Fair comment, my good sir! Because this thread has been running since October, I hadn't read back from the beginning, so your original starter had slipped my mind!

Also: to the critics of Louie who keep referring to a succession of managers not giving him a decent run; he was actually brought into the 1st team by Cocu, who did give him room to express himself, hence the excitement at the time. The next manager was Rooney who throttled the flamboyance out of him. It may have been to get his fiery nature under control, but I suspect there was more. Maybe Rooney saw him as a number 10, but was also very keen on Max Bird, who had the potential to play the Number 10 role, so maybe Rooney was trying to create room for Max at Sibley's expense, even though he used Bird at CDM. Admittedly this is conjecture as I try to come up with a reason why Rooney would effectively break the lad. And then there is Paul Warne, who has done little more than prat him about.

So Sibley has only had 3 first team managers to contend with, one who blooded him, one who had personal issues and one who doesn't seem to know how to get the best out of what is available to him.

And yes, that last statement might mean that I had better go and get myself a tin hat. Hey ho!

Rooney humiliated a young kid in public, if you have issues with a worker you rollock him in private behind closed doors, mud often sticks and Liam followed Rooney in not giving Louie much of a chance, when Warne took over, plenty of staff are still at the club from Rooney days, and who knows what was said to Warne.

Sadly Cocu arrived at Derby at the wrong time, with all our problems, and wonder what Louie would have achieved under him with his record with young players at Feyenoord academy he brought through into the first team.

It's funny how different people see performances differently.

My dad always thought that McGovern was rubbish.

Funny old game! Brian Clough obviously thought John McGovern did a good job for he managed him at 4 clubs, Hartlepool, Derby, Leeds and Nott's Forest, and John won 3 league titles and 2 european cups, not bad return for a rubbish player, in those days you were only allowed 1 sub, so no passengers were carried, what days they were.

To answer your question, 2018. Not sure I quite understand why the national team's kit needs to match the flag colours though? Especially since that colourway has historically been associated with the away kit, and the only reason it's not been seen recently is they're trying out matching red shorts. Even then, between the home and away kit, both colours are present, not like they're trying to move away from them?

1966 World Cup red shirt, white shorts, red socks, it is a lovely memory to have witnessed England winning the World Cup.

Almost all countries play there home matches in the colours of there flag, one who does not is Italy, who are the only one i can think of. The fans always turn up to games with red and white flags, hats etc, for myself the team should be in our flag colours at home.

Thank you for finding the date of 2018, wonder if it is woke related, or just money by the greedy FA, via shirt sales.

I live beside the war memorial to the merchant navy, which is effectively my front garden. We all gather there for 11am on Armistice Day, wearing our poppies. It must be a terrible thing, perhaps below deck at sea, when torpedoed and the freezing water rushing in, in the darkness. Later in the day yesterday, I had to go into the West End and I was struck that hardly anyone in London was wearing a poppy. I think it's important that the poppy, just as other symbols like the flag, are cherished by everyone, precisely so they do not become "owned" in some way by extremists.

I get the white poppy for peace thing, but the money from red poppies goes to the Royal British Legion which supports military veterans. My take is that service personnel are often treated appallingly and need our support. They have lived through terrible things that no one should have to, and then are expected to assimilate back into ordinary society - no wonder many have problems. Also, they are sometimes unscrupulously recruited from poorer communities where the only opportunity of social mobility and escape, is to join the services. We probably all hate the politicians who send other people's children off to fight and die in wars, but wouldn't dream of letting their own kids near any danger. But I would say, don't use that as an excuse not to buy a poppy to support those who did go.

Yes it should never be compelled and there should never be peer pressure to make people feel they must comply, but I'm just giving some reasons why I think it's important.

Very well said. The worsted  PM to send the troops to war in my life time so far is Blair, and he will not meet the famlies of the fallen, what a Coward.

Vitesse always do a grand job on their closest match to Armistice Day.

Netherlands are still so grateful and proud of the allies, for liberating them, sadly our own country do not share the same vibes.

Lest we forget the poppy appeal is to raise funds for ex servicemen and women, who are in need of help, and there are many, if you do not wish to wear a poppy, please put a donation into the tin.

When was the last time England played in red and white the flag colours, this is a total disgrace.

Yes i am an ex serviceman and proud of the flag and country.

Similar to warne probably. Don’t get the sentiment for warnock. If you hate the football under warne then you will hate it under warnock. I’d rather consolidate in league 1 this season under a manager now with pass and move football with a clear identity and something that gets me up and excited to go watch games and then go for it next season. At least if we lost yesterday and I enjoyed the match and could see development I wouldn’t have grumbled

Warnock is proven at many clubs, last season he kept Huddersfield in the championship, not long ago he did the same with QPR, know doubt he would still have time for Derby to win promotion, and Bucko would learn so much off him.

Sibbo isn't our Greek god laid low, but he's got more firepower and creativity in his little toe than Washington. He needs a run of games in the no.10 position with the freedom to run with the ball, be creative with it, take risks and have runners around him to open up that space.

    100%

  8. If Ed Dawes is having issues then i wish him well and soon be back to good health.

After a couple of seasons listening to radio commentary from Ed Dawes found him so childish and totally biased, i am a ref that was a foul, then listening to the ex player informing him that it was not a foul or penalty.

Have not listened to a game this season, decided i could not take anymore of his commentary, all the best Ed.

  9. Vaulks out of favour at Wednesday for Gregory in midfield? Brilliant move by their manager, bottom of the Championship with 0 points, and knocked out of the cup by Mansfield, and a Wednesday fan told me the manager played Bridgit the midget Bannan at centre forward, do not think Wednsday's manager will be there too long.

  10. Shame he did not achieve his potential with Derby, however Birmingham are still taking a high risk gamble for he could break down again in the pre season friendlies and they will be stuck with his wages whatever they are with his Birmingham contract.

Wish him all the best delighted he his off our books

  11. Roger Davies cup relay 5 - 3 against spurs.

Lorry driver cannot remember his name, staying over night in London went to the match at 3 - 1 down decided to leave the ground for had to be up early, at breakfast at the guest house, the hostess said you did well last night, he said had all on not to tell her to trot off, anyway on the road he decided to stop at a cafe and purchased a paper and what a surprise he had with the score 5 - 3, the pub regulars in the village of Crich took the mick out of him for weeks, and in Del Boys words what a plonker!!!

  12. 28 shots! how many would Sibley have scored.

Must win game and Sibley comes on with 5 minutes to go, the lad can score from any distance and angle, he has far more experience than Dobbin yet Dobbin gets more game time, is it in the loan contract that has to have game time every match? for he Dobbin as not pulled up any trees with his loan spell.

Sadly Sibs hope your agent finds you a new club, for you have been treated very badly by Derby County, go and prove yourself elsewhere for it will be our loss.

They will be hoping that Middlesbrough get promoted won’t they - unlike myself

No doubt Gibsons solicitors are ready and waiting if Sheff Utd go into admin, and the 12 points are not implemented till next year and they Utd are promoted could be a minefield.

  14. Hope it is this season and we will be over our blip, talking to Wednesday fans they had won the league 3 games ago!! Barnsley good run ended midweek with defeat, so lets hope that we can go on a winning run and become the form team,

Sunshine is what we want and the rain soddened grounds to dry out, for the heavy ground is not good for ageing players it drains their tired legs. Horse racing is the same the horses are not running to form at all over the past few weeks, through the heavy going.
