Back in the car, waiting for the traffic to die down. We were nowhere near as bad as some on here have suggested, but it was galling to lose to an avoidable error. Oh well on to the next game.

My final thoughts for the night having watched the game on TV.
We were generally poor, Ipswich weren't great and it wasn't a good game. However, we were away from home against a team in the top two. Before the game, my hopes were high but expectations were low. So, I don't feel any more or less optimistic than I did before the game. As for Ipswich, perhaps, for all our failings, Derby should get some credit for not letting them play well.
If we fail to win our next two home games I will be feeling a lot different.
Should Curtis be criticised for that back pass? Of course but poo happens and every player makes mistakes.
Did Barks have a bad game? Yes but not helped by being played out of position.
Am I happy with our style of play? No but let's see how the season progresses.
Do I think Warne is the right man for the job? I have no idea. I can't say I took that much notice of how Rotherham played in League 1 under his management but he certainly got the results.
Will I be there on Tuesday, next Saturday and at MK cheering them on? Of course I will

The ref was atrocious, heavily influenced by that t***** who got a thoroughly deserved yellow early on then spent the rest of the match in the refs ear influencing him for every decision.
The late, high challenge on Smith would be a straight red 9 times out of 10. The fact we didn't even get a free kick for it proves the ref was cheating yet again. Same when McGoldrick came on, the Ipswich CH removed his shirt, washed it, dried it, ironed it and returned it to him with a nod of approval and play on from the ref. It wasn't even in a scramble or hidden by other players, just an almost sensuous disrobing of a lover. Looks like we'll be stuck with this all season, its consistent now. Part of the EFL punishment I guess.
The reason we lost however was more to do with our lack of quality at crucial times. Half a dozen occasions in and around their box we fumbled it, miskicked it, lost composure and then the absolute shambles giving them a goal from virtually no danger.
Some of our more technical players were not on it tonight as regards first touch, awareness, football intelligence and composure. Its disappointing because we do have a few players capable of doing all those things.
Its early days and we have two winnable home games next week so a wafer thin away loss at the probable League winners will not be seen as disastrous in the cold light of day.
Come on you great big, yet thoroughly annoying Rams ?

Really don’t get all the vitriol I’m seeing online.
Any other night it finishes 0-0 and we go home relatively happy with a point away from home against a side in the top 2 with two home games up next.
The performance wasn’t horrific some are making out, I’m not having that. We stood strong defensively in the main other than Davies’s misjudgment which lead to the goal.
We’ve got a cobbled together squad fresh out of 18 months of hell which included an administration yet some think we should be this perfect team and club. There is really no point sticking the knife in after every defeat or disappointing performance.
Huge amount of perspective is needed IMO.
Onto Tuesday night where we look to put things right. ?

30 odd shots v Lincoln without scoring would suggest they might not be, but agree that this will be the toughest test this season and I'll be happy with a point. The long journey begins in a couple of hours!

Met the man himself today, picking up his new Bentley Bentayga W12 from derby....had a good chat with him about derby and Birmingham.
He said he's happy to come back to derby after the world cup if derby want him although Brum are doing their best to hang onto him.
Says he's a fan of our new style of play and reckons we will do better under a more experienced manager and coaching staff.
What a lovely guy by the way, just loves football (and cars!)

I remember that backlog of matches at the end of the season, I am sure we played 3 home games in the space of about five days (or did I imagine it?), guess I'll find out when we get to April.

Must be similar ages, as like you I had my first job and went to as many games as my wage and young person's railcard would allow. The following seasons were the best, but I was then a student down south and couldn't get to as many games as i would have liked.

Can only emphasise the positive comments about the hospitality and friendliness of ASFC during the best away day of the season so far.  Great atmosphere in Coleys pre match with home and away fans mixing with no problems. Shame there was no real ale on tap, but the beer and pies were good and reasonably priced behind the away seated area.
I made the cardinal error of leaving Coleys back out of the entrance to go and look around the rest of the ground, and my ticket would not scan a second time. Fortunately the steward was fine about it, but it was a strange system with no turnstiles in the away end and being escorted to the seats past the terrace.  Overall a great day out and credit to ASFC for creating such a positive and friendly atmosphere, some of the 'bigger' clubs could learn a thing or two including ourselves.

It was my 1st season I could actually go to games as I left school and got a job so could afford it, the next 4 years were all better than the previous with us ending up 5th wasn't it in 89.... would have been Europe if it hadn't of been for the scousers getting us banned from playing

I think if they score the first pen the second penalty and potential sending off doesn’t happen.  It was frustrating because we had Accrington completely under control until the first pen.
I thought we were good value for the win but I agree, I didn’t think we were that good and play the same way against Ipswich and we’ll get beat. The same people on Twitter criticising Charlton and Fleetwood are the same people eulogising about beating Accrington 3-0 yet we probably played better against Charlton and Fleetwood. Shows a lot of people are just blinded by the score line.

I’ll enjoy it nonetheless because we didn’t get what we deserved in the earlier away games under Rosenior where we played some good stuff regardless of what some say.
