You can't open the browser settings?? ask the IT guy to clear your cache.

Not much I can do if he won't, the old editor files were heavily cached to improve loading speed, now it's holding on to those despite new editor files in place. Nothing I have done wrong, it's effected every site upgrading. Clearing cache is essential for everyone that used the forum prior to the upgrade.

I think we like you here, please feel free to visit often, whenever you're bored, you are our feeder team, after all ;)

Shackell is another we let go who has gone on to fulfill his potential. I think we were really skint and needed the million though.

We'll probably sell Josh Murphy to somebody for £250k next, and he'll end up the next Raheem Sterling. There you go, there's a tip for your next signing from Norwich

Honestly though, there aren't many Norwich fans who wouldn't want Bradley Johnson and Chris Martin to succeed, both very well thought of here and both played their part in very successful campaigns.

Shackell less so, just because he was here when we were sh*te so damaged by association, and didn't always get the credit he deserved, but he was always a decent player too.

Anyway, good luck with the season. I do find myself looking at your results to see if Martin or Johnson have scored so good luck to you.

Never really think of Norwich in terms of a club that develops really good players but can't argue with that record. I'm a bit older so think of you guys in terms of players who seem to play for you for ever (Kevin Keelan, Greg Downs) and hence become synonymous with the club.

Always played decent football though and i like Norwich as a place, even though the local accent can take a bit of deciphering. You've even managed to survive the association with Alan Partridge!

Well as it happens Shackell and Martin were the only two outfield players to really breakthrough in about 10 years which is why its nice to see them do well in the game, it was a barren spell for an academy which was really productive up until around the late 90's then suffered from a lack of investment and we closed a satellite academy in Bristol which had produced quite a few players (I wonder now how significant that cost cutting measure was, considering the players that have since come through Southampton's satellite academy in that area!).

I know we've always had a youth system which puts a lot of emphasis on technical stuff and passing football rather than just signing anybody who is 6ft at the age of 14, so when we do get a player come through they play the game the right way and try and get the ball down and play, but Shackell and Martin came through at a time when our once proud youth system was in a bit of a state to be honest.

Everybody else who came through during that period ended up in League Two or non-league. In the late 80's to late 90's we were consistently churning out a lot of quality players. Ruel Fox, Craig Bellamy, Chris Sutton, Darren Eadie (one who retired early, but he was special), Keith O'Neill (another who retired early, but he was also quality). Then all sorts of players who didn't quite succeed for us but went on to have decent careers like Jamie Cureton, Ade Akinbiyi, Andy Marshall.

In recent years we've invested a lot in trying to rebuild that academy, won the FA Youth Cup a few years go, and recent crops have improved, got Korey Smith and Tom Adeyemi in the Championship at the minute both come through the Norwich academy.

Norwich fans currently calling for Declan Rudd to take John Ruddy's shirt, and quite a few kids who you'd think are good enough for careers in the Championship (The Murphy twins in particular, and Harry Toffolo, all currently kids on loan to the Championship) so hopefully we're not too far away from churning out a few more Craig Bellamy's again.

I realise after typing that all of the above is probably really really boring, but its done now....

I wasn't on any forums or anything like that when Martin first signed on loan, and my immediate thoughts from that loan move was that he was a bit better than Sammon but that it wasn't saying much. I remember really really hoping that we signed him permanently to give him a full season because I had a good feeling about him. He had a much better first touch and better ball control than Sammon so I expected those two to have a really good battle for the shirt, but with Martin to win out over him. I felt like he'd score goals, but nobody can possibly claim to have seriously predicted what we got.

It's only since joining these forums that I realised people didn't rate him in his loan spell. Not the feeling I got in the ground. Not the feeling I had. I still find it odd that people couldn't see past the tiny bit of unfitness and the unfortunate lack of goals in that loan spell. I thought it was clear that if he was going to be available on a free that we had to snap him up.

Look, I was a young 14 year old breaking into the 1st team, couldn't expect me to deliver the goods post in post out at that age.

Also, having a life outside an internet forum also plays its part...

Damn, the "of course you're better than me because I have a life" card. Don't see that outside of gaming very often.

About time it made the transition, I say.

(and also it is a friendly dig, I'm not serious, I was literally on a Internet forum at age 14, what a ******* loser)

lol I know it wasn't serious. I'm just a gamer, so I enjoy it when it makes an appearance elsewhere. Being on a forum is my version of "normal" socialising

I honestly can't remember when Martin first joined on loan, don't think I even contributed to this thread.

I do like Norwich though. Norwich and Ipswich were both two of my favourite 'other clubs' back in the day, especially Ipswich during the George Burley and Joe Royle days - fantastic football, fantastic team.

Now under Mick McCarthy they play dinosaur football and are ever so boring to watch - and they tend to always give us a good game. I dislike them, quite strongly at the moment.

Hope Norwich survive in the PL. Harry Toffolo looks a cracking young player. It's a pity that for quite a big surroundng area, they don't have more fans. I know they fill their stadium and did so in the Championship, but their overall fanbase is quite small especially for what could be an established PL side.

All I can remember at the time is thinking with Sammon having no pace, why have we signed someone else to play along side him with no pace?  I think if Nigel had been in charge for all of the 1st season Martin was with us he'd have been lucky to score 10.  Schteve for all his faults at least recognised how good he is at providing a fulcrum for the attack...
