I think it's also a massive positive that he seems to just be eager to play football and contribute to what will hopefully be a successful end to the season.

He was reportedly on 35k a week at Stoke. He left by mutual consent to go and play football for a quarter of the season, when he could have just sat around at Stoke and earned 4x a much to do very little. At 34, to walk away from the most he will ever earn again as a player just to play regularly is something you don't see too often.

I would be very surprised if there wasn’t a sizeable promotion bonus in his contract.

I think Preston were top after that first game weren’t they? Goal average was used for the first few seasons, so their 5:2 win gave them a goal average of 2.5 whereas our 6-3 win gave us a goal average of 2.

Goal average was used up until the 1970s when it was replaced by goal difference.

Ignoring the game between Bolton and us, if both teams won all their remaining games, they would be 3 points ahead of us. We can take each game one at a time, be awesome and win every game, but in this silly scenario, only can finish ahead of Bolton on goal difference.

It's really important that Bolton's run in is much harder than ours. We just need to slightly better than Barnsley and Bolton to get promoted. It they have hard matches and drop lots of points, it makes our task far easier.

In that scenario we would be ahead of Portsmouth by way of us and Bolton both beating them.

While Warne is here, good technical footballers will be offsky..eg, Knight & Bird.

Hourihane has already said he is off, and i wouldn't be surprised if Sibley and Thompson don't leave too.

Warne likes speedsters, athletes & hard men...technical players just get by passed on the whole.

Shame, but this is why we play awful football and worry more about the opposition.

That said, if he gets us up, fair play, but i won't watch his style of football in the championship...because it won't work!

    Missing you already 🙋‍♂️

It's tricky because I don't think they want to pay him the high wage he is on now, particularly if we don't get promoted.

However I think if we don't offer the same terms, he can leave on a free. I think that's how it works.

Presume we could offer him a lower wage deal and take the risk that he won’t get a better offer anywhere else.

I'll start by saying VAR advised the official at Luton Vs Sheff Utd last week to view 2 handballs, No fcuking way were they penalties...imo but both given.

Yesterday Man City Vs Chelsea a cross comes into the box and players jump for the ball, The ball then for a second nestles in a Chelsea players forearm in the box where he then moves his arm to nudge it away...VAR no penalty

VAR shows that it all depends who's in the box at Stockley Park, Games are won and lost on the opinion of a burke in a box.

    As for yesterday...as @sage would say...it's give-able 🤷‍♂️

But that’s just your opinion 😉

What's mildly infuriating is the nonsense being spouted out as a result of a win although I can't speak for others - someone even had the cheek to mention IQ, meanwhile we've been reading gems such as:

"Great win that" - As opposed to the wins that aren't great, guess what the one before was "great" too
"It was all about the 3 points" - Whilst certain other games are about something else, friendlies I suppose
"We deserved this win" - No comment
"Not lucky at all" - No, only 4 flukes out of the last 5
"Our form is brilliant / Warne great job / Others bottling it" - 1 deserved win in the last 7
"So proud of them" - 0 shots at ht at home sure was a new high, not embarrassing at all for an autos contender or Dcfc in L1 according to another poster
"They fought til the end" - As though other sides wouldn't try to recover the ball and get it forward drawing at home against a similar or inferior opponent, they would all lie down with "I surrender" placards
"Result not performance" - "Alright lads today you don't have to create much or defend that great, it's all about the goal and the clean sheet"
"Was always going to be ugly" - Nought to do with us not being good enough to break them down and make it not ugly, it was fate or just one team on the pitch
"This year is not about enjoyment" - Ok we might not have enjoyed it today with 2 chances at home but we damn well will when -assuming status quo- we create fa in the Championship!
"Ref did very well" - Just the one major decision out of one wrong

    I despair

Just out of interest, have you ever been to an actual football match.

I will try and clarify it for you. We currently are
4th luckiest in the league on this (xG vs actual)
5th luckest in the league on this (same metric)
5th or 6th luckiest in the league on xG points vs actual (-7 excluding today, same source)

    By my database
Chances to goals scored (3.09, avg 3.72) is as lucky as it gets after 33 games
Chances to goals conceded (4.17) is luckier than 72% of teams
The two combined (1.08) is luckier than 86% of teams - for reference last season was quite unlucky and this was only 0.38 against
Finally on results we are 8 points better off, this is luckier than 88% of teams

Happy to be corrected here, but I have it as:

We win all our remaining games, we finish on 105pts

If Bolton win all their remaining games... except the one in which they lose to us... they end up with 105pts.
If they overturn our current +4 GD advantage, they end up above us.

Therefore, Bolton can outdo us, regardless of how we do... which equates to it being not in our own hands just yet.

    🤷‍♂️

It’s in our hands to make sure our goal difference is better than theirs likewise 🤷🏻‍♂️

I still don’t get how Sibley managed to squeeze that in haha. Thank god he did.

I’ve now accepted that we are going to play sh1te football and am enjoying the goals as and when they come. It’s been a relief for me.

Up the rams. One more weekend of results like today and it’s in our own hands!!

It’s already in our own hands.

I dont think it matters. FA Rules state:

Any Club altering its team selection or numbering after Team Sheets have been exchanged may be fined. A Player who is named on the Team Sheet may be replaced without fine if he is injured warming up after exchange of the Team Sheet. Any subsequent changes must be notified to the referee and to a representative of the opponents before the actual kick-off .

EFL rules are pretty much the same, except teamsheets handed in 75 minutes before kickoff and cannot reveal to anyone else until 60 mins before kickoff, with detail on replacements also stated:

Should any nominated Player or substitute sustain an injury or become otherwise incapacitated after the submission of the Team Sheet to the Referee and before the kick-off, he may be replaced; the Referee shall be informed. Should there be any other extenuating circumstances which require a nominated Player or substitute to be replaced during the aforementioned period, the Referee shall allow such replacement and report the full circumstances to The League. The League shall then initiate any inquiries it may deem fit so as to satisfy itself as to the bona fide nature of the replacement.

    Guaranteed fine then😂 # **** the EFL

A late change due to someone picking up an injury during the warm-up 😉

I know we are only playing make believe here but could you bring someone straight into the lineup that isn’t even on the bench or would he have to be one of the named substitutes.🤷🏻‍♂️

The supporters will be full of gloom and doom when they don't see Collins warming up before the game, then suddenly, a few seconds before kick off,  from out of the seats in the front row of the Toyota stand a figure emerges and takes his coat off, Super Collo is here to save us.😄😄

Its Derby, there has to be Drama .

Apart from the line up is announced at 2 o’clock 🤷🏻‍♂️

Really? Like we wouldn't know to budget for expensive 'January' strikers? I think the obsession with 'got to be someone who is better/adds' to the squad or whatever it was is a problem. If we have no striker on Saturday any striker with two legs is better! Last January not getting a striker in was a mistake according to Warne. He's done the same again, waiting until the final hours only to be surprised when a deal falls through.
