Yep I would say that pretty much nails it , the old man was one tough fighter

The punch that took out Michael Watson is one of the best ( and most tragic ) I’ve seen.

I'm very pleased the club is playing its cards very close to its chest. It's denying the tabloids and the clickbait sites anything to print so they make it up. They copy the made up stuff from each other. They regularly regurgitate the same rubbish every couple of days. IMO they are not journalists. They are chancers who have found a way to make money through advertising revenue clicks. As a business model, it works. They are helped by the one journalistic trait they do seem to have, the ability to write come and read me headlines that persuade people to click open their "articles". Personally, I avoid them like the plague.

Let's look at one of them. Football League World. From people's comments on their posts, it appears they have linked us with Shinnie. He went to Aberdeen. Linked us with 3 centre halves, Nelson from Cardiff, one from Boro and one from Pompey. PW has said no interest in either Nelson or the Boro lad but that doesn't stop them rehashing the "rumour" every 2 or 3 days under another well written headline. They have also linked us with a Pompey CH. The lad is out of contract in the summer so, under the right circumstances, one could be led to believe it a possibility. However, they are promotion rivals. The player has started just about every game this season. Does FLW really think they'll let us have him for nowt as we're not allowed to pay fees? This week they have also linked us with a Villa player. No idea which one as I didn't open the link... never do. If anybody has read the "articles" I'd be happy to learn who the players from Boro, Pompey and Villa are.

Chat to Oldben he loves them

Paul Warne says one of his Derby County transfer targets has told him he wants to move to Pride Park as the Rams continue their pursuit of signings this month.

"That's what I am doing with one player at the moment and I am fighting with two other clubs to get him here.

"In fairness, I had a text off him earlier saying that he is coming. I just need to make sure everyone dots the is and crosses the ts. I presume the player will be coming in after the weekend.

"It could be either or (loan/permanent). That's the fun part."

Sounds like Jordan Huggill to me.

Or Springett ? He said he had a couple or other options but you never know ?

Only ever heard bad things. Described by a West Brom supporter last season as the most useless centre forward he'd ever seen play for the club and it being a complete mystery why he was getting picked ahead of others when the team needed goals (and they had someone better on the bench)

Actually that's the only thing I've ever heard, and from a West Brom fan.

He'll probably turn up here and bag 15 goals as we remain undefeated for the rest of the season and go on a 12 match winning run to close out the season.

A good egg as a person according to my carrot crunching mate. No moaning supports the squad. Career seems to have been on the decline hopefully a bit left in the tank at L1 level. Choice between relegation fight in the Champ or pushing for promotion in L1. Would give Collins some competition.

Ratings based on a minimum amount of starts, so no Davies, Chester etc

    Cashin 7.5

    Hourihane 7.07 NML 7.07

    McGoldrick 7.01

    Bird 6.79 Wildsmith 6.79 Forsyth 6.79

    Collins 6.76

    Barkhuizen 6.71 Knight 6.71

    Sibley 6.67

    Smith 6.48

    Roberts 6.45

    Dobbin 6.39

Cashin is the top player in the division at the moment from Barry Bannan.

It will interesting to see how these compare to our ratings. Hopefully @Ellafella will have an update for us soon.

Hourihane rated higher on this than our own forum ratings no doubt ?

The thing is you can't ask youngsters to do more with their bodies than they are physically ready for. It's quite obvious that Bird, Sibley and Knight have all 'grown up' and are better equipped to learn how to use their bodies. You can't rush that. So you can't ask Dobbin to put himself about like Colin or Chrissy used to, he's not physically ready.

Bulking up didn’t do much to help Miles Addison’s career as I recall . Much better to let their bodies settle and then strengthen as you say

Did the bogs resemble those on the Popside at a 38,000 gate for the full experience?

I think the worst bog was at the Manor Ground Oxford where you needed a coracle to navigate the sea of months old piss ?

    Two questions.
Which pub serves the best pint of Bass in Derby centre?
What are the best real ale pubs in Derby centre?
    Cheers in advance.

Best pubs in the centre Exeter , Smithfield , Dolphin , Flowerpot, Brewery Tap ( Silk Mill will be reopened this week so could well be added to this ) a bit further out Brunswick , Peacock , Alex , Falstaff, Creaky Floorboard. I’m sure a few others could be added .

I was sure either way about bringing Warne in, but had at least some hopes, because until then we could put together some lovely looking moves, but they tended to produce nothing. I could see that we could end up being the most attractive playing relegated side in League 1, even though Rosenior had got us to 7th place. But by then, the opposition had got us sussed, and our single dimension couldn't do anything about the sussing.

I didn't like the kick and rush approach, and we were not easy on the eye in any way, shape or form. But at least whenever we got the ball, it seemed that something would happen. It was the speed of getting the ball forwards, as far as I am concerned. And Paul Warne did stubbornly stick with his 3 at the back and hoof it methodology. A bit like when Ray Wilkins got suspended in the whatever years World Cup it was, and suddenly England stared playing better, Warned was forced to go 4 at the back, and suddenly things started to look batter. And thankfully he is man enough to go with what was working, regardless of how he personally wanted to take us.

There are two issues which have been key to our coming to life. The first one is the fitness issue - he has got the players leaving everything on the pitch, to the point of having to crawl up before the full 90 is up in some cases. It is paying dividends, and we are now fitter and outlasting the opposition consistently, with the benefit that we now have players operating within their limits instead of being at their limits for most of the match. And secondly he has spotted potential in players whose playing position seemed set in stone. The transformation of Fozzy isn't because he should always been a centre half, but that Paul has put him there, and had to because of circumstance, but has clearly worked with him and developed him in his new role. Even for an old warhorse, there is always something to be learned! And young Sibbers! It has helped that Paul has given the lad a chance, but has also seen his potential for the new role - one which I reckon none of us could seeing as applying to Louie. And again, the reward are there to be seen. The only question is "What has he been doing with the rest of the squad that we haven't noticed yet?

and despite Paul not signing anyone yet, and most of us thinking we needed quite a number of new faces, I wouldn't mind  if all we sign is someone who knows where the onion bag is. someone in this thread said if we had got such a player on Saturday we would have scored 8!

The 5 - 0 whooping of Spurs for may first match back in 1973, the second play-off semi against Brighton (and that whole Steve Mac 1 era are high spots for me out of the last almost 50 years, but I am sure that we are in a season which will join those permanent high spot memories! Woo Hoo!

Think the “oldtimers “ is catching up with you @DavesaRam. It was the Arsenal 5-0 win in 1973 the spurs one was 1969 ?

    Never catch us doing that!!?

Derby are obviously paying the instalments owed to Arsenal otherwise Bielik wouldn’t be allowed to play.
Could be wrong but I don’t believe Palace have paid us anything and the tribunal for some reason hasn’t happened yet.

While it grinds my gears as 63 yr old Rams fan Cooper is doing a fine job.

The elephant in the room though is the apparent lack of interest in where the money has come from and any success will always be tainted by the Marinikas factor and Forest could be in huge trouble if/when it’s proved that the funds are not legit.

Only a tree could laugh at the possibility that his club could be being built on the back of the allegations as serious as those being linked to their owner.
