Ideally we could change Smith and Hourihane out the team but don’t think we have the personnel too unless he gets really brave and plays someone like Robinson. Let’s hope Smith isn’t badly hurt but is missing for a couple of games to get Fornah in the side again just to break up that horrible midfield partnership.

i think this is the problem,we have a three stranger midfield, there isn't any partnership in it

    I'd say that's spot on

DC would be a moron to sack Warne in Mid-November with our current league position. It'd be the sort of thing we'd take the mick out of other clubs for doing.

Come Feb if we've had a transfer window and we're still this inconsistent and still not consolidated into the play-off spots then that's a different matter

and have to replace any players brought in,in jan by warne.dec has to be the cut off if results dont improve,to give a new manager a few games to asses what he needs before the window opens

You know the answer to that question. Marginal progress but effectively with nothing tangible to show. But another year of experience of the division, and hopefully better placed to launch a serious Top 2 challenge in 2024-25.

another year in this hell will do untold damage to the club, and the clubs future support, its breaking my heart seeing most of the young people walking round with trees on their shirts

Entitlement like that is very dangerous in football. You can't go in expecting to win games.

What was he supposed to have learned? Not sure I follow there. We underperformed on the day, it happens. The win at the weekend evidences that it could just be an off-day. We're on back-to-back wins in the league, why would a loss against Bristol seal his fate?

because the longer we put off the inevitable, the less of a club we become

Kind of a lose-lose though- he fields a strong team, as he did, and if we lose there's cries of ''where's the youth?''; alternatively, he fields a team of youngsters and if they get slaughtered he'd be called out for not protecting them enough. Would people really be happier if we played some kids but conceded an extra 2/3 goals as a result?

It's only the cup, we can take learnings from it, and i'm glad such a lethargic performance wasn't in the league. Really isn't the end of the world.

we thought warne would have learnt something from crewe away, but obviously not,our paul knows best.surely now another abject performance against bristol ceals his fate

We're paying Embleton's wages for the whole season and we dont even own his contract, just putting it out there. Bad luck on our part but that is the risk signing loans on full wage. All dead money now.

plus the arsenal sick note, both were massive gambles, much sooer have taken a gamble on one fit proven striker

A well deserved victory. A 3-0 win over a promotion rival. Not something we tend to do that often.

The first? If that had been at the other end we'd all have been up in arms. The softest of soft penalties. About time we got one, I suppose.

Cracking 2nd from Fozzy. Another good shot from Fozzy was the keeper parry the ball and Collo was on hand to chest it in at the far post.

Later Sibs hit the bar. Collo might (should?) have had a 3rd.

An hour into the game, I commented to the wife that things don't get much better than this. Derby winning and me drinking a bottle of Pedigree on a Saturday afternoon.

Lastly, I forecast pre game that if they came to play football we'd win. They did and so did we. Thankfully they didn't come to get physical and play "industrial" football.

collins out barnslied barnsley at a time in the game when they were falling like flies and getting free kicks

  8. as i have said somewhere before,a lot more than rock on was said at clowes tea party.there has been a completely different approach taken since, therefore i am willing to give him time to carry on whilst we are seeing an improvement, but i still feel he is likely to do something stupid and revert back to his default at any time,so certainly not  warne in untill he can convince me he has changed long term with a sustained push for the top

If he gets the English equivalent of the white hankie he’s had it, regardless of how someone ‘high up’ at the club briefed Dominic Dietrich. That’s all we have, no public comment from Clowes himself don’t forget. Oh sorry of course Warne himself has told us he has been told to ‘rock on’

We will see. I think his days are numbered

since the tea party,i think we are seeing a different warne, obviously more was said than rock on.warnes tactics seem to have taken a better direction, and we are now seeing and hearing about the youngsters, and even talking of recruitment from abroad.hopefully this can continue to improve and we can save money by not needing to get rid of warne, time will tell

With his startling ability to keep appearing out wide rather than in the box, along with his exocet placement over the bar at 100mph when a side foot into the net will do, I fear that move won't come till the summer.  He scored a good goal against Blackpool but not sure that will hold much in transfer or loan value in January.

collins wanders about chasing the ball because of what he is,a low quality worker that scores the odd goal.good strikers instinctively know where to be to score,i would love collins to work less and score more, but it aint going to happen

No way is this season a ‘free hit’. I’m surprised anyone thinks this. Warne has had all of last season to assess the squad and stamp his authority on the team/club. Regardless of any business plans, we have to get play offs this season as a bare minimum. Failure to do that and it should be bye bye.
The longer you stay in League 1, the harder it becomes to get promoted. We’d lose Bird, Cashin etc and replace them with more mediocre signings. We’ve never been in this league for longer than 2 seasons in 139 years. I don’t think we should start accepting that prospect either. It’s a poor league this year, unfortunately, so far we’re equally as average. Here’s hoping things pick up.

no way this season is a free hit,as you say, another season in this god awful league,we lose millions and become a full on 3rd division club
