Reggie Greenwood reacted to rynny in **DCFC Fans Player Of The Season**
It should be Bielik, however, I was critical of when Kinkladze won POTS and started 22 games, so I can't vote for him, so Byrne wins it for me. Started off slowly but at the end by the end of the season seemed to be our main/only threat.

It is much easier to talk about running a football club than it is to do it, as he found out when he took Crystal Palace into administration

Surely though there comes a point where someone says enough is enough. Surely the punishment has to fit the crime, not destroy the club. Arguably the club has already been punished enough? which of the other transgressors have been hounded in the media like Derby? Were QPR or Villa or recently SWFC? The EFL could have dealt with this so differently and with a little acceptance of the fact that their rules are not explicit enough and that is at the very least a contributory factor? Surely?
Owners only do this because the Championship, as a competition has been ruined by parachute payments.

They are not in a much better state than we are and likely to get worse looking at the last set of financial results and ageing bloated squad. Be even better if the law catches up with the owner

Can I just point out that if ST sales are limited, and there is a criteria to be applied, I queued all night in Shaftesbury Crescent for a semi-final ticket v United in 1976.

Its pretty obvious that the EFL have nothing to really punish us for, Mel has wound them up about future streaming of live football, he's pushed the system to the limits to meet FFP, he's brought in Lampard and Rooney to the frustration of other owners who would have absolutely done the same if they had the nous.
What they have got is jealous owners like Gibson moaning and snarling in the background putting pressure on them to punish Derby for having the temerity to play the system slightly better than they have.
Villa, Leeds, QPR, Watford, Wolves, Leicester etc, etc, etc, have all cheated and beaten the system over the years and now the EFL have been pressurised into making us the scapegoat. The only problem has been proving that we have done owt wrong.
Our accounts must be the most scrutinised of all time yet all they've got is a subsection about player amortisation that probably makes very little difference in the great scheme of things.
If they had anything on us they would have hammered us by now.

Forest starting starting 11 that day we’re: Darlow, Jara, Fox, Greening, Lascelles, Collins, Mackie, Moussi, Cox, Majewski and Paterson.
Not many South American names there apart from Jara). ?

And hardly played any games for years.
His form for us after coming back from injury was dreadful. Can remember we thanked our lucky stars that Stoke were willing to pay money to take him off our hands.
Was decent for a while after his 2nd return but would hope we could do better than Lee now .

I know keepers age better than outfield players but at 38 he’s even older than Marshall.

Reggie Greenwood reacted to VulcanRam in 21/22 Season Tickets
I put this in another thread but I was told recently by someone in the tickets office that they are waiting until the FA directs them as to how many are allowed in before deciding their policy. They had sold around 11k for the season just ended and I guess have to work out whether to honour those this season and therefore not sell any more if only one third capacity is allowed, or refund and start from scratch if more are etc etc
But until they know what they are dealing with they are holding out. It makes sense to be fair.

Reggie Greenwood reacted to StantonRam in Just why are Derby County the Rams ?
As I understood it growing up there were several reasons, namely:
The Derby Ram song
The military connection
The fact that the county contains more Sheep than most places
The Black & White colours being associated with Sheep (although I don't think those colours were permanently adopted until about 1920 or thereabouts, if that's wrong then someone please correct me, I haven't checked)
The name - it's not Derby City (Bradley Johnson take note LOL) it's Derby County, and therefore there's arguably more of a rural connection traditionally than with clubs called City or United or Rovers etc.
I think that if someone lives in Derby and doesn't visit the rest of the county very much then it's perhaps easy to forget, or not know, some of the above. Another example maybe of the urban/rural divide.
Personally I like the Ram image, it does evoke a certain attitude of pride, defiance, power and potency, which is a good way to be I reckon, on the football pitch anyway, and maybe in life too, even though one suspects that these ideas are becoming increasingly unfashionable in the current Zeitgeist. I think that the image also speaks to the directness and honesty of people here, and the notion that blunt truth is preferable to polite hypocrisy.
In ancient times, armies would use a Battering Ram to break down the door of a castle or fortress, and the front end would often be carved into the shape of a Ram's head. A Ram's horn would be played loudly to summon villagers in an emergency or as a battle signal for tribal warriors.
Maybe when Mel Morris made his famous "Derby way" comment he was unknowingly channelling these ancient and long established images and trying to suggest that a team called the Rams should play the game in a dynamic, thrusting, forward moving way, even at the risk of conceding as well as scoring. And maybe that's why many of us have the subconscious notion that this is what we want to see on the pitch, and why most of us (me included) enjoyed the McClaren & Lampard seasons so much, even if in both cases we fell short at the final fence.

Reggie Greenwood reacted to BaaLocks in Rams Trust: A Letter to the Club
I think anyone that invests the money that Mel and Lionel did, with good intent, doesn't deserve to be tarred and feathered for it because they do more than any contributor to this forum would do in the same situation - I can all but guarantee that. But both needed protecting from themselves, and both had a tendency to let their boyhood dreams run away with them. Shame really, as both will ultimately end up leaving the club in a pretty shabby state - irrespective of how much they wished it not to end like this.

Young (20) quick and just the type we need.

Reggie Greenwood reacted to angieram in The concept of a fan owned club
I am sure that recent budgets have attempted to address this but experiencing over a season with zero income has scuppered us, as well as many others, in respect of budgets and cash flow.
I don't think the situation would be anywhere near as bad as it is without covid.
