    https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/under-normal-circumstances-derby-county-fan-pundit-outlines-paul-warne-play-off-concern/
Derby fan pundit Shaun Woodward is concerned that Warne's influence is tempered by the fact he's not had long enough to build a squad.
He told FLW: “I think under normal circumstances it would be huge to have someone like Paul Warne guiding us into the play-offs and through the play-offs because he is used to doing so well at Rotherham.
“However, I think this year I don’t think it really makes much of a difference because this isn't his team as such, he hasn't got the players and the characters that he would probably want if I'm honest through the whole squad. So, I think at the moment yes it helps the players knowing that they've got a manager that's been there and done it, but a lot of these players are really experienced anyway, and they probably don't need a manager to kind of help them perform on the day, maybe some of the younger players will look at him to guide them.
“But ultimately, I think it's down to the players more than Paul Warne this season I think next season maybe moving forward when he can get his own players and yes it will be massive having someone like him at the helm but right now, I think it's more down to the players.”

That might be true, I'm concerned that a lot of clubs compete for talent amongst the free agents, which means it's a challenge.
Several new teams join league one next season.
Pw says he will only buy if they improve what we have now, and keep team harmony.
If any club is willing to pay a transfer fee or higher salary, we don't get the player.
We get an early start than last summer, in terms of trying to bring talent in.
It's my belief the team requires surgery ie a big change with many new faces that better fit the 352 formation that pw is on record as saying he wants to play.
I read that pw is looking for players in the 23 to 30 age range, that makes the challenge harder, but understandable if he wants resale value for players.
The summer after this the club finally gets to spend some transfer money, I'm excited about that.

Considering Clowes has said we have a good relationship with the EFL and they held their conference at our stadium earlier this season if I remember right, I think we can lay off the EFL have it in for us line.

Do I think they had it in for Morris? Yeah.

But the key saying is that if something can be explained by incompetence or malice, it is usually incompetence.

So it should be either 11 Plymouth or Ipswich players when you think about it.

Speaking to Derbyshire Live, he said: “We’re trying to bring a striker in that suits us and suits the way we play. If we can’t, then we can’t, there’s no point in just going to get a striker for strikers’ sake.”
Warne is keen to ensure that his side doesn’t repeat the mistakes of the past, with squad harmony a huge factor in his decision-making.
“That’s the problem with January and I don’t like the January window. It is literally there for mistakes that have been made in the previous summer because that’s really what you’re doing which is trying to correct what went wrong.
“We have a substantial amount left of the budget available but it has to improve what we’ve got and if it isn’t going to improve what we got then I’m not going to spend it.”
Warne confirmed that he is still in the market for a striker but he will not be pressured into signing one for the sake of it.

I enjoy watching McGoldrick play. And while his numbers are impressive, they’re actually a bit flawed.
He has 21 league goals, but nine of those came with 3 hattricks in games we would have won regardless - FGR, Bristol Rovers and Morecombe.
Take those out and he has 12 goals in 40 league games. Still decent, but not that consistent.
He also netted in comfortable wins over Charlton, Accrington, Cheltenham, FGR plus the one in our thrashing at Barnsley.
I’d say his most important goals this season was the winner vs Posh early season, the equalizer at Port Vale and his double last night.
But there have also been many games this season where he hasn’t had an impact. In fact, only 4 of his 21 goals this season have come against top half sides.

It's a very interesting point. I think it's more important to have a striker that suits your style of play and generally helps create lots of goals, rather than be the one to necessarily score them all.
I feel like McGoldrick has carried the team in recent months, both in his goals and technical ability. He's pretty much the only one that can make the ball stick in the final third- see the 2nd goal yesterday: clearance header, impeccable touch by Didzy, turn, and then start the pattern of play that leads to the goal.. I'd say that's more important than whoever it was that blasts the ball in from 8 yards to finish the move?
It's worrying to think where we'd be this season without him. I do think it was needed this season with how disjointed the squad is, though- someone that can produce moments of quality is vital in these sort of teams. Next season with a more cohesive squad it'll be interesting to see if we need the same talismanic figurehead, as our overall play should be stronger and we should be less reliant on individuals.
