Derby are in this position because of recruitment. Recruitment is what makes teams either successful or not.
Clubs that actually use intricate statistical data such as Brighton and Brentford have exceeded expectations because their recruitment has seen them purchase players with huge potential while selling players for big fees to fund their progress.
Clubs like Derby meanwhile just saw somebody like Nick Blackman was scoring goals elsewhere and signed him without any thought of why he is scoring goals, what his best position is and how he can fit in to Derby’s current playing style.
We broke a club record fee on a player just because he became available hours previously. He wasn’t even a target. We had no idea where he would fit in. Literally an agent just called Derby and said this player is available, and Derby said yes we will buy him.
That is why we are in the third division. No plan on recruitment. Just throwing cash around like it’s confetti. We had 5 years of careful recruitment under Nigel Clough ruined in just one summer by Mel.
XG in isolation doesn’t mean much. We beat Port Vale. We had an XG of 0.7. All that matters is we scored, they didn’t, 3 points. However, in terms of the bigger picture, statistical data plays a huge role in modern football.

This stopped me wearing one for a while (always still chucked a couple of quid in the donation tin but never took the poppy). Sick of seeing tw4ts like Tommy Robinson and his thick followers hiJack something beautiful for their own means.

… but then I went and visited the battlefields in France and Belgium. The cemeteries, the monuments and heard from survivors. Made me realise we need to wrestle back the poppy from the likes of Robinson and those EDL mugs.

Don’t agree with forcing it on the whole crowd though. Imagine being a derby fan who flies in from Derry each match to find you’re smack bang in the middle of a poppy. Particularly if you’re old enough to remember the early 70s.

I wish that the fans would take a more common sense approach on both sides of the argument.
The old saying goes, that you shouldn't get too high after a win or too low after a loss. On here that adage goes out of the window because the fans are so far away, at each end of the spectrum, a win or a loss is seen as amunition to use against the opposing view, making this forum almost unreadable at times.
Try and remember, it's just three points at stake, no more no less, and we should know more than most after what we've been through,  that its far more fun supporting a harmonious club, than a divided one.

Surely it's just that Nyambe and (possibly to a lesser extent) Fornah were holding out for championship clubs and therefore were only available once that no longer looked possible.

Bang on Dartmouth. I also agree with @Gerry Daly and would have Wilson on my list too. I know he missed a couple last night, but I think there's a serious player in there.
Also intrigued by TJJ, who could be the cherry on the cake! Anyone know when he's likely to be back in contention?

It's like "why didn't frodo just ride that fecking eagle all the way mount Doom, throw the sodding thing in from 15,000 feet and back to the shire in time for second breakfast?"
A whole season of feasting on the Roymac5 and milleniumram positive vibes far outweighs getting play offs.

I don't mind it to be honest, same with players that get dogs abuse and cup their ears when they score.
Sounds like frustration with the stick he's been getting across social media which will no doubt be fed back to him.
He's a heart on his sleeve kinda guy, just giving some back.

Surely there's nothing to moan about tonight.
Oh hang on, there's always Paul Warne, maybe he stood in the wrong place when making some of the substitutions, or had a really ugly water bottle.
God Paul Warne, eh, can't understand how he keeps his job

Donkey Derby reacted to Archied in Can anyone actually name a single improvement Warne has done since arriving?
I keep seeing this lack of interest in the academy players for the first team accusation thrown at warne , do we not realise our academy has had its heart ripped out just as much as the rest of the club ,,, perhaps we are trying to bring in young players and build an under 21 team that has a base and some stability without the need to keep pulling them into the first team for a while , from what I hear our under 21 s are getting beaten game on game , maybe there’s a thought process of building a regular competitive team there again , getting bashed up regularly is not a good confidence builder in young players to step up to first team football, we are rebuilding the WHOLE club from the brink of extinction and bare bones 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think Warne is doing a good job under difficult circumstances...which I don't need to state here ...as surely we all understand the turmoil we've been through and the millions we've wasted over  the years. Warne has a proven track record at this level and I'd be surprised if we didn't get promotion this year / next year....and yes, it might not be pretty.
If football was an exact science then at least one of those 17 managers we've had since 2007 would have achieved success for us...but no - only failure. Football fans want instant success...I get that...but it rarely happens does it. I for one want stability at my club and not this constant merry go round of management change...which has got us where we are today...coupled with a cavalier attitude to financial management....UTR

Anyone who votes not happy to 3 points, regardless how it was one, are a little strange in my point of view. Surely,  even if you get 3 points in a scrappy way is better than not getting any points. Imagine playing badly and losing.  There would be a few who would be needing sectioning.  I am not happy with the style of play at the moment.  But give me 3 points every time.  Hopefully the confidence will build and the performances will follow.

Just wanted to say, what a good free transfer Nelson is proving to be, a man mountain of a player, wins nearly all his headers reads the game well, and is forming a great partnership with Cashin.

This is my major issue,  this idea we are going to play teams off the park every week.
We bought a manager who has played a certain brand of football and got out of this League 3 times.  Surprise surprise, he seems to favour that brand of football again and today it worked. We got a goal, sat in and hit them on the break. Not luck, it was how he planned it.
It was nowhere near as ugly as its being portrayed.  It was functional and the game was pretty scrappy in general but for League 1, it was what I'd expect. Carlisle created very little 2nd half.
Hopefully with players coming back, confidence improving and understanding getting better, then the passing will click more and we will look a bit less scruffy. Add in a pacey striker and you can see how it could work.
He isn't going anywhere whilst we are in and around the play offs regardless.
I just find the unrelenting criticism tiresome but mostly because again today we were 'ok'...not the worst Derby team in living memory.

That’s not exactly what he said. He spoke quite a lot about performance and how he’s not happy with them and wants them to improve but how ultimately it’s the results that are looked back on. The context to those comments is key.

I’m reading comments on here about how we should spend £2 million on players.
Regardless of whether we sell Cashin, given that we clearly have a financially prudent owner and are only in the second year out of administration, with all of the financial limitations that this comes with, anybody thinking we’re going to drop a couple of million on a player has lost touch with reality.
If this applies to you, please wash your face in the sink, take a hard look in the mirror and come to terms with the waters that we are swimming in this year.
