Race today potentially with additional rules due to concerns over the tyres - maximum of 20 laps on a set of tyres and each driver to carry out at least 3 tyre changes - dependent upon the data coming from yesterday's sprint. Could make it a bit more interesting....

Great to have the McLarens on the front row, but this has been a ridiculous weekend so far - main qualifying after one practice session; sprint qualy with reshaped corners and little opportunity for the drivers to practice - add in the slippery track, the sand and the random gusts of wind and it's all been a bit of a lottery - I'd much rather have the drivers competeing fairly against each other than these non-stop interventions from the stewards and lap times being deleted......

There were also suggestions that it had all been originally prompted by the EU's TEN-T programme which aims to have High Speed Rail in all member countries - though Brexit has obviously blurred/removed that requirement.....

It's weird because there are a couple of posters on the forum who I've had grave doubts over whether they actually were 'Derby' at all due to their continually negative posts - I'd have thought this thread would have given them the perfect platform to set out the reasoning behind their negativity, but no - absolute silence from both - perhaps there is no reason for the things they post other than attention seeking.....

Trying not to stray into politics, but don't discount the fact that this decision appears to have been made purely in order to cause problems for the opposition - Labout have supported HS2 so far, but they now (before the next election) have to commit to finish it (to Manchester) though they will probably then need to pay for it with that same money that has now conveniently been promised to other Northern areas (a lot of whom couldn't give a toss about whether HS2 gets to Manchester) - and that's a lot of voters they might upset.
Sunak is more than aware that the money he's promising to the North is just that  - a politician's promise (i.e. meaningless) - made by a politician that knows he won't be around long enough to actually deliver - even if his ruse helps him fluke a win at the next election....

I caught a report last night which looked into the reasons for the vast overspend. There were various reasons such as inflation, need to build additional tunnels under the Chilterns, etc, but by far the most damning reason was relating to the original planning - they came up with the costs by using paper maps to plan the route - at no point did they send people out to actually survey where the track was supposed to go before the plan was put before parliament and the costs signed off - consequently, as the diggers moved in they realised that large parts needed additional works (at huge cost) to make the ground suitable to support the track. They also apparently didn't include any contignecy in the budget (which even a trainee Project Manager knows is needed - even for a simple project).
Gross incompetence (almost criminal negligence) from those tasked with planning/costing the project and also from those people giving it the green light.

Is it not time to put an end to these post match in or out polls, if you're going to swing either way based on a single result? I'm not sure what to say.
There was a famous vote a few years ago, many didn't get the result they wanted and wanted to vote again until they got the result they wanted.
This kinda stinks of that now.

This sounds like an end of season statement, not one for October. 
Not sure I've ever seen another club release anything of the kind, think we should avoid the demands for statements.

Mr Clowes is patently not an attention seeker like the previous owner. However the occasional utterance to supporters would be nice. Just to let us know how he regards the progress the club is making as we approach the quarter way point in the season. How he regards the finances, the state of the team, confidence in the manager, position on new investors, 5 year plan etc.

So sad to hear that death of the man who brought me to Derby County.
