It is said that the EFL board have external advice that Middlesbrough and Wycombe are football creditors - and therefore owed every penny - but the relevant law changed only recently and the EFL rulebook has not been updated to reflect it.

So can someone explain why The Efl should be in adversarial legal battle with an appointed solvency practitioner that is trying to get the best deal for all creditors of the club?
shouldnt Efl just mind it’s own business? Which incidentally it also is not doing very well if Daily Mail story today is correct.

I don't think they have just discovered it. I think they went into the meeting with it. The EFL threw it out and the administrators thought the EFL were not complying with law, hence the statement on Friday. 
Since then, I'm guessing they have found out that the EFL rules haven't changed since the law was, and this is why the meeting went so badly on Friday. Challenge the rule, with fan power meaning it has to be done quickly, and it all falls into place. 

My contention about the EFL's position is that just because Boro and Wycombe are football clubs it shouldn't mean that they should be treated as Football Creditors in respect of these claims. 
The Football Creditor rule was designed to protect players wages and transfer fees owed to other clubs, not to protect non-debts. The EFL appear to think that any sums claimed by another club should override actual debts owed to charities, local authorities and local traders - it's a bunch of elitists protecting an elite to the detriment of ordinary people. It's shameful.

This isn’t about neutrality though. The EFL have a disciplinary process. That process has been followed and the relevant punishments handed out. But we’ve now got the case where 2 unrelated clubs have decided that they don’t like the results of that process and are taking matters into their own hands. It’s surely one of the most basic functions of the EFL to tell them that the disciplinary process is final, otherwise what’s the point of any of it? 

The EFL cannot apply rules that are unlawful. Did you not read the Quantuma statement? It's not about "rules" or "discretion". It's about the "statute". And anyway EFL can change the rules, they are obviously in deep trouble on this. 
 

The line to take against the EFL is that they’re complicit in attempting to place Boro and Wycombe as football creditors and edging them ahead of genuine creditors like HMRC.
