    There have been very few reliable links to players. Warne was quoted as wanting to add Roberts to the squad, he looks to be going to a championship club so fair play to him. I’ve done a quick check of the other names I can recall us being linked with via varying levels of social media accounts and the press;

Clark Robertson is joining a team in Israel. So that’s one more. Sean Clare? He hasn’t signed anywhere yet. Wes Harding? He’s still a free agent. Alfie May? He’s still a Cheltenham player. Lee Bonis? He’s still playing in Ireland. Sonny Bradley? He’s still a free agent. Aden Flint? He’s still a free agent. Callum Elder? He’s still a free agent. Harvey Knibbs? He’s still a free agent.

So of the names linked so far, we look to have missed out on Haydon Roberts and Clark Robertson. Knight and Bielik might be sold, that was sort of to be expected, but they are currently still contracted. David McGoldrick is allegedly in negotiations with us and Notts County, currently he is still a Derby player until 30/06. The transfer window doesn’t open until 14/06 and all the noise regarding recruitment to come out of the club at the end of season suggested they had a clear list of targets and were working on securing those players. I am unwilling to lose faith in the club and its processes this early in the summer based on a couple of players moving elsewhere and unsubstantiated rumour. It’s really not as bad as some people seem to think.

The huge asterisk next to "missing out" should be that there was zero evidence we were ever interested in the first place.

I'm pretty chill, I just yearn for a season where we go in feeling like we aren't fighting all the odds with an air of positivity. Been a trying few years.

You may well get that, the close season has barely started. Play offs were only a week or so ago, Champions League final hasn't happened yet! Revisit your thoughts in mid July.

Looks like all our supposed targets gone elsewhere, lets hope all the rumours are wrong cause it looks pretty bleak so far. Early days though.

Rumours are just that. So far, in limited sample size, rumours haven’t got out. We heard about Springett the same day it happened in January, for example. We have a new head of recruitment, a new regime entirely this season. Couple that with being the biggest name in the league, our name will drive clicks and serve agents well too.

Just chill out. There’s loads of time. This talk of it being “pretty bleak” when literally nothing has happened either positively or negatively is so pointless.

  4. Asian Champions League already exists.

It just won’t work for the reasons it didn’t in China. Lack of organic growth meant it wasn’t very well supported and Al Hilal (4 times Champions League winners) get 13k in a 60k+ seater stadium. Fad will die down, then you’ll just be very rich but having to live in a country you don’t want to be in.

Roberts won’t be the only capable academy player released by premier league clubs this summer, he’s just the one we know about most having watched him with a ram on his chest last season. Perhaps we’ll be surprised by one or two of the players we do sign, there might be younger options with a high ceiling and resale value that we bring in. I’m intrigued to see what business we do.

This is true. But I will say the most impressive thing about Roberts was consistency for me. I would very rarely see him veer from around 7/10.

Sounds like b******* but I had it on extremely good authority he was going to be offered, or had already been offered, a contact by Notts County about two weeks ago.

The contract by Notts is two-year with a clause that will make him a "Youth Ambassador" after he retires with the club, giving him pathway into youth coaching which is what he intends to do once retiring, especially with Notts as it's boyhood club.

The contract by Derby is for just the one year.

He is going to accept the one year contract with Derby, before moving to Notts County to retire (assuming they offer him a contract after this year with Derby, which they will).

This is as good as coming from the horse's mouth - if it turns out to not be true then go ahead a ban my account.

I’ll believe this one because it fits my narrative.

”Urghhh this is the hoofball I was worried about.”

    😕

Very accurate. Think fans also need to realise the calibre of players we are looking at here. If we play exclusively short passing stuff, the touch, vision and movement isn’t that of a Premier League team. We would struggle to break some teams down (saw this a bit pre-Warne). You simply have to be versatile and do a bit of everything at this level.

  8. It definitely has.

For fans, it's good because it means all players are back under one banner and we don't miss out on the strongest fields regularly. Most of LIV mob ain't great, but I have missed Cam Smith and Brooks Koepka for sure.

That said, those that left got a boat load of money and get to come back scot free... can't see those PGA loyalists being happy.

Saudis will continue their sportswashing and chuck a couple of Billion into the PGA now.

There’s always an odd vibe in the transfer window.

Fans say they want change and they want new players in but they are also reluctant when anyone shows interest in our players.

Sometimes you just have to allow the process to take place then cheer whoever is in a Derby shirt come August.

Don't forget when we sign a player, watch them, decide they're rubbish, actively want rid, then for some explicable reason, want to re-sign them years later.

How would you rate the Scottish Championship?

Again, think we've established that it doesn't actually matter. And if you are looking, why not look at someone who was rated as one of the best in the division and of an age where could get better?

But it's fine, I get it. If it was up to you, Ian Wright would have finished his career at Greenwich Borough because no one is capable of stepping up levels.

On that basis, should we be scouting players in National League North?

Should we not? Jamie Vardy turned out alright didn't he from Stocksbridge Parks Steels? There's gems everywhere. Plus, let's not forget, this is just on your assessment of Scottish football.

Fundamentally, gems could be anywhere, and you shouldn't decide not to look on any arbitrary factor.
