're being a bit harsh on yourself and Ninos there Toddy.

All those plonkers that thought martin was coming back in the summer and thought they were going to see martin of 2013/14 season when will you learn he is past it now.

All those back in July that were saying Chrissy is all lean and looks fit - looks can be deceptive you know.

He was once a good striker, was! We need to move on, with Winnall coming in it looks like GR is bring ing in more options

Not too sure where martin goes from here. It was possibly a get out for him if we had accepted one of the offers for him last month. Now he could end up festering on the bench and costing us a fortune in wages each week in doing so ( thanks Mac).

Would you like to be wrong? Or would it eat at your soul if Chris Martin showed himself to be a good player and scored goals for Derby County in 2018?

Once again your vitriolic logic is flawed. Granted it's obvious GR doesn't see him as an automatic choice. Utilised correctly though, he still has plenty to offer at this level. One of his main attributes is the quickness of his footballing brain. Very much doubt that is in decline at 28/29 yrs old. If he relied on his pace then maybe you could have a point. However, once again your tunnel vision has clouded your judgement.

It would appear to me that " all those plonkers" you so tactfully refer equally have as much right to an option as you do.

The main difference being they look at our team favourably where as you appear to view with total disdain, I really struggle to understand what enjoyment one would get from that.

Yup, you don't think he's due for a goal after 10 consecutive games for Derby with ZERO? Law of averages says he has to score at some point. Surely. 550 minutes of starting and coming off the bench, but who's counting? And he still has believers? Mind boggling. It's no wonder we went and got Winnall. We need strikers who can score TODAY not years ago. Much prefer our chances with Nugent Vydra Winnall and/or Lawrence.
