Scottish Championship….about the equivalent to the league my local team, AFC Telford play in, National League North….no thanks….

Well, for example, Luca Connell who was one of Barnsley's best players this season played at Queen's Park the year before. Judging someone solely on the league they play in is a nonsense.

As I say, I haven't watched him play or anything, he could genuinely be awful, but these are the type of places you need to look for bargains on a budget at this level. Throwing it out for just that reason is daft.

We didn't 'pay extra for something to be nice' though, did we? We did exactly what some are moaning about and gouged the hell out of them on player values.

I think in cases where the 'seller' is in admin, a tribunal should set a fair market value to ensure that clubs (like Derby) who are already suffering, are not getting dry-humped into oblivion.

Get what you're saying, but if you force sales to be at market value, you are equally hindering the ability to get money in quickly to stay afloat. If it's either accept £1m and stay in business, or the value to remain at £5m and have no one willing to pay that for the player, then I think they'd want to take the £1m.

Interesting one that, he’s removed all his posts and just has that on his story and as his profile picture. The song choice is “stick to the models” by future….perhaps he’s about to sign with Derby permanently, announcement today? 🤔 🤞

Well in the hook of that song, there is a line that says 'I went to Neptune'... so he's definitely one of us.

This season? He played a fair few games as both a more advanced, and subsequently a deeper lying (when Bird was injured), midfielder.

Played as a number 10, that, for me, isn’t his best position. He needs to be box to box in a 3. Can’t be solely responsible for creativity in a team like ours as a 10. For all his attributes, he’s not creative.

I want to believe this but I’m not sure I do. Bryson’s timing of runs and finishing that season were superb. I can’t say I’ve seen the same, even potential-wise, from Knight. We all know he’s got a great engine, but when will he start to use that towards assists and goals? I know playing him right back hasn’t helped.

Play him in the right positions. He’s shown it in flashes, but when has he even had a handful of games in a row in his best spot?

The Bryson role in McClaren's 2013/14 Derby side. Similar to how he was being played by Cocu.

Yep. He has much more ability than Bryson does as well. The fact he is so versatile actually has hindered him significantly. Just stick him anywhere to do a job and cover deficiencies rather than put him where he can shine.

    Still the same scouting system?

Burnley had a consistent 3 starting CMs last season, opying to bring the 32 year old Gudmundsson on for the 33 year old Cork, and rareley using 5th choice Bastien. They're in the market for at least 1 CM this summer, more likely 2.

Knight would be a very good backup option to Brownhill. In the right system and better coaching, he'd improve considerably in front of goal, as per his 6 goals as a squad player in Cocu's first season.

Looking at the players they brought in, I doubt it. Mostly foreign using the Belgian knowledge and they play a patient passing game now too.

I'm not getting over excited or underwhelmed with any signing we make or anyone we get linked with.

I don't know enough about anyone we've been linked with so far to pass any judgement on account of the fact that I've barely seen them play.

Positives with this is that he's on a free, young, will improve, potentially good resale value.

People on twitter moaning and saying no because "He didn't score enough last season"

Well Blackman, Waghorn etc had one good season and we spunked nearly 8 million on them pair.

People on twitter also see him listed as a striker and think he played as a 9.

Correct me if I’m wrong (it’s quite likely) but I thought owners injecting funds was included in revenue not Football Fortune Income. Isn’t FFI just prize money and net transfer revenue?

There’s a lot more rules now they’re in the football league than there was. They’ll still have one of the biggest budgets at that level, but they can’t just go daft unless obviously they get it right and get back to back promotions.

Roberts within the first few days is my guess.

Few days of what? His contract will run til the end of June. If we have agreed a contract it can be announced anytime. Haven’t got to wait for a transfer window, he would start beginning of July.

Makes sense to go for proven talent in our league and champ, but I hope we pick up the odd player from Scottish, Irish and scandi leagues- no reason why not now we have fresh recruitment personnel. I suppose the point is, it’s not just on Warne or his contacts, and we don't know the full extent of their strategy or scouting reach. It's intriguing!

Not done super in depth research but I’m pretty sure Oxford picked up a few from Ireland in the tenure of our new head of recruitment.

Surprised by the links to us and championship if I’m honest. Am I the only one who would underwhelmed by this. 6 goals and 5 assists although I know a struggling side but may had 20 even his strike partner smith had 14

And here lies the problem with reading a couple of numbers off the internet.
