Very clever little player, according to Paul Lambert one of the best finisher's he has seen, just needs to leave Norwich and move somewhere permanently to fulfill some of his undoubted potential.

Went to Swindon very unfit, due mostly to us not having a reserve team, don't judge him on 1 goal in 12 though, unless you actually know what you are talking about because he only started 6 games and was often played as an attacking mid / second striker.

Is also a free kick specialist. Have no idea how you lot like to play football but I hope for your and Martin's sake it is with the ball on the floor and not pumping long balls up field because you have signed the wrong player if you want somebody to chase every lost ball or to win balls in the air.... his strength is clever link up play and final ball, needs the ball at his feet.

No doubt you are getting a fitter Chris Martin than Swindon did, wouldn't be surprised if he bangs in a few goals for you between now and the end of the season if he is there for that long.

What the kid really needs is to leave on a permanent and play week in week out, the best we've seen him is under Lambert in League One alongside Holt.... 23 goals and 8 assists that season. Struggled the next season in the Championship with injuries but respectable nonetheless that season as we won promotion. Played 30 times in our promotion season, although a lot off of the bench as Simeon Jackson was lethal in the second half of that season.

Hope he makes a decent impression at Derby and earns himself a permanent move to be honest. No doubt a good Championship player and once he gets a permanent to a Championship club I think he'll show that.

He's a Norwich boy through and through so I wish him nothing but the best, hopefully he'll do enough to earn himself a move to Derby at the end of the year, too clever for League One.

DiCanio may not have been able to get the best out of him, but Lambert did, and in half a season at Palace he may only have scored 7 but he was their top scorer in a team packed full of kids, Palace fans liked the fella.

That's it, have a nice life.

Well someone at Norwich saw it!

I can see him having the same success as Rickie Lambert in the prem, IF we get there of course.

Same style of play, similar physique, takes pen's and free kicks and holds the ball up tremendously.

All these strikers Norwich bough that cant hit a barn door and they gave away there only decent one :D

I've never forgotten coming on here and starting this thread, trying to convince you all that he'd be a good signing on a free transfer, it wasn't a particularly easy task, should I be thinking about a new career as a football agent?

Most Norwich fans and probably most people at the club knew that he had this potential, and most fans understood that he needed to leave to fulfill it for various reasons. Is often the case that players have to be released from their first club to fulfill their potential (a bit of a wake up call and a pay cut perhaps!).

He's our youth team product and a local lad and we don't get a great deal of talent come out of this area, so I'm glad he has found the right club and fulfilled his potential.

Its gone even better than I thought it would for him to be honest, we knew he had this potential, but I didn't think he'd ever quite fulfill it.

He must be well on the way to becoming a Derby County legend by now?

Yup, well on his way. A promotion with us would cement it :D

Martin offers a service at the minute only Sammon can offer, I wouldn't dislodge Ward either - he is a goal scoring threat..

I'd still go with Sammon and Ward, bring Martin on for the last 30 minutes for Sammon.

Ermm is everyone here missing one clear factor as to whether he will play....

Ward has scored 10 in 15 he should play up front surely. Chris Martin will not beat that record, well realistically. So I don't think we will see this in the starting 11

Sammon Martin

Ward Hendrick Bryson Coutts

Even though that looks appealing you HAVE to play ward up front it would be silly not to.

Do we really want yet another unprolific forward at the club??? Surely Sammon is enough of this type forward, Martin has had one decent season in championship 1 & since then his record is dire. Unless he's coming in to replace Sammon which I doubt, lets try to get somebody in with an eye for goal, after all, the last time I looked it was the outscoring of the opposition that was the key to winning matches.

Your right I need to give the guy a chance just p***es me off when I see a team like Wednesday signing a proven striker at this level on loan (Lita & hes doing the business for em) whilst we sign the unproven.

These are my favourites

You could pick any Derby player that's been around for a while and drag up lunacy on this forum. But those are pretty good. Someone should do this for the Keogh thread lol
