kevinhectoring got a reaction from Andicis in Should we be patient? If so, how does it improve?
warne has told us how he speaks to potential recruits when they tour the club. It’s no wonder that we struggle to recruit good players - or that we lose them
beginning to think the way out of this league is to revert to the lampard /rooney model. At least they (and even LR) had pulling power. Who is the next Vincent Kompany

That should be I was a Warne fan, I'm thinking he's now out his depth. I don't care how many times we hear "it's football, we will lose games"
Not at home to fricking Oxford.. we are derby county.. not Accrington.

Waghorn and Tommo to start next game

Mendez-Laing is a winger. He’s played out of position.

Exactly. Warne can say "I don't really have to sell the club to players.. it sells itself.. but if I don't think the player will be my mate, I don't want to sign him"
He used to make tongue in cheek comments about DM after he scored, along the lines of, "Yeah he did well but I don't like to tell him that" - why not? Jokes or not, I just feel like Warne doesn't like the individually brilliant players and just likes 11 mercenaries.

I think Collins would play better if he sounded like harrison ford. And Bird should try talking like the hard guy off Ted Lasso

a loss today would have been very depressing and could have led us to a dark place Great to get a decisive win (on paper)
Thought Warne’s decision to start the Xl that played Wigan was good and brave. I’d now like to see him make some changes reflecting our weak first half showing and to try to get more out of this squad. There are lots of questions. One is how to tighten defence (I think Fozzie is the answer, not least because if he plays deeper I think we’ll get more out of Cashin, maybe Wildsmith too); another - probably the biggest - is how we increase effectiveness in midfield. Another is whether NML should be starting or finishing. And should Wildsmith sit out a game or two? Well done Collins.

well the commentators made quite a lot of the Burton defender’s guilty look at the ref. And said they thought it was generally an indication. Just like the cricket commentators say that if the wicket keeper doesn’t appeal for a caught behind, that’s telling. They are in a pretty intense focused place so their instantaneous reactions are inevitable revealing. That’s not to say they don’t try to game the ref but if numerous players respond in unison, it’s a good indication...

really liked your post and fear part of the problem is that Warne is not a good manager or recruiter of young players with promise. Also, his clumsy public utterances about his squad mean he’s likely to lose stronger players
But on the captaincy: looks like each of Klopp and Pep has done it once only (in their entire careers) and in the case of klopp the outcome was inevitable and in the case of City it didn’t matter. Each of them has players lining up to give 110% for every minute of every game. imo Hourihane’s effort will inevitably drop off in due course (I think it’s been decent so far) and when it does we will pay for the folly. Warne should have waited to allow Bradley to settle in
Comparing us w City and Liverpool in general isn’t likely to be helpful. To do so in the context of one specific managerial decision without looking at the specific context certainly isn’t.
Strongly disagree with those who say it doesn’t matter who is ‘playing captain’

kevinhectoring got a reaction from S8TY in How do we solve a problem like McGoldrick(s replacement)
Sibley was given his chance up front end of last season and it didn’t work for him. I think he’ll need to star as a sub a few times if he’s to get many starts this season

kevinhectoring reacted to Caerphilly Ram in We are a fickle bunch
Specific to the negativity being discussed only one poster that I can recall has outright said they want Warne gone. Others have alluded to it. A lot are voicing their displeasure. Some are doing it with rationale and logic presented to back up their thinking and concerns, others have resorted to attacking Warne’s personality and approach as a way of showing their displeasure. Some fans are supportive of Warne, some are presenting their rationale and logic as to why, some aren’t but want to keep the faith that it’ll come good, most fans regardless of their stance/feelings/concerns seem to think/accept there’ll be time for it to go one way or another due to the club’s circumstances, that length of time could of course vary depending on events…. Oh, and one poster has suggested David Clowes is a dinosaur 🦖.
I think that summarises/captures most of what I’ve seen and read this week.

i’m certainly not one of those calling for him to be sacked.
I just want him to line up and motivate our players in a way that suits the squad and gets the best out of them.

Seems a bit school boyish, players choosing who they would like to be captain. Just my opinion.

Nah, not sure about that one bit.
Rooney had his personal interests but it's hard to deny he stood by the club in their darkest hour - sometimes paying out of his own pocket to do so. We all know Rooney had no invested interest in Derby and was here for a share of the club or some business interest - why would he be here for anything else. But my view is that he acted with decency and integrity (inside the boundaries of someone here for business reasons) and could have completely dropped us (and others around him) under the proverbial bus on more than one occasion. Doesn't mean I want Rooney back, or anything like that, but I do appreciate what he did for us at the time he did it.
I know, you don't agree!
