Suicide is now the biggest killer of men below 40. Instead of questioning what people have to be depressed about, how about we recognise that not every injury is physical and that a lot of people can't just plaster a fake smile over the top and get on with their lives.
Anyone brave enough to admit that they're struggling is brave enough for our respect and support.

To be fair your also right to a degree and I made the decision to not end my post with the words , it might also possibly be that magic man is just a bit of a knob 🤷🏻‍♂️but in my experience very few of us are lucky enough to breeze through life without being touched in some ways by the issues being debated , im not saying it to be a smart arse ,
it’s hard to put into words without someone taking it as heartless or harsh but my feeling is that we have moved from one extreme to another ,, in the old days there was ONLY the option of tough love , suck it up and put one foot in front of the other , we are much better now but there really is still a time and a place where that’s needed too, these issues are very wide ranging and there really is no one size fits all answer for the best way for people to survive, move on and get the most from life they can and someone saying on here or elsewhere that kind of answer MAY? Be them telling themselves what’s best for themselves , who knows , we are all different and I often fall into the trap of thinking what works for me will work for others 🤷🏻‍♂️
anyway I’m going to leave that as my final opinion on the thread as it has the possibility to descend into unpleasant

Just to counter this, how does the member in question know what Ibe has gone through to be so critical of his career?
Also to be so flippant over Deli Alli suffering from sexual abuse as a child, calling it an "excuse" is disgusting.
@Magicman, I see you are claiming free speech, let me stop you right there, we have terms of use for this forum which you might want to go and read.
You do not have the freedom to be offensive, which some of your comments are borderline, maybe think about how your words may affect others that are reading this forum.

George Thorne had access to the best facilities, doctors and medication too, but he ended up retiring. I guess you also think that he "couldn't be arsed" too?

Psychiatric medication may also have side effects such as sedation, weight gain etc.  This could be relevant to Ibe. In his interview when he came back to us, he seemed somewhat sedated. So he may be doing some things to manage his symptoms that have the unintended consequence of impairing his footballing performance such as his alertness and or fitness.  I'm speculating obviously, but like others say, it is highly unfair to imply some personality flaw. He admitted to being  traumatised and feeling suicidal and so his problems have been severe. I wish him well.

You do realise that counseling isn't stage hypnotism and medications aren't magic potions?
Having access to all these things can help (although the 'wrong' medicine for a particular individual can make them far worse), but they're not an on/off switch, it's not ten sessions and you're cured forever. There isn't a one size fits all solution.
If you read the words without any thought as to the context of the conversation or the views of the person who posted them, sure, it's an accurate comment, nobody can deny it.
I think you know full well that the poster wasn't 'just' stating that his talent has been wasted though, and that the statement carried within it a heavy element of blame directed toward Ibe.

He's a human off the pitch. Made some poor choices in his time but he clearly has off-the-field issues he has been struggling with for some time. Regardless of what he ever does on the pitch, I hope he finds some peace off it.

    Could we? Yes.
    Should we be doing? Yes.
Will we? Come back to me at Christmas.
Reading, Bolton, Barnsley, Portsmouth, Peterborough and Wycombe are in the same boat.
We will have a small squad, a few injuries to key players is all it takes to rock the boat.
Doesn't matter how many titles we have, season ticket holders, away fans or the Premier League near misses.
We are a League 1 club and it won't be easy getting into the Championship.

I thought Nelson & Bradley looked strong and commanding at the back and young Bardell had a good game. Was nice to get a photo with Jake Rooney after signing his well deserved new contract. Great to see so many fans here in Spain COYR

One of my irritations with football is the fans who give all sorts of horrific abuse to players but get all "I'm so hurt and offended the this player who got appalling things shouted at him as said he doesn't like the group of people who just did that"

Sad day. Wish he could have stayed and gone up there with us but nothing is guaranteed and think the extra year he gave us was probably to the detriment of his development. But totally admire his loyalty, commitment and attitude.
Feel disappointed for him that it wasnt a bigger move but hope he flourishes and makes the next step up soon.
Wishing nothing but the best to him.

Sad to see him go, but it feels like the right time. He stayed around last season when he could have looked for a move, I’d like to think because he wanted to help us get straight back up, but he doesn’t want to spend another season in League 1. He’s been a credit to the club during his time here, all the best Jason.

Not at all convinced that this is a good bit of business. Jason is one of a smallish group we know are of Championship quality and I'd not have been judging his value to the squad, or potential suitors, exclusively on a poor run of games at the end of the season when nobody was was performing. To assume that's as good as he is strikes me as rash, as we could just as sensibly judge him on his run of games alongside Max, which had many of his current critics purring. His work ethic, level head and sheer determination will see him improve technically over time and I think we're moving on a player who is much better than some credit.
Equally, it's all very well to say his fee will cover wages and fees to strengthen the squad, but until the new guard have shown what they can do, it's guesswork as to whether we'll be better off. We may well be and for balance, I think this window shows a clearer vision than any in a fair old while, but it's hard for me to see us being stronger specifically as a result of this deal.
Likewise, I've seen other posts suggesting Bird and Sibley should go too, but I think midst the excitement of what appears to be a pretty considered rebuild, we'd best not launch the babies with the bathwater unless the fees offered are so generous that they render all other considerations moot. That's not the case with Jason, least not as far as I'm concerned. I do concede though, that without knowledge of what other targets we have yet to come in and the costs involved, Jason was the obvious (only) saleable asset for whom we would attract a vaguely sensible fee. Perhaps this is more critical than I suppose?
Ah well, it's all history now though, so with no small amount of regret, there's nothing left to do other than say thank you, Jason, for your hard work, spirit, loyalty and for being an all-round top, top lad. Hopefully we see you next season mate, but irrespective, I hope you go on to have a grand old career. I'd wager good money you will.*

Yeah, we aren’t in disagreement about where he currently is, but my point is that in terms of finding value and a diamond in the rough. We have a player who we have all seen with our own eyes produce at an exceptionally high standard under good coaching.
Could he go on to never recapture that form? Of course, but if I’m a manager at this level and need a player in an attacking role having seen what he’s done at an academy level and in parts at a senior level, I don’t see many better options. A 21 year old player who in my opinion probably still is the best finisher in our side.  He scored 4 goals in 10 appearances at attacking midfield last season. He won us the game away at Oxford.
I know he has to improve on so many things, but at this level if you can work on him then you have a genuine match winner already on our books. I’m never going to deviate when it comes to Sibs, because I’ve seen what raw ability he had/has and I trust he can recapture it.

Think trust is the main thing. He is easy to sub, and leave out. Partly that is his own doing but he has also been allowed a much shorter leash than many others have had over the last few years. It probably only takes him having a bad half before he is out the team for 3-4 games.
I would like to see him trusted with a run of 10 or so games in midfield / at 10 / second striker and see how he does. Even after his performance at Oxford I think he was dropped about 2 games later.
