I can't. It's not exactly inspiring. Why do we always sign journeyman strikers? Can't we get in someone a bit younger with a bit of pace?
Exactly, not investing properly in strikers over the last few years is one of the main reasons we are in the position we now find ourselves

Richard Keogh made one mistake and is still popular with many fans for his years of loyal service.
John McGovern was brilliant for the Rams and scored the goal against Liverpool that got us our first league championship!
Do these deserve to be more unpopular than Derek Hales and Sam Longson?
Yes Sam (reluctantly) financed Cloughie's purchases but he forced Sir Brian and Peter out in one of the darkest days in the Rams'history.
Worse decision of any chairman ever, screwed us and gave the gumps a history they should never of had

Makes me laugh stuff like this. How’s your professional football career going mate ?
Never professed to be a footballer, but you don't have to play the game to recognise talent or lack of it.waghorn was low quality as is Collins

We really are scraping the bottom of the barrel if waghorn is seen as a solution up front,he's never been a footballer let alone a striker.

Don’t think anyone is forgetting where we were. But equally football is a business governed by money.
ultimately we’re not sustainable in this division, so we need to get promoted asap. We will need to spend money again at some point, we can’t be scared of it because of it being done poorly in the past.
spending £2m on him and if he scores 25 goals and we get promoted would be a brilliant investment.
would argue that just treading water in this division is a bigger waste of money than trying to push on and get promoted.
I also realise that the best situation is arguably a compromise between the two approaches.
Prime example being the lampard season, other than a crap team selection at Wembley,we had the Chelsea loans mount and tomori, villa had Abraham, look at the difference between us and villa now

I agree. But he did say that was looking at the 22 to 32 year old bracket, but that we may sign a striker outside of that bracket.
Obviously that could be someone 18 to 21..but I honestly think it was another hint at Sharp.
Just a hunch that I've had since it was announced he was leaving his club.
I thoroughly dislike Sharp, but I would back him if he played for us.
given the bad feeling between sharp, dcfc, and rams fans,i would think the only reason he would sign is for an easy final pay day with minimal effort or ambition for the club.definate no from me.remember tyson

The decisions around our spending was already negotiated according to the RamsTrust minutes from a fans meeting a few weeks or more ago. The only thing stopping us putting our business plan in to the EFL for next season was not being sure of the league we'd be in.
So I am sure the EFL had looked at our budgeting and agreed to lift transfer restrictions whichever league we played in.
But we didn't get into the Play-offs and that's that. I'd have rather we'd taken our opportunity to get promotion but in the end we weren't good enough.
the decision had definitely been made already,it normally takes the efl months/years for such decisions as we know, but i am convinced a different decision was waiting had we have got promoted, but as you say,we are where we are so will never know
-
on reflection,i think not making the play offs has done us a favour.if we had gone up to the championship a bigger rebuild would have been needed, and i am absolutely convinced the efl would not of lifted the embargo and let us be competitive, as it is another season in league 1 is obviously seen as fitting punishment and we are now able to build for the future

There in lies the problem.
As unfashionable as it is, the ref's really can't be blamed for stopping/delaying play due to injuries (real or fake). They're damned if they do and damned in they don't.
I'd like to see:
1) Players booked if they are off the pitch but role back on in order to delay play
2) None of this nonsense with goal keepers changing their mind over which side to take free kicks from. Book them for time wasting
3) If a player goes down injured and restarting the game is delayed they should have to go off for treatment. Stamp out this miraculous recovery malarkey
4) Ref's enforcing the rule whereby substituted players should leave the field via the nearest touchline
5) Ref's issuing a warning earlier and then issuing a yellow card for time wasting at goal kicks, throw ins and goal keepers releasing the ball.
6) Substituted players forced to jog off the pitch at a reasonable speed and none of this shaking hands with the other players when they leave the pitch.
7,ban towels from the side of the pitch,if a player needs a towel to take a throw in,sow it on his shirt so he has to carry it around

I think it’s only fair to give the manager credit today because we were far better in the second half-until they scored. They looked far more up for it and deserved the win I thought. Someone else really needs to help DMcG out though on the goals front.
I was worried that the long coach journey back might affect us but have just heard that the EFL business plan dictates that we travel back by boat, so that’s that worry out of the way.

if the efl had any say in our travel arrangements, we'd be hitch hiking

Our home-grown players ( Bird, Knight Sibley) having gone backwards under Warne and its down to
way Warne wants them to play ( or not play )
this is my main concern, unless warne can get us back to a winning formula, not only are we going to have to endure another season of anti football, our crown jewels, sibbo, knight and bird, who should of been stand out players in this league, but havent been, will be worthless, thanks to warnes idea of football

a point we didnt deserve, what utter rubbish
-
this is by far the worst rubbish we have come up with this season,we cant keep them at bay for 20 minutes

How is it possible to be soe woefully up front, nothing from corners or set pieces, no one able to shoot on target.what on earth do we do in training

Eh?
i was replying to a post saying we have to look over our shoulders at Wycombe,i was merely saying they are more likly to lose matches than we are given the amount of teams that do the same as them/play them at the same game

Sounds like we were largely out-muscled for long periods. Credit to Wycombe. Ainsworth knows what they're good at and set them up accordingly. Barnsley massive now.
that rubbish should not get any credit whatsoever, time wasting and dont let the ball bounce twice should not be a tactic
-
must be a world record in time wasting, ref lets it all go
-
its been coming we were lucky at vale, but to lose to this s**** makes you sick in the stomach

jeea,no wonder they cant fill the ground, who wants to watch this

Adding waghorn or sharp or both to what we have, will not get us out of this league in my opinion.the longer we stay in this league the worse the clubs finances will get as crowds will dwindle, making promotion even harder
