IslandExile reacted to Ellafella in Stick Together More than Ever
Throughout these ruinous last 24 months my morale has been sustained by the robust presence of WR & LR and the superb togetherness of the fans. But WR’s resignation hit me like a train on Friday; after reading David Clowes’s statement I was floating …but the news just a few hours later utterly floored me.
3 days later I’m starting to rally. Surveying the Club today - the fragments- what do we have? Well not much left. Except, we still have huge support and a shared experience of last season where the centrality of the fans to football in Derby was palpably demonstrated time and again.
I felt flattened on Friday. But I’m regaining strength Monday from the memory of those indefatigable songs of defiance. Let’s keep the faith and re-group and continue to show ourselves and if we do so I know we will bounce back. We’re all in this together so let’s stick together and re-build stronger.

IslandExile got a reaction from Carnero in New manager, who do you want?
I do know what you mean. I feel the same way about Jody Morris.
I really like them both but I struggle to imagine them as the main man, the manager - some people seem to make better assistants.
That all said, I'd like to see Rosenior have a few months in the role to see how he gets on.
We'll be good enough to stay up but won't have enough decent, new players to make a serious promotion challenge. So this season is a free hit really while we consolidate and shine our nice new clean slate.

The last bloke I heard saying he didn't really want the job but didn't want some idiot coming in and messing up was Bob Paisley at Liverpool 1974, he didn't do too badly?

I saw Bucko at a footy tournament today and asked him if he’d applied. His response was ‘if I’d won a few at Burton I might have’. ?? top bloke.

No no no, We've the season to look forward too, Compare 2 keepers, Shyte formations, Moaning crowds, Milk turns quicker than our forwards, Our defence has a turning circle of the Titanic, Our wide men run slower than Bob Desert with 2 broken legs, Rosenior should never been given the job, The bloke next to me if he doesn't shut the phuk up he's gonna get it.
Bring on next season and lets get back to normal on here

Roymac, frenetically scouring Twitter for breaking news.
Wily old Curtains waiting for Roy to do the hard work for him before a cheeky re-post of his own.

IslandExile got a reaction from Comrade 86 in How do we get a Manager to stay with the club?
Appoint managers with a similar style so, when one goes, another can take over without a full revamp of the squad.
Look at the different styles of Lampard and Rowett as an example of what I mean.

IslandExile got a reaction from Dordogne-Ram in Rooney leaves
So I had been thinking Rooney left because he was tied into Kirchner's bid.
But someone posted a link to an article in the Sun (cannot find it now), which said he left so he can focus on getting his coaching badges.
Pretty mundane as explanations go but it does make sense now I think about it.
When asked about the Everton job, Rooney said something along the lines of "I am ready to be a Premier League Manager, I think I am good enough to do it. But, right now, my focus is on Derby County". There was still a chance, at that time, of avoiding relegation and ownership wasn't resolved.
Now relegation has happened and the club is on the verge of salvation, I believe Rooney thinks his job here is done and that he can now focus on his own career. He clearly has aspirations of managing at the top level - and feels he's ready, even if Derby are still some way off.
So I wholeheartedly thank him for keeping the club together during arguably its most difficult time. Thank you for your loyalty, dignity and resolve.
Good luck in your future career.?

I’m convinced that if he ever returns to PP as the manager of the visiting team (you never know, we might get drawn against a premier league team in one of the cups one day ?) he’ll get a well deserved very warm welcome.
