RedSox reacted to TheTinMan in Derby v Cheltenham (A) Match Thread
Worried about their overload in midfield? The side who hadn't scored a league goal before today had Warne worried? This is us in a nutshell we get worried about teams we are miles better than. Respect them by all means but just play our game and beat them with the superior quality

That was an undoubtedly poor result.
We were the better team and played ok in patches………..but it’s a very low bar!
I can’t understand the reluctance to sub Collins.
Should have moved Waghorn upfront with Sibley, Bird or even Hourihane coming on as sub at HT for Collins, would have given us a much better chance/cutting edge.
If you can see it’s not working, you change it. We didn’t and we got exactly what we deserved.
Very frustrating and the RD interview doesn’t sound good. I’ll reserve judgement till I’ve actually heard it mind.

You (and others) appear to have misunderstood my stance. I’m not a staunch Paul Warne supporter, I’m not looking to get into either camp. I’m in the middle, or perhaps slightly more “Warne in” because I’m tired of the circus Derby has been for the last few years and am quite content to have a bit of stability for a while without the drama. That’s maybe where I fit into a minority.

RedSox reacted to Simmo’s left foot in Signing Of The Season So Far???
I'd agree with others Nyambe, Fornah and Nelson looking very good. I think the team is generally improving as they get to know each other too.

That last question is a big ol’ stretch, he regularly praises the support the fans give both home and away. There have been 3 games this season that have ended in booing, perhaps he felt like addressing that a little?
He’s not ruining every moment, he’s made some comments, everyone knows he can make comments in his interviews that don’t always fit everyone’s views, don’t let it bother you 🤷🏻♂️

Top performance that & an excellent result
Korey Smith's best game for us surely - oozed class on the ball, got through plenty of defensive work & thoroughly deserved his goal. Bird was obviously just coming back from injury but some sublime touches from him - along with Fornah, made for a very effective midfield even though Blackpool kept the ball very well at times. Lads at the back were also immense - Cashin & Nelson very strong, Nyambe continues to really impress & Forsyth did well against CJ Hamilton's pace.
Fantastic options off the bench too - Barkhuizen, Waghorn, Sibley, Hourihane & Bradley and all contributed to getting us over the line. Now injuries are starting to clear up, it's time for us to start stringing together results & firmly embed ourselves in the top 6.
Fans class tonight by the way - well done everyone who travelled. Made a right racket 👏🐏

So here are some measured comments - unusual for me, I know! The first 20 ro so minutes, it was a reasonable watch. Nothing special happening, fairly even game but Derby in pretty good control. Then the video feed disappeared, so I missed the goal, and Carlisle's period of pressure, and by the time it came back on screen, the match had changed. Apparently Simmo made a tactical switch, and suddenly they were back in the game, apart from being behind. Rumour has it that he smuggled a piece of paper out to each Derby player with the message "From now on, boot it as high as you can, hood it long". Love from Warney.
And that was the story of the match for the rest of the 90 minutes, apart from three isolated occasions where we got the ball on the floor and put a few passes together. And each time we created an opening. Not that we did much with those openings, but never mind.
Nelson did pretty well, as did Fornah and the new guy does look good. But not much else. And no, the ref wasn't biased towards Derby. He was actually fairly anonymous, which is how it should be. A couple of bungled decisions, and a soft penalty to us.
I am glad we won, and glad that we did while playing so badly, but with the performances as they are at the moment I am not proud of Derby County. I had hoped after Tuesday that we had turned a corner, and for 20 minutes felt that we were continuing in that direction, especially when Paul said Tuesday was how he wanted us to play. But we were very quickly back to what caused the outcry last week.
Come on Paul. We can do much better than this.

It's quite an unpleasant forum on here sometimes isn't it.
The blokes doing his job,has some time off for unknown reasons and gets personally slagged off by fellow derby supporters whilst he does so.

That was never a penalty. It was as bad as the penos that are awarded against us.

RedSox reacted to S8TY in Don’t be too dismayed Rosenier ball is still painful
Exactly this ….I’ve always played possession football when I’ve managed in both youth and senior football
When you re watch the games after with the players one of my biggest examples of what not to do was to panic and go long into the channels or just cross for the sake of crossing as some say the opposition can’t score if the ball is in there own half but that is not what you want a team when playing possession football to do if it’s not on you keep the ball go backwards or sideways and keep the ball and be patient do not force it when it’s not on and keep the ball maybe switch it ( quickly ) to the other side and get forward on that side but …ultimately …keep the ball …I learnt from being involved in games out in Holland against very good youth sides that would pass us English sides off the pitch and getting the ball back was difficult …but luckily that has changed a lot now in our game and you only have to look at the beat teams in this country to see higher possession sides are usually more successful ..the passing sideways may have bored some but it was only part of the process and it would’ve got better ..he only had 10 games and that wasn’t enough ….I felt for his pure loyalty alone ( and let’s not forget it must’ve been tempting to walk away to another job during the last season in the championship with all that was going on ) he deserved the season and then seen where we were at progress wise
but it’s done now …hopeful signs of better football on Tuesday but let’s see if it continues…Warne isn’t a possession biased manager so have my doubts but still like him as a person

Passing guru? You are bizarrely trying to mock a former manager who is currently sitting sixth in the Championship, unbeaten since the opening day and who just took four points off former PL sides in the past two weeks.
Hull scored more goals against Sheffield Wednesday (a team we scored zero against under Warne last season) in one home game than we have in all our home league games combined this season.
I don’t really care about the no shots on target stat anyway. You can create golden chances and not shoot on target, or you can have ten shots on target all from range which barely causes the goalkeeper to flinch.
We simply barely create any chances under Warne and coincidentally the football is crap.
I much preferred the football we played under Rosenior, and we created far more golden chances (which we missed most of them).

I was in the Warne had 4 more games camp. I'm suggesting this is a bit of a free hit as we had no creative players fit
He's still 4 games away for me.
I'm not hopeful though.

RedSox reacted to Bald Eagle's Barmy Army in Fan Forum (not this one)
Just watched the first part of the forum.
To say that the U21s game only finished a few hours before the forum and he couldn’t even remember the score line along with not knowing the name of the player who’d just scored a hatrick is disrespectful to all of the academy. The only players he made reference to was his own first team players that played in that game.

RedSox reacted to ilkleyram in Will Derby County get back in Premiership
No reason in principle why not but a lot of things have to go right at the same time from player to manager (and that is NOT a comment about our current manager). And above all we would have to have a lot of luck going our way on everything from referees decisions to academy fruitfulness.
If there’s anything I worry about about David Clowes’ ownership is his relative wealth. He’s clearly a rich man by any stretch of imagination. Good for him. But he isn’t football rich it seems to me even at championship level never mind PL level. When you have clubs effectively owned by countries rather than individuals then having a couple of hundred million isn’t enough, especially if you then want your club/business to be self sustainable.
There are reasons why very few (can’t name any but I presume there are some) football clubs are actually self sustainable and genuinely have income greater than expenditure. I doubt any in the PL actually are, nor the championship for that matter and so for us to get there requires someone to spend/gamble enough to make it possible or take a long time (and have a lot of patience). We’re not a club with a lot of patience from top to bottom as these pages often demonstrate.
I don’t know how many years of watching live football I have left. I’ve done 60 or so. David Clowes’ relative financial weakness is a huge problem for football as a whole and is the result of FFP and TV plus feeble football administration. I live in hope that we will gain two promotions in the next 10 years or so and that I see it, but I’m not expecting it. We certainly can’t win anything in the top league any more other than individual matches. I am just glad that I have lived through the golden age of football when football life was simpler, fairer and better. And we were good.
