I doubt we will,

Seems Hendrick is favoured for the DCM slot if required. I'd like us to sign someone else to play there but I'm not sure it'll be Cisse, the management have gone quiet on him and he has only been involved twice in 10 games or so.

CM - Hughes, Bryson and Hendrick

CDM - Eustace and New Signing

I just don't think Hendrick is good enough in the CDM role and it does not fit his style of play, limiting him as a player. Bryson and Hughes will get injured in the second half of the season so Hendrick will play.

Signing a CDM would strengthen the squad greatly.

In our last 10 games we've conceded 7 goals, 6 of them were scored in the 2nd half of matches (5 in the last 30 mins). I rate Eustace highly but he tires late into games so I'm hoping we sign a new CDM who doesn't want to leave our half and has the energy levels like Bryson

Surely this means a new cdm should be coming in?

You'd hope so. Having said that, we already have Hughes, Bryson, Hendrick, Eustace, Bailey and Coutts (maybe) who play in the central midfield position. Thats 6 players for 3 spots if we stick with the 4-3-3 formation.

If we don't sign another CDM, I'm hoping we don't play 4-3-3 when Eustace is rested, we just don't have the personnel for it to be effective. Having said that, I don't what other formation we would play...

Nothing against Bailey moving up the pecking order. Having said that, I'd put Bailey in the same camp as Hendrick in the CDM role - ie. might work against the lesser teams but we'll end up being exposed against the better sides.

Unless we really see Bailey as the long-term replacement for Eustace then given that we'll more than likely have to replace Eustace in the summer anyway then I really think we should be looking to bring that player in now, rather than the summer. If we end up dropping away from the playoffs because Eustace gets injured and we don't have adequate cover than I doubt many will be happy. I thought we were serious about having a go at promotion here. Whilst I can understand the argument that we don't want to bring in too many players and destabilize the squad, that shouldn't be at the expense of lacking cover in key positions.

I think Bailey is more of a deep lying play-maker than someone that breaks up play in midfield, he would be good cover for Will Hughes, especially if we are being pegged back a bit and need to play a bit more direct when in possession.

If we don't sign someone, it might be worth a try to play either Keogh or Keane in that sort of role if eustace is not fit. We need a CDM that doesn't like to leave his own half, Hendrick and Bailey are more likely to be out of position when playing deep.

I think Coutts could be the man to replace Eustace. The few games he has played there he looked solid.

This could be interesting. Paul Coutts is excellent in that he very rarely gives the ball away with his passing which is brilliant for playing out from the back. My only doubt is can he be a big enough presence to win it and protect the back four?

Also does he have the tactical/positional nouse to play that role. I wouldn't say Eustace is not a particularly big presence, it's his know-how that allows him to play the role well.

Fair point. That to me gives even more encouragement for Coutts in that role as I think he can be an intelligent footballer and would understand the role and what was expected.

looking at what Simpson said, it'll probably just be Bailey who will be cover at cdm.

If that is the case, why the hell did Hendrick play that roll at Festa?

In my humble opinion we need to get a specialist CDM in to cover/ rotate with Eustace.
