Coming around the corner at The Cockpitt, or whatever that junction is called nowadays, and looking up over the flyover...

Brought a tear to my eye.
No photo will ever give justice to that mental image I have etched on the top shelf of my memory bank.
      ?

And this, had a tear in my eye seeing people assembling in the market place but ended up quite near the back so turning on to Pride Parkway was something I will never forget.

WTF would you moan about someone dressing as Chubby Brown? I guess it's reassuring to know we have moaning dick heads among our fans as well....

Because I like to think of our club as inclusive and diverse, I hate to think of our fans glorifying a racist, homophobic, mysoginist ****, that's all really.

Ultimately this should get fixed. But delay could result in CK losing patience and so the City need to be moving forward with this now. And Q needs to be less passive that they have been to date. They need to stop trying to be nice to everyone

Mel Morris still has some goodwill with some people, I don't believe that he would be willing to give that up and so believe he'll reach agreement over the stadium. Probably. Hopefully.

Odds are that we see derby county outside of the play offs next season, at least two to three seasons in League one.

Examplre: Leeds took several seasons to escape league one.

Derby will be restricted due to the business plan in terms of who they can sign, expect free agents and loan signings.

Not the best of those, they will go to the Championship clubs while derby pick up the left overs in competition with other league one clubs.

I've read that escaping league ones requires spending and from what I've read we will not be doing a lot of that.

For those who dream of escaping league one in the first season, continue to dream.

Rather a dreamer than a downer, aim for the stars and all that. It's what life is about, if you're always looking down, it's where you'll stay.

There will always be some fans aren't happy, I love any effort fans make to behind their club and I think this could look great!

100% this. We have some fantastic creative fans, I love that. We also have loads who will sit at there keyboards and just moan without offering a positive.

I've donated - seems like a good way to see out the season.

I'd prefer it if we could have something along the lines of 'Derby Kingdom' with Lara Croft doing a spinning kick or something... though.

Me too, looks brilliant. Surprised by the negativity of some.

Mel wasn’t responsible for our appalling away form (although, maybe you could argue that the sanctions applied as a result of his failings contributed) but the dire financial position we found ourselves in was due to him (with a little help from Covid).

In fairness, (and I'm not one for wishing the worst on Mel), it's impossible not to link the struggles away from home with a threadbare squad with loads of kids in it and ultimately that goes back to the club's mismanagement. Had Mel and Pearce not so royally cocked up then we would have had a squad more capable of meeting those challenges.

This game hasn’t been the problem.

Yep we’ve got a terrible situation and bad luck, but in the first half of the season we did well and gave ourselves hope.

But our form has dropped, injuries small squad, youngsters and some questionable starting line ups have snuffed the hope out sadly!

That we came this close is astounding - You have to remember that in the first half of the season the squad, albeit threadbare and small, was stronger than it is now. Couldn't be prouder of what they've done.

Yeah but the red dogs don't let facts get in the way do they. If this guy knew how to search correctly he would know the following:

His planes N-number is N9CK, which resolves to a Gulfstream Aerospace GV-SP (550). It has a range of 6,750 miles so sufficient range to get to the UK. It is registered by a company that manages investments for private individuals (KFIM LLC) and was registered in Delaware on 03/05/2021 (which matches up with when he was meant to have bought it).

I think @Crewtonis right in that it's damaged and is currently being repaired, hence using a rental.

Thanks, good research, I couldn't remember the tail number so couldn't find the details. It's not in fractional ownership so I think that puts him in a serious money category. That's a very expensive business jet.

Clearly he has been party to some catastrophic decision making at the club and he will have played a role in that. He, more than anybody, will be keen to move on to something else when the time comes.

However, just for a bit of perspective, he still reported to Mel. Anyone who thinks he had an equal decision making position, or was able to influence what Mel did to any great extent, is probably a bit naive. I'm sure he received many of the assurances and promises we all did.

This won't be a positive post, and I'm certainly not standing up for Stephen, he doesn't need me to! It's just good sometimes to take a step back, I don't think everything is always as clear cut as we think. Football clubs are murky places with lots of rumour, with no decisions made by committee. Could he have done more to prevent the mess we're in? For sure, but we will never know the ins and outs.

He will go, 100% and that will be the right decision. But ultimately, he isn't the main culprit in all of this imho.

Good post - Pearce is clearly not the main culprit but it can't be understated that the financial stability of the club was largely something he should have either taken care of. My other half is currently in a similar position where either the club she is working with does things correctly or she walks to preserve her professional integrity (and letters!!)

Overall though, yes, he was in a difficult position, I don't think he (or Morris for that matter) are bad people, they just made major misjudgements.

I'm sure I saw a tweet from Kirchner a couple of weeks ago (before he cleared out his old account) where he showed a photo of damage to the front wheel assembly after air traffic control at the airfield it was parked at had it moved and it slipped off the edge of the hardstanding. If so, it's likely THAT plane is being repaired, if I've not misinterpreted what I saw.

You did indeed, it's also likely that his page wouldn't have the range to reach the UK. Therefore, need need to hire one....

I don't think this is good news at all.  If our new chairman is loaded why don't we just pay 25p in the pound and be done with it.  35p in the pound over 3 years sounds like kicking the can down the road.  There is only one reason (as I see it you would do that).... you don't have the money.  People will come back and say this may allow CK to invest in the squad earlier on.....

CK is a businessman, he will want to pay as little as possible and get the best possible return, therefore he will be hoping that the club can pay off the additional 10p in the pound, it's perfectly logical business sense.

So we're heading into League One with a new owner forking over millions just to keep us alive, who will then need to spend loads on building a first-team squad, and everyone on here is fantasising about heavy investment in and around Pride Park? Alright.

Well CK has alluded to this so it's not entirely surprising that people are talking about it. If we're to be sustainable on the pitch then we need to grow the off the pitch side of things, it's not rocket science. It doesn't have to mean huge investment, it does need some imagination though.

I agree with this as I know from experience when I go to away games I buy a lot of beer/food so there is money to be made by looking after the away fans.

I think it was at Brightons new ground (& possibly Reading) where due to the location of the stadium they've had to cater better for fans outside the stadium with big screens and live music. And at Brighton they used to get real ale in from the location of the away team - nice touch

I'll guess that as we've been in adminstration, we'll be free from the catering contracts of the past too

Brighton have done it to an extent but they've been more focused on their 'in the ground' catering. That part of their stadium is definitely better than ours.

It was one thing that made me prefer Kirchner to Ashley, I was confident he would be looking closely at how we grow revenue to be sustainable, and the catering offering is an obvious contributor to that. Ashley would undoubtedly be looking at how we cut costs to be sustainable. I know whose stadium would provide a more pleasurable experience.

Are away grounds actually giving free wifi? Or do you mean just phone signal?

Are the away grounds holding >26k fans?  I’m interested because I was at a Charter Meeting when this was brought up.  Did you get a decent WiFi/phone signal at Wembley?

He said he could spend a fortune getting wifi and signal improvements done and still have complaints.  I swap to 3G at pride park, it gives me half a chance of at least a text getting out.

But them you see others getting a signal no problem. Maybe it’s the big providers who struggle.

Wembley was sponsored by EE and I couldn’t use my EE signal there ?

There's not a stadium around that has easily accessible WiFi, it's a big technical challenge and hugely expensive. As you allude to, EE are trying to improve 3G/4G at Wembley, not WiFi and still struggle to make it work.

I remember it well, Corner came over Thomas blows his whistle Zico scores a Nano second later, NO GOAL! all hell broke loose.

    image.thumb.png.efbd5b2c6c2e5baa77b47c825fb18844.png

And rightly so! Of course someone will come along and say it's the referee who measures the time, makes the decision, nothing in the rules etc but it's about precedent, this never happens, free kicks/corners are allowed to be taken and that passage of play allowed to complete, that's the accepted approach.

I want Wayne calling out injustices. Fighting our corner, and most importantly, the players' corner.

He's nailed the response, once again.

This, all day long. I don't want us to be nice or be liked, I want us to be horrible to play against. Wayne is absolutely spot on. And correct about the missing penalty and the final whistle being blown, of course.
