*…bought the whole pub a drink then sat with some muscle-men wearing dark glasses. When I drifted by I’m sure I heard him say “[something something] Gibson [something] concrete boots…North Sea [something].
Don’t shoot the messenger. ?
*this might be a spoof.

The EFL is deeply disappointed at how this has ended.
The feeling is the written reasons left them no realistic prospect of success with any appeal and therefore to proceed would have been counter-productive.
They do feel they have won an argument over the amortisation of players and will now press for a rule change to prevent any other club following the path Derby created.
As per the previous judgement, Derby now have to resubmit accounts by 18 August. The EFL will then assess them to see whether they meet their profit and sustainability rules.
However, any decision on that and subsequent case will have no effect on the start of the 2021-22 season. Derby will play in the Championship and Wycombe in League One.

Given that the EFL are in charge of the rules, who are they pressing for a change from?
I suspect that the source of the deep disappointment is the shredding of their reputation as a competent regulator....

Appealing would simply prolong the process and with it the embargo and would likely end up costing us a deal more than the notional £100k fine. I can't see it personally. With new owners waiting in the wings and a new season only weeks away, it's time for the club to get back to footballing matters and to leave the wonderful EFL ruminating on how 'regrettable' it is that they've failed to drag another member club into administration. I'd also wager that we're about to find out that Wycombe's owner is all bark and no bite too.
As for those claiming we're still 'screwed' would you care to show your workings? Given you seem so intent on making sure fellow Rams remain unsettled and concerned for our future, I think it'd be only fair if you offer some plausible numbers to indicate whether and by how much you calculate that we've overspent.

Excellent point. Who's the audience for a message phrased like that?
Do you think somebody cut and pasted from the email to gibbo?

For them to use the word regrettably when their own legal counsel told them there are no grounds for appeal is ducking outrageous, unprofessional and proves they are out to get us based on some twits opinion rather than cold hard evidence.
