There's a striker in league one banging them in - very experienced at a much higher level

has started 17 league games and has 10 league goals this season

according to some 'fans' is one of the worst strikers we've had at the club,

scored 12 goals last season to assist with McGoldrick

yep he's still good enough, not out of contract in a couple of weeks, and yes we already have him - James Collins

1Wildsmith - 6.5, kept us in with a shout with some big saves
24Nyambe - 6, toughest game of the season so far for him
35Nelson - 6.5, could he have done better for the 3rd?
6Cashin - 6.5, forced into mistakes that he wouldn't normally make, testament to the Peterborough attackers
3Forsyth - 5.5, struggled with the attacks down his side
20Elder - 7, looked much more assured than Fozzy in the 1st half
4Hourihane - 5, two games in a few days looked to be too much, MoM for me last game, not to be in this one
16Thompson - 6.5, battled away, better with him in midfield
2Wilson - 7.5, main threat but looked as though the quick turnaround took its toll, to be expected
    24Ward - 6, looked much better
11Méndez-Laing - 4.5, failed to track back at all, don't think he beat a man all game, unusually poor
19John-Jules - 6, great shot on the turn, not much else to say
8Bird - 6, largely anonymous but was he trying to do the job of two CMs?
9Collins - 9, ran his socks off, two deserved goals, led the press all the way through
7Barkhuizen - 5, got the assist, but offered nothing else
17Sibley - 6, largely struggled but the midfield looked better with him in it

    1Wildsmith - 6.5
23Ward - 5 - defensive decision making makes the mind boggle, but he is by far the best crosser of the ball in the team
2Wilson - 8 - changed the game when he came on, needs to start, perhaps in front of Nyambe?
    35Nelson - 8 - solid as a rock
    6Cashin - 8 - solid as a rock
3Forsyth - 6.5 - average, not the Fozzy of old, but good enough at this level
4Hourihane - 7 - took his goal well and controlled the midfield
    16Thompson - 6
7Barkhuizen - 5 - i can see why he gets in the team, work rate is fantastic, but no end product, poor crosses, poor decision making
    20Elder - 6
22Fornah - 5.5 - tried, but perhaps his worst game so far, looked a little lost
19Sibley - 7.5 - like Wilson, changed the game, offering something no other midfielder in the team does (driving forwards at the defence)
    8Bird - 6.5 - average game
11Méndez-Laing - 6.5 - quiet game but always a threat on the ball
    19John-Jules - 6
9Collins - 7.5 - hardly any service but didnt stop the press, lots of his work goes unseen in my opinion

    At The Game:

    1Wildsmith - 6 - Nothing much to do
24Nyambe - 6.5 - Not his best game, but did enough defensively
    7Barkhuizen - 6.5 - Scrappy tackle to win the ball back for a pre-assist
    35Nelson - 7.5 - Under the radar, solid
6Cashin - 8 - Dealt with Uche impeccably, made him look like Bambi on Ice
    3Forsyth - 6.5 - Did enough defensively
    4Hourihane - 6 - Beat your first man, please
    17Sibley - 6 - Only had 2 minutes
2Wilson - 8 - Such a talent, shame about his injury record, just hope he can stay fit - totally positive footballing mindset
22Fornah - 7 - Covered the entirety of the pitch, few dodgy moment (release the ball quicker) but persevered
8Bird - 7 - Somewhat quiet game but some silky stuff down the left side between him and NML
11Méndez-Laing - 7 - Not his best game (giving up on the pass by Cashin that Cashin himself had to chase down to keep in), but he is something special, vital to the promotion charge
5Bradley - 6 - Solid when on the pitch, does the job
9Collins - 7.5 - No service when he was on the pitch, but kept chasing down dead ducks, sharp mind when off the ball
    19John-Jules - 7 - 1st touch of class for the goal

Collins did everything that could reasonably have been asked of him tonight IMO. Didn't hesitate to shoot when he got sight of goal, got his shots on target, forced a couple of decent saves from the keeper, ran his socks off pulling the defence around. Maybe if he'd got that chance that JJ did, he'd have buried it too. But he didn't get a 1v1 with time to place his spot, and that wasn't his fault.
A pacey striker coming on with 20 minutes to go is what we've missed all season and, while Collins doesn't always perform, I couldn't fault him tonight. Give him credit for softening the defence up.

Id be genuinely shocked if anyone thought lack of movement was one of Collins faults.
His main fault is that he moves too much instead of staying where he should be.

Some fans really are desperate to prove their point. Over on FB, a chap posted a couple of seconds of video from last night to "prove" how crap Collo is. In the video, he's central inside the 6 yard box and the pass goes behind him, he manages to reach back with his left foot but, obviously, can't get it on target. This is proof, said the poster, of how crap Collo is.
Half a second later the ball is in the air around the right hand post, gets nodded back across goal by, possibly, Bird (?), Collo executes a decent overhead kick, keeper sticks out a hand and knocks it away... straight to Sibs' left foot and he gets his, and our, 2nd of the night.
How the bloke took no more from what happened than "Collo is crap" is a total mystery.
Do I think Collo works hard, does his defensive duties well and has a great work rate? Yes.
Do I think his control could be better, he should foul less, jump more often for high balls and spend more time in the opposition box than he does? Yes.
Do I think he's possibly the best player we currently have for the wat PW wants us to play? Yes.
He's not Coldplay. He doesn't have the hold up game CM has. He does have the likes of NML, Bird, Barks, Sibs who could do the "running on to the ball" that the likes of Hughes, Hendrick and Bryson did when playing together with CM. Unfortunately Collo isn't a CM playalike. Of the #9s we have, I think he's better in the role, as required by PW, than Wash or Waggy. I've not seen enough of Dajaune Brown to make a call on him.
Does Collo frustrate? Yes. However, IMO, and some will disagree and that's fine, he's the best we have for the role PW wants his #9 to play.

Sibley has been victim to being overcoached, not having a consistent run in the side and not getting a chance to play to his strengths. He definitely has got some quality and let's not forget, he's 22 and played over 100 matches. He can still grow to be a top player for the club.
His first full season was the COVID era. The whole team struggled to adapted to playing with no home supporters. Second full season, Rooney kept playing his mate Ravel Morrison in Sibleys position and most of his appearances after the first 6 games were off the bench. I think he only played 4 or 5 full 90 minutes. Then last season Warne chucked him in at wing back with full knowledge it wasn't his best position. Played lots of games but rarely played further forward until the last stretch of games where he was excellent.
He has not had a fair opportunity to play in attacking midfield consistently since supporters returned after COVID. Simple as that. With some more confidence, I think he can offer so much more creativity. Warne keeps moaning about the lack of an alternative going forward. He's got Sibley right in front of his nose and flat out refuses to give him a chance up the field.
Feel bad for the lad, he deserves much better than this.

Whether starting or off the bench, he should be played in his best position and that is not left back, left wing back or left wing or defensive midfielder. I sincerely hope PW knows and understands that...

    Some great names on here:

Tariqe Fosu - 88 Games in League 1, 20 Goals from 2017-2020 -  most recently on loan at Stoke & Rotherham in the Championship managing a measley 1 goal in 39 games - would he drop back down, only 27 years old

Josh Onomah - Tottenham youth, most recently at Preston, playing in the Premier League 2 seasons ago, doubt he would drop back down but... only 26

Benik Afobe - Most recently in the UAE, wages an issue, hasnt played in League One since 2013/14 scoring 10 goals in 22 games, most recently scored 12 in 38 in the Championship for Millwall in 2021-22

Ryan Nyambe - 32 Apps for Wigan covering LB, RB and CB in the Championship, shrewd cover?

Matty Longstaff - 23 years old and now without a club, loan moves to Aberdeen, Mansfield and Colchester in recent years, energetic midfielder that has made 14 Premier League appearances, only worry is he's never played at this level, just the 18 appearances in League Two, is he an unknown?

Fankaty Dabo - Surprised he hasnt yet found a club, and doubt he'd come to play 2nd / 3rd fiddle for the Wing Back spot, Coventry's first choice RB for their promotion charge, and is still only 27

Liam Moore - ex Reading captain who seems to have been around forever, yet is only 30 - wages probably an issue and hasnt stepped foot out of the championship since 2012, strange he hasnt been picked up by a promoted side, would he come here as a backup? probably not...

Tom Rogic - big surprise that he is still without a club, have to think wages again would be an issue most recently playing for WBA, Australian international who can play anywhere in the centre of Midfield

Steven Sessengnon - loan move to Charlton last season as their first choice LB, but can also cover RB and CB - good cover and can't be expecting big wages?

I can see our signings from now on fitting into 4 categories

Older player signing for 1 year ie Waggy
Champ Level player who gets fed up of hanging on for a champ club ie Onomah
A player we have been chasing and suddenly becomes available ie Godden
A young loanee when Prem or Upper Champ clubs are finalising their squads in late August ie Dobbin

As an aside to all this, an indication as to how a club can have a bearing on a persons mental health is this. My dad died suddenly on 31 Jan 22 and the first time I started to feel any cheer since his death was on Tuesday night watching Derby score 3 goals. It broke the malaise.
