  1. Well, I made it! Thought it was an ok game with odd bits of decent football. As has been said many times the officials were dire. I usually give them a bit of slack as I used to watch my dad reffing local games but this lot were beyond the pale. I thought we just shaded it but we don’t seem to get out of the habit of taking one touch or one pass too many.

I did look for @Anag Ram on the station platform but there were rather a lot of men in Derby scarves and I really didn’t fancy getting a reputation for accosting ‘strange’ men! I thought I’d recognise his nanny but I didn’t see her either!

I’m so pleased to know I can manage a whole day including travel on my own. A bit tiring though as I slept nearly 12 hours last night! But well worth it to know I can do it.

  2. This is to be my next big adventure- going to a match on my own. I used to regularly but 3 years ago today I was undergoing surgery to find my brain and then to repair the haemorrhage in it! As well as suffering small physical and mental losses, I also lost a lot of confidence. I’ve been setting myself challenges although my partner and family are not very enthusiastic! With this game being so early it means I can be back in Bristol for 5.30 so it’s not too long a day.

I may spend the following couple of days in a darkened room! COYR

It was probably worse in the late 60s with the sympathy from the Busby babes/Munich and winning the European Cup in 68. Add names like Bobby Charlton and Best to the mix as well….

Have always had a soft spot for them as I’m old enough to have seen the Busby babes play.

It was a bit chequered on Saturday. We had to stand but there were folks further along our row seated.

It all depends who you get in front of you.

What a shame to waste those lovely padded seats and all that leg-room, though!

    Hope you're recovered now.

Am taking it easy for a few days thanks. Everyone in front was standing but because the seat was deep, when it was lifted, I could lodge on it and take the weight of my knees! What ridiculously placed seat numbers though - if I’d tried to look down to see them it would have taken some strong arms to get me upright again!

  5. My first away game since my brain haemorrhage 3 years ago. I’m absolutely exhausted from standing up for the whole game - I realised I had a choice, I could either stand up or sing! I stood up.  Non football fans are amazed that I consider it worth it to go to a match at the cost of several days knackered. My response is, I can do something I love and pay the price or not go anywhere and be miserable! A simple choice for me!

4000; very impressive support indeed. managed to get a couple but you have to be quick on the keyboard. Had to do a little warm up session in readiness. ?

My problem was with speed, was on site at 10 but not quick enough! Only away game I’ve tried to get to as my partner’s son said he’d take me as no home games this month. He’s now on duty if there are any more released as he’s much quicker!
