Lets hope so..read this this morning so maybe good news
'PHE scientists think with "moderate confidence" that it spreads at least as quickly as the version of the virus first found in Kent last year - known as B.1.1.7 - which is currently dominant in the UK.
But a source has told the BBC there is no evidence this version of the Indian variant is resistant to current vaccines.'

There are over 100 cases linked to Wilsthorpe School in Long Eaton. Shows how rapidly it can still spread in a confined space.
What will be interesting to see is whether any of these become serious, or whether the vaccinations within family and contacts are sufficient to keep people out of hospital.
    I hope it's the latter.

We wouldn't need to.  We'd vote and elect a president, and they would be the chairperson for a couple of years...until we decided that they didn't know what they were doing and we'd elect another one.
They wouldn't have unlimited decision making power. Some issues, if they were important enough, would have to be put to the club members for a vote.  It will all work flawlessly, trust me.. ?

Any chance there are 20,000 Derby County fans, each with £4,000 or whatever to spare?  We could buy the club ourselves if that were the case. A fan owned Derby County.. our club would really be OUR club then.
I just need to find 19,999 people to agree with me now.. ?
If all clubs had this model, what a far better state football would be in.  Just look at the Champions League, Man City, Chelsea, PSG, the petrodollar gang were all there. The inequity, and the distortion of football due to the billionaire owner model has reached crisis proportions.
For all the stupendous awfulness of the ESL (and it's a truly dreadful concept), is really that much worse than what we are seeing already? Apologies gone off on a tangent now.

Apologies if this has already been said but it looks to me like Mel and Erik have struck a 'hand-in-hand' deal, whereby the purchase of the Club (probably for a relatively nominal fee given its dwindling assets and loss-making status) is linked to the separate purchase of the real estate (stadium, training ground, or any combination of these!) for a far greater amount - for the sake of argument (as I have not a clue) lets say that is for the amount Mel bought it from the Club for at £80m
If that is the case, then Our Erik may well be able to 'fund the deal' for the Club out of cash. Probably be able to do so by emptying the change out of his pockets because its likely to be (relative) peanuts.
But he would then need to raise funds against the stadium to purchase that. And how will that debt be serviced? Most likely through a lease/rental/service charge fee levied by Erik on the Cub for the use of the stadium. An £80m asset at 4% rental, that's (a hypothetical) £3.2m per year straight out of operating income.
By most sensible definitions, this scenario would be the club paying for itself, albeit through a circuitous route.
But then it might be the only way the Club can move forward because until the ownership changes the Club remains in the quick sand up to it's neck.
And if this model allows Erik to spend a bit of cash on revamping the playing squad over the short term, it might even pay dividends.

We could pray Rotherham are smashing Cardiff at halftime, so Weds stop trying, allowing us to nick a later winner.
It will be in Rotherham's favour to keep their game a tight as possible to stop this happening.

Really good first post, @Ram Logan Josh!
I remember thinking at the beginning of the season that our starting XI looked stronger than the season before, so am as shocked as you at how it has gone for us this year. I mean, can we honestly say that there is a huge difference in quality between these (imaging our best available sides, injury free)...
Last season: Hamer, Bogle, Wisdom, Clarke, Buchanan, Rooney, Bielik, Knight, Sibley, Lawrence, Martin
This season: Marshall, Byrne, Wisdom, Clarke, Buchanan, Shinnie, Bielik, Jozwiak, Knight, Lawrence, Kazim-Richards
There's certainly not enough of a difference there for anyone to have reasonably suspected we would end up where we are.
My diagnosis? Two managers who have got it very, very wrong this season. Cocu and Rooney have not been good enough, along with the rest of the coaching team. I think, regardless of what division we're in next season, we need to start the next one without them.

ariotofmyown reacted to Ram Logan Josh in Last season - July 2020. What went wrong?
On 1st July 2020 we had 60 points from 40 games, were in 7th place in the Championship and 1 point behind Cardiff in the playoff places.
We'd just beaten Preston away with the following team:
    Hamer
    Lowe | Clarke | Evans | Bogle
    Bird | Rooney
    Knight | Sibley | Holmes
    Waghorn
Used subs: Shinnie, Martin, Forsyth, Davies
Unused subs: Josefzoon, Roos, Whittaker, JHI
    Cocu was coach of course
The team's changed a bit since then, but there must be more to it than that.  Surely not all those changes worsened the squad? If we started on Saturday with the following team:
    Marshall
    Buchanan| Clarke | Wisdom| Byrne
    Bird | Shinnie
    Knight | Sibley | Jozwiak
    Waghorn
Would that be such a materially worse line-up on paper?  Personally I'd choose CKE rather than Waghorn, but you get the point.  And I hope we get three points...
First-time poster, so please be gentle...

So it looks like Alonso hasn’t been completely open with his intentions and this would be a leveraged buy out as opposed to a cash deal. Doesn’t mean he can’t complete the deal but it is isn’t ideal and could expose us to further risk down the line. Gut feeling says we probably don’t want him.
Where I’m struggling to join the dots is then some people have taken this to mean Mel is going to plunge the club into administration because he won’t fund us anymore. That is some leap!! This has not been mentioned anywhere, the same people were saying oh we’re not going to pay players wages through to the end of the season!! Players had one month without pay as funds weren’t in place due to the first takeover expecting to go through - there has not been one single problem since. It’s this blind baseless negativity that does my head in.
Takeover could be off (we probably want it to be off) but I’m not going to jump to make accusations that Mel is going put us into administration as they would have no foundation. And as for the club losing money - because Mel is trying to sell the club, because we have Wayne Rooney we are attracting the negative publicity - many more clubs in this division are losing money hand over fist during the pandemic.
We desperately need enough vaccinated to remove all social distancing restrictions to ensure the stadium is open for business again as one of our main sources of revenues both ticket sales and corporate hospitality.

There are 2 parties that would suffer from going into administration.
1 - Derby County Football Club would end up with a point deduction
2 - I will let you work out who would suffer from any financial hit.
If MM did not give a damn about the club I'm not sure he would have kept on covering the wage bill. Perhaps you could offer to step into his shoes to show how much of a damn you give about the club?
Anyway, I will try again, do you understand the implications of going into administration and how do you think MM would benefit from it?

Subs: Roos, Buchanan, McDonald, Ebosele, Knight, Sibley, Baningime, Watson, CKR
    Tactics: Mac.
Going to need Shay Given's iPad more than ever to keep an eye on the Rotherham game?  I'm expecting Wayne to play for the draw (as usual) and then when he sees Rotherham are winning late on, throw on Ebosele, Roos, McDonald up front in place of Lawrence, Jozwiak, Roberts.

In the past 50 years twelve teams have been crowned champions of England, just twelve, one of those teams was Derby County, we were champions of England twice ! The size of a team can surely only be measured over the long term, it’s cyclical, sure we can’t compete with the big teams financially but we do have a glorious history, don’t just judge us over the past ten years, and certainly not by this season, give us some credit ! Our time will come again and until it does keep the faith !
