Chris Martin (Norwich Fan)

Very clever little player, according to Paul Lambert one of the best finisher's he has seen, just needs to leave Norwich and move somewhere permanently to fulfill some of his undoubted potential.

Went to Swindon very unfit, due mostly to us not having a reserve team, don't judge him on 1 goal in 12 though, unless you actually know what you are talking about because he only started 6 games and was often played as an attacking mid / second striker.

Is also a free kick specialist. Have no idea how you lot like to play football but I hope for your and Martin's sake it is with the ball on the floor and not pumping long balls up field because you have signed the wrong player if you want somebody to chase every lost ball or to win balls in the air.... his strength is clever link up play and final ball, needs the ball at his feet.

No doubt you are getting a fitter Chris Martin than Swindon did, wouldn't be surprised if he bangs in a few goals for you between now and the end of the season if he is there for that long.

What the kid really needs is to leave on a permanent and play week in week out, the best we've seen him is under Lambert in League One alongside Holt.... 23 goals and 8 assists that season. Struggled the next season in the Championship with injuries but respectable nonetheless that season as we won promotion. Played 30 times in our promotion season, although a lot off of the bench as Simeon Jackson was lethal in the second half of that season.

Hope he makes a decent impression at Derby and earns himself a permanent move to be honest. No doubt a good Championship player and once he gets a permanent to a Championship club I think he'll show that.

He's a Norwich boy through and through so I wish him nothing but the best, hopefully he'll do enough to earn himself a move to Derby at the end of the year, too clever for League One.

DiCanio may not have been able to get the best out of him, but Lambert did, and in half a season at Palace he may only have scored 7 but he was their top scorer in a team packed full of kids, Palace fans liked the fella.

That's it, have a nice life.

Nice write up NorwichLad, thanks for taking the effort. I've heard he's technically a good striker of the ball, and someone who you'd trust with a penalty or 25 yard freekick. I think that is something we need here. We have hardworkers but I sometimes think our strikers have poor kicking technique!

Well what I mean is that he needs to return to playing week in week out, and in order to do that he needs to sign for a Championship team.

He lacks a yard of pace in the Premier League as a striker, but I wouldn't rule out the possibility that he could be an effective goalscoring centre mid at that level (honestly), and that may be where his future lies.

With the greatest respect to Derby and other Championship clubs, if attacking centre midfield or second striker is where he is looking to develop now, then he won't find any Wes Hoolahan's in that league, and I can't see anybody in the Championship who could get in the Norwich team ahead of Hoolahan in the second striker role, Howson hasn't managed to get many minutes (not that there aren't Championship players in other positions who could do a job for us, that Tom Ince looks tasty).

If you are playing 4-5-1 then second striker is where you will likely see him play, and that will make me wonder whether his loans to Swindon and Derby were arranged by Hughton with a view to giving him another crack at the whip in that position for us.

Definitely got everything technically, just needs the ball at his feet. If you can play with the ball on the ground and pass it to his feet, he will produce a bit of magic once and a while.

Bang in some delicious free kicks in League One for us, anywhere around the edge of the box and he'll get most of them on target. Despite not being the paciest he is very composed when he finds himself one on one too.

If he's out of contract in the summer, what are the chances that this is already a permanent deal, like ward and Robinson who came in on loan originally a couple of years ago?

I would be very surprised because this loan deal is only 28 days and ward and Robinson were til the end of the season.

The only explanation would be that we loan him for the 28 days he has a look at things, we have a look at him and then re sign him on a 98 day loan so he can play til the end of the season as well as sign permanently in the summer.

Will all depend on how he plays in these 28 days firstly though.

He's got no chance. Not with the scud missile balls our forwards get.
