The only ' versatile' player who wasn't equally poor in all positions.

Came back at the request of Smith.  Got injured before he kicked a ball. Left 3 months later when Smith was let go as he didn't want to play under Todd.

Personally I was delighted with McGoldrick. He looked good in the premier league only two years before so was a brilliant bit of business on a free.  Losing him and Knight massively reduces the ability we have in the side.  I'd rather have hung onto those two and added Bradley and Elder as opposed to bring in the other players.  Would have been top 2 for me right there.

When he signed, I suggested that his heading ability would probably be his main asset.  Didn't see much off that last year .  I could see him get 12-15 depending on using that more.  We still need more goals though and desperately need more pace in midfield and up top. We also still need a bit more muscle in midfield for certain games where it's tight and a battle needs to be ensued. Some horrible s******** in the Eustace/Morsy mould.

I'm reading a lot about back up strikers.  I thought the bloke from Rotherham, who is supposed to run around a lot but has a dodgy knee was the back up.  We could do with someone who can start games and get goals.

Bit harsh. I think people are just expressing legitimate concern that we haven't been able to bring in a first-choice striker who looks likely to score a decent amount of goals. We all know that's something we lack.
None of us know who Warne has or hasn't been in for. Ultimately we judge the window (and Warne) by who he manages to get through the door. And at the moment we still look very light up top, and are hearing lot of noise from the club about how difficult it is to sign players and how little money we have. 
Maybe that's a negotiating tactic and maybe Warne has an ace up his sleeve. If so, great. But we don't know that either, and fans are entitled to express concern based on the situation right now. 

Godden would get 20 goals in this league.  My feeling is that A-  He'd get a one year offer on better money than we can pay from a team who need to stay in the championship or maintain a safety first mid table slot, or sitting out his last year with some game time in much nicer grounds. B-  He'd take up a whole lot of wage, if he was interested, from an injury risk viewpoint.  He's become more broken down as the years progress.  To be fair however, that's a risk with all these ageing players including one we've just signed who's recovering from a knee op.

Yeah Kav did, he also played for Burton/Mickleover and the likes, got to know him and he's a decent bloke.
You also mention Stallard, used to play an age up for Littleover Dazzlers and he was the striker in the season before he joined Derby on YTS and was a machine, shame it didn't work out for him. He was a decent wicketkeeper as well.
Some very talented kids around that age from Derby, Mark Wood (Mansfield) Ian Mcara / Brian Johnson / Nick Franklin / Corin Holness / Steve Powell Jr. (Derby) Andy Simpson (Sheff United, although also wanted by Derby, Man Utd and Arsenal) / Roger Sallis (Man Utd.) none of whom did anything in the pro game. A few did good numbers in non-league though
We also had a brilliant young keeper called Jon Thompson (not the current one) who played for England Schoolbys and was really really good, only problem was he didn't grow so joined the Navy instead.
I will never tire of saying that to become a pro, as on the whole it is a meritocracy, you have to be very exceptional

Possibly.  Seems half our defenders support Forest, get here, then are almost possessed with the desire to be beat them like Barker and Johnson. Almost like the lights appeared through the gloom and they realise they've been hoodwinked for 25 years and need atonement for falling for it. You could see the tears in Pearce's eyes during that testimonial as he kissed his badge.  Alas, it was just too late for the poor bugger.  He'll have to live with his demons and cling to that one glorious memory. 

Piss take as per with this lot. How have they been allowed to bring in anyone without assurances on their current debts being cleared. Where is their point deduction for breaking their embargo with EFL facilitation. Far more questions to be answered than when we we were stopped  extending  Marriotts contract and we were only allowed to give youngsters 1 yr deals costing bloody millions.
