Liverpool to negotiate Will Hughes transfer by loaning Andre Wisom to Derby

LIVERPOOL are to loan Andre Wisdom to Derby as a bargaining chip for Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United target Will Hughes.

Wisdom - who can play both full-back and centre-back - will be a welcomed addition to Steve McClaren's back line after failing to keep a clean sheet in their last nine games.

McClaren has enjoyed a good start at Pride Park, winning twice and drawing once, but has seen his side concede seven times already.

County's defensive worries took another set back on Saturday after loanee Zak Whitbread joined Shaun Barker and Mark O’Brien on the list of injured defenders, so the Midlands outfit will be desperate for more depth at the back.

The loan deal will also benefit Liverpool in one of two ways; either it serves as a makeweight for a deal for starlet Will Hughes or gives Wisdom valuable first-team experience.

Wisdom to act as bargaining chip for Hughes transfer [GETTY]

“Liverpool are looking to sweeten a Will Hughes deal by loaning Andre Wisdom to Derby.”

The likes of Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd and Barcelona are also interested in the England U21 international, so Liverpool will have to pull out all the stops to bring the youngster to Anfield.

The 18-year-old, who has contributed three goals and two assists for Derby this term, made the headlines again at the weekend as his slick pass released Conor Sammon for the match-winner against Watford.

McClaren is resigned to the fact that he will struggle to keep Hughes past the winter transfer window, so should look to take on Wisdom - the England U21s skipper with 21 league appearances for the Reds last season - to keep young talent in the first-team.

There is not fact in that article whatsoever its all guessing. Putting forward the point about how it with benefit liverpool in one of 2 ways just sounds really unprofessional. And they cant even get right Wisdom appearances. He didnt play 21 games in the league last season at all he played 12.

Yep I'm sure your right, but the principle makes sense. I think we are inflating Hughes value slightly though. They (whoever buys him) will still only be buying potential. The recent potential buys (likes of Moses and Zaha), haven't wowed the Premier League and I suspect clubs will show some caution in the construction of the deal. However, a multi million pound sale and immediate loan back is very attractive now that we have a manager who knows where to shop.

One of the more reliable posters on Derby Mad (I think it's the guy that said Adam Oearson was leaving months before it was announced) has said we've agreed a fee in the region of £7,000, 000 with Liverpool. He never mentioned a loan back.

Rush has said no bids or even any enquiries received yet.
