I just wanted to share my thoughts on our current situation. Personally, I don't see our team as being worthy of promotion at the moment. It's frustrating to watch, but I think our hands are tied due to the transfer restrictions imposed on us.
In my opinion, the 2-year ban on transfers from the EFL was too harsh. It's clear that they wanted to make an example out of our club, without any consideration for the impact it would have on us fans. We're now facing the possibility of losing some of our best players like Cashin and Knight in the summer, which is really going to harm our chances.
It's not fair that the EFL is happy to give demoted Premier League teams an unfair advantage with parachute payments, but they're so quick to punish us for a mistake our former owner made. It just feels immoral to punish Derby in this way.
To add to our troubles, some of our older players seem tired and worn out from playing too many physical games. It's a tough time to be a Rams fan, but I'm still holding out hope for brighter days ahead.
Are we expecting too much of the younger less experienced players we have.

The long term plan must be to reach a place of financial means once again.
That in mind, if its not this season or next season I'm OK with that.
I don't see us outside of the play offs this season or next, im ok with that.
Three years from now is another story, we will be outside the efl punishment zone.
We will reach a point in time when Derby can spend a transfer budget, as one of the teams with a top 3 attendance in the league, we will be able to spend a decent amount on transfers.
We will no longer be reliant on free agents but can then bring in quality to win promotion.
If the teams not strong enough yet to get automatic promotion, I don't want to be promoted and be everybody's punching bag in the Championship.
I'm looking forward to the day when we can add quality signings to the team and then that season, we are getting promoted.
I accept that might not be this season or even next season, but a club of derbys size is definitely not staying in League one.
It took Leeds 3 years to escape league one, then they went to the championship, then to the Premier league.

Well put. Warne very keen to shoehorn in 2 up front, and when it didn't work with 3-5-2, today was a different approach.
As a result we ceded midfield control, were often overran and were sucked all too easily into their hoofball.
After last week I understand why the boss went with it again but it was never working. I'd have considered changing it before half time, but definitely at half time. And absolutely by the 55 minute mark.
When we did change it smacked of desperation, bringing Davies on to play up front and Sibley to play left back. That's just silly. We were desperate for someone to be able to carry the ball through midfield. I expect White will now start next game now, but I will campaign to have both the Sibley twins there.

My criticism of Collins is in reference to his goal threat.
I’m not going to knock anyone in a Derby shirt who puts in the effort he does.
My firm hope is that he can improve his game by gambling more with his positioning in the penalty area.

Another player with very little resale value, am under performer by all accounts.
I can't see this happening as I read something about pw only signing players that improve the team, and also wanting to sign players that are aged 30 or under.

The fact our business plan doesn’t allow us to offer more than a 2-year contract is ridiculous. How are we supposed to ensure financial security long term but cannot put younger players on longer term contracts. EFL are clueless again.

Football is all about emotional rollercoasters.
Rumour that your club is chasing some superstar signing leads to feelings of disbelief, hope, excitement, anticipation, impatience.
Eventually to be followed by realization, disappointment, despondency, disillusionment, pain, anxiety.
It's what we're all in it for.

Agree. Waghorn is finished, he's well past his best now. I think we got him just at the right point of his career where he was at his peak, or maybe even just after it. That season at Ipswich he was very good as he was in his first season with us. After that you could sort of see the decline. I think we got as much as we could out of waghorn.

    good analysis of derbys chances.
points towards a need to strengthen, but without spending a transfer fee thats very difficult.
loans and free agents probably are not enough to see promotion.
The ability to pay a transfer fee gives plymouth, sheffield wednesday and ipswich an advantage over derby.
