It's the drink that does it unfortunately. I went out last weekend with a mate had far too many and my emotions crept up on me. Not such a bad thing as it's really dangerous to keep things bottled up all of the time I know from personal experience. Try not to lose sight of all the people who love you and what a poorer world it would be for them without you in it. Am sure your mum's always happy for you to share or just unload on anytime. Counts for a lot. Stay safe.

Had a proper wobble earlier. Had a few early beers to mark second anniversary of mate’s death, abandoned mates ij Birmingham, considered doing something stupid, someone got hold of my mother, she left a voicemail, i thankfully cannot ignore my amazing mum, reset my brain... need some help. Now thinking how far I might’ve gone had I not spotted the message. Sorry. Embarrassed. But confused.

Same here, complicated further by the fact that I have hearing aids competing for space behind my tabs. Taking the mask off in a rush (or often) can often mean getting it tangled with a hearing aid or even ripping a tube out, and that's then a 15 minute repair job.

I wear glasses, they get a bit steamed up when I put my mask on. This settles down after a while so I often put it on before I drive to where I will need it.

If I have nipped out to the shop, or like yesterday, went to get a haircut, i have put my mask on at home and got in the car and driven, not for protection but just so i dont forget to put it on when i get there. Guess it depends how far i was going, if its only 5 mins or so then yeah ill wear it in the car just for that reason alone. Wouldnt if it was a long drive of course.
And also, especially from a shop, as someone who has a habit of face touching, i have worn it in the car on the way home to stop me doing so, so i can get home and do the old 20 seconds hand wash.

Shame someone didn't think of this before those pictures. Doesn't seem to require a tremendous amount of foresight to anticipate that you may need different arrivals areas to prevent mixing of people from different destinations.
As a famous liar said recently "our border policy is a joke".

While I agree with a lot of what you say, do you remember how it felt when we left Wembley in 2014 in that disgustingly beautiful bank holiday sunshine?
We were run properly. We played football properly. And QPR did neither. They'd played the system, got a light 'punishment' for it, and their team of mercenaries had no answer to our team of talented, excitable youngsters who footballed them to death. Their game plan was to soak up pressure and hope for the best.
It wasn't just the nature of Zamora's goal - it was the team that did it, and what they stood for at the time. It felt like money and greed would always win, no matter what you did.
To many other clubs in this league, we're the present day QPR. If we were still living sensibly within our own means under GSE ownership, and it was Gibson selling the Riverside to himself and outcompeting us for transfers due to creative accounting, we would want the EFL to fight our corner too.
Perhaps we haven't broken the rules, and that is why the EFL have nothing on us, but I personally feel that if the shoe was on the other foot, I'd be wanting the EFL to throw the book at the club and find anything they can.

Not read the whole thread but have to say impressed with people's views over the past couple of pages - thoughtful and considered.  Personally I'm keen to get back to normal, or whatever the new normal is however, living in a vulnerable household I shall remain cautious. No more snogging strangers, and like someone has already mentioned, I'll choose an outdoor seat at the pub where possible!  I know of two people personally who are refusing to take their jabs - mainly on the basis they are concerned about long term affects.  One to be fair is now leaning toward having it (I'm glad as she's a good friend of the family), the other remains strongly in the no camp and is adamant he'll do whatever he likes: #@$*!.   I have my 2nd jab end of this month and I can't wait.
In my view it's important we continue to work toward getting back to some sense of normality, for our well-being, the economy - a whole host of reasons.  It does need everyone though to still be cognizant that it's not all rosy, some remain vulnerable and not to ignore all risks.  What worries me is people have short memories and will be fairly blasé once they feel they're unshackled.  Same goes with holidays abroad - we've chose to completely veto the idea this year, much as I'd love to spend two weeks next to a pool sipping a Mai Tai. I've been somewhat surprised at a few people I know who are jumping on planes at the first opportunity.  Personal choice I know but for me, we're not yet on top of this, and most definitely not across Europe. For me this summer / autumn remains a bit of a test case - next year will be where things hopefully go back to some semblance of where we were pre-Covid.
I really look forward to getting back out there, but strongly hope people remain sensible - possibly a vain hope.

To be fair, I think Billy's situation has only got worse since us. As loved as he seemed to be by the squad, he was polarising in equal measure with them as well - some of which didn't make it into the final book.
Been trying to get an interview with him for three years - we persevere.

Think the Bill Davies revelations were my favourite part...the revelations of how he built that band of brothers style squad.
My opinion of him definitely went up after reading it, whilst wondering if he went on to suffer with illness. That paranoia didn't sound healthy.

This Indian strain is a great concern. Why are Indians over here not getting the Punjab? Tragic case down here, where someone not only lost their naan, but caught the virus themselves whilst caring and is now in an induced korma.

You are debating a different point there. I was talking about "before the 2nd wave" ie September time.
When those pesky scientists were forecasted lots of deaths in November and sections of our terrible media asked questions about this. When the Tory party put out tweets saying Starmer wanted to destroy the economy for suggesting we follow scientific advise and lockdown again, only to bring in the November lockdown a few days later.
You skipped past all that and suggest the Kent variant announcement in mid-December was the start of the 2nd wave, when it was actually the time the 2nd wave got even worse.
I hope you are right about the Indian variant, but there were also optimistic hopes that a 2nd wave could never be as bad/could never happen. Parts of the media pushed this dangerous narrative over the Summer and Autumn, but this never seems to provoke the same anger as when the media asks questions from the opposite point of view.

It seems people get overly angry with the media when they know the government they vote for is hopeless. A strong, competent government would render this supposedly horrid media useless. But the government is not good.
Before the 1st wave, most of the media downplayed the danger, likewise the government. They were both wrong.
Before the 2nd wave, most of the media were regularly vilified for highlighting the dangers, whilst the government told us there was nothing to worry about.
We really want things to get back to normal now, but there are some potential dangers from the Indian variant. I wish we were able to make decisions based on scientific rationale, but that ship sailed years ago. Experts are now scum.
We, the people, get the politicians and the media we deserve. Your typical tabloid reader blames the tabloids for killing Diana without a hint of irony. We think all politicians are corrupt and self-serving then vote for those who don't even pretend not to be.
In 2027, we'll probably be saying that the media are terrible for saying the 18th wave could be as bad as the 17th one.

What evidence is there of mass hysteria or the legions of terrified people that are being referred to in this thread? All I can see is people starting to return to their 'normal lives'. Seems to me that using terms like 'mass hysteria' is every bit as daft as the clickbait nonsense we see from the UK press.
