We're in League One with next to to money whatsoever.
There's absolutely nothing out there in the free agent market.
This bloke has scored just over 200 goals in just over 400 games and some of us are saying no.
I'm intrigued as to realistically you'd want us to sign? Or would fit in a wage budget?
I'm not saying he's a world beater or I'd be excited. But it's league one. We are where we are. Personally think he could comfortably score between 10-15 goals at this level.
Also Knight hasn't even been gone a week yet and some people are panicking that we've not replaced him.

NellyRam reacted to Walkley Ram in Sonny Bradley - signed on a two-year-deal
Totally agree. There are far too many fans who don't see to have noticed that at the moment, we're a mid-table league one club. We were spoiled with big name/money deals in the past, and that wasn't going to last forever.

It's even dafter when people here are calling players not good enough, before they're even kicked a ball for us.

Remember everybody wrote Kazim Richards off as rubbish before he had even kicked a ball for us myself included. So let's give him a chance in a rams shirt.

Just listened to his interview. Like him already. The negativity from some, that’s their view, but any player, before he’s even kicked a ball in a white shirt, really, have a think? Utmost respect from me and very best wishes CW.

Top lad , hope he reaches the level his work and attitude to the game deserves and will always get a warm welcome from me if he plays against us

Sad day. Wish he could have stayed and gone up there with us but nothing is guaranteed and think the extra year he gave us was probably to the detriment of his development. But totally admire his loyalty, commitment and attitude.
Feel disappointed for him that it wasnt a bigger move but hope he flourishes and makes the next step up soon.
Wishing nothing but the best to him.

Sad to see him go, but it feels like the right time. He stayed around last season when he could have looked for a move, I’d like to think because he wanted to help us get straight back up, but he doesn’t want to spend another season in League 1. He’s been a credit to the club during his time here, all the best Jason.

Well to be fair, I think it's been a very good window anyway, at least thus far. Unlike most on here though, I've not seen an awful lot of some of the new recruits and very little at all of others, but there seems to be a very clear plan and my impression is that the players signed seem well suited to the roles required to execute it.
That said, like yourself, I'd have kept Knight, but I acknowledge that I may be overly sentimental / too cautious / greedy or all of those things in my assessment. Conversely, let's not forget that there's a lot of the window left and inevitably, the most sought after players will sign latest and the best loans won't be agreed until it's assured they won't be needed. Very hard to assess things properly, until we know the full roster and I feel certain that there will be a signing or two before the window closes to please even the most demanding of Rams fans, though patience and trust will be required on our part.
As for Didzy, I think he'd have wanted to at least double his wages and a two year contract, but reading between the lines, I'm not sure he really wanted to put his body through another year of 50 games on top of Warne's arduous training regime. Had he gone anywhere other than Notts County though, I'd probably see it differently.
As for Roberts and Ward, as it turns out, we were never going to secure the former's services, though I think he was planning to stay up to the advent of what seems to have been too good an offer to refuse. I'll ignore any carping from Posh fans over Ward though, as if their fans are anything like a lot of ours, a lot of criticism will be sour grapes and possibly a tad unfair. In the context of L1, he looks quite a decent prospect to me, so as I always tend to, I'll reserve judgement until he's had time to settle in and show us what he can do.

Some of their contributions were minimal. I’ve raised this point many time before, regardless of his frustrating lack of finishing Dobbin had a direct hand in us collecting points last season. He scored 3 and assisted 4 in the league during his first season of men’s football. He had raw pace and the ability to panic defences. Whilst he definitely could have done more given the chances he wasted, there’s plenty of reason to believe a 20 year old with those raw talents could improve.
We might find better loan options, or at least more consistently effective ones, but he wasn’t the disaster some people like to paint him as.

I like the business we are doing.
Whilst some of our fans have been losing their minds, our management team have been working hard and getting what look to be solid signings in key areas in defence that needed addressing.
Hopefully they are in the process of pulling the same trick with midfield and attack which also need addressing.
Obviously there’s no certainties with new signings, but things look good on paper.

David McGoldrick.  Had several poor seasons and many thought him a dud.  Then he knocks it out the park.
We have to give the management and recruitment team the benefit of the doubt that they know the strategy and who they want.
We are not going to be getting Messi, so we have to support the players signed.  Some will be a disappointment, others inspired.

I’m not sure I follow your logic either. Every season for every club since I first watched footy could have been different were it not for a ref decision here or there or a save or a missed open goal. Twas ever thus and ever will be.
The plain fact is that we weren’t good enough to go up this year. We challenged but fell short. The proof lies in the table. Lots of reasons for that chief amongst them in my view - you may not agree - the effects of the financial and disciplinary issues we’ve faced. Our club has been decimated from the academy upwards and Clowes, rightly i think, decided after his internal review that the issues on and off the pitch needed time to fix, thus the 4 year contract for his chosen manager and the 5 years to get established in the championship goal.  They go hand in hand.
I suspect that he runs his, very successful, business in the same way. Building (excuse the pun) it over time. He’s not the type, it seems to me (and I’ve never met him) to chuck a load of money at something for instant success, rather he wants to build a club on firmer foundations over time, thus 4 years and 5 years. Logical. And, in my view, sensible, especially given what went before him. But demanding patience from those of us that watch. If we go up next year then great; if it’s the year after then not as good but so be it.

NellyRam reacted to Caerphilly Ram in List of who you would sign this summer?
We do need about 7/8 players, that’s not new info to most people is it? We need 2 or 3 centre backs, 2 or 3 fullback/wingbacks and then additions in midfield and attack.
We’re in a good position in that the shaping of the squad is pretty much done regarding retained players and the recruitment of new players is allegedly already in motion. We’re ahead of where we need to be and with a level of stability we haven’t seen in a good few years.
If the majority of the squad are in place for the start of pre-season, with only a few changes in and out before the season kicks off, I don’t think we’ve got much to worry about. In fact, I’m very optimistic about it all.

Yer we need some new players B4 that's for real. I hope the ones you mentioned stay with us.
People can start slagging Warne after he's had a proper transfer window and got in the players he wants and results aren't where they should be.
Until then they need to wind their necks in.

Good luck Craig Forsyth. You and Curtis both legends as far as I'm concerned. Despite Craig's maybe weaknesses (and I much appreciate his attitude, whatever, coming back from horrible injuries) I always admire his ability to cross the ball with a Hinton-esque style. Discuss (maybe).

Having looked at some of your previous strange mutterings I'm guessing you're a wummer. If not, you seriously need to give your head a wobble and if that doesn't sort things out, seek treatment - and sooner the better.

With releasing 3 centre backs this make sense when you factor in our preferred formation of a back 3. Has reinvented himself several times in his time here, offers experience, a bit of versatility as although I doubt he'd last 90 as a wing back, but either Left back in a 4 or left side of a 3 are both options and probably by next year would have been ahead of the 3 we've let go.
With our budget we still need to be careful, so we dont want to be needing to get more players in than necessary, if we had Cashin, and Rooney that would be 4 CBs needed, in my view. Perhaps its 3 now.
