Yes, all said and done it will be his last season at the club. If he can come back into the team and give the fans half dozen decent performances in the run in, it would really be appreciated.

It's probably facing the reality of the situation. That losing home games at this stage is another nail in the relegation coffin.

Why couldn't he stay in the UK
Why couldn't he still be around the team encouraging his mates we're all in this together and he goes on holiday

This. "independent" means what? Independent of football, the clubs, something else?
Could have a regulatory body comprising Dido harding, cressida dick, Chris grayling and Prince Harry.
Would be utterly useless, but independent. ?

The Government will remove the Football League's (and Premier league's) regulatory powers and instead create an independent regulator. Football clubs are community assets and there is every reason for the Government to do this... not least becasue a Parliamentary sub committee has already put the EFL on notice of this after the Bury debacle. It had the chance to "heal thyself", and it has spectacularly failed to take that chance.
Then we had the Tracey Crouch fan-led review and the clear indicators from Government ministers now are that the Government is minded to accept this.

But I do take your point, be careful what we wish for and an independent regulator on itself is not a panacea for all of footbal's ills.

I was in Japan in 2019 for the Rugby World Cup & the last game we saw was Ireland v Russia in Kobe. As I climbed up the steps to my seat proudly wearing my Derby top, I noticed 3 Japanese lads in the row behind us smiling - one of them pointed at my top & said 'Derby County'. Being a few beers deep, I shook their hands & expressed surprise they had heard of us - after about a minute of them smiling & not replying it was apparent they spoke no English whatsoever. But they certainly knew who we were.
As to the OP, we're clearly known as being a well supported club with a very rich history. I'd also say we have a reputation for an attractive style of play (we are a child of Clough after all) - pragmatic managers have never been popular here even if successful, Billy Davies & Gary Rowett being two prime examples.
Sad to say but we're also probably seen as being a bit of a soft touch - partially related to the way we tend to play but we do get leant on by physical sides we come up against. We also are adept at finding disaster & throwing away advantages - lot of drama at our club & always has been. Derby have certainly made for good Press copy over the years.

I kind of get where you're coming from. On the other hand it's surprising how widely recognised our club is. In my work I regularly speak to people from around the globe (Asia, Middle East, South America, Mainland Europe) and often get asked who my team is.... "you probably won't have heard of my club" I generally reply ( I imagine they expect me to say Manu, Liverpool, Mancity, Arsenal or Chelsea). When say Derby County, the majority are familiar, and not in a negative way.  Our club is not perceived as unremarkable. Just my observations. COYR

We generally are more tolerant of a playing style that's charismatic and fails than pragmatism that is successful.
The love for George Burley's side Vs Billy Davies for example.
The elusive "what could've been" moments
The humour, the stubbornness, the loyalty of the fans.
Being a respected if slightly unfashionable Midlands club.
We wear underdog so much better than we wear favourite (e.g. GSE, Clough, McClaren, innocent rise Vs QPR to becoming the Mel Morris era Derby)

    From Clough's autobiography:
Derby County should have been one of the biggest and most successful football clubs, not only in Britain but in Europe. They should have achieved the levels of triumph that Liverpool enjoyed for more than a quarter of a century. Oh yes, Derby should have been as big as Liverpool – possibly even bigger. And there is only one man to blame for the fact that they didn't reach such status: Brian Clough. To be strictly accurate, there are two culprits: me and Peter Taylor. When we walked out of the Baseball Ground in October 1973 it was the worst move of our lives. We were stupid, we were headstrong, we were stubborn and full of our own importance, but we were terribly, terribly wrong.
The day we resigned together was the day we turned our backs on the chance, if not the absolute guarantee, of turning a small-town club into a major power in European football. I honestly still believe that had Taylor and I not quit, we would have led Derby to the kind of unprecedented glory that set apart Liverpool from the rest from the 1960s onwards.

But please tomorrow get your hands from under your backside, drink plenty of “water” pre game and sing your     heart out.
Tomorrow maybe pivotal in our season.
    No time for cheap bickering.

I wouldn't sl*g those off who paid to come and watch us.  We want as many people to come as possible every game. Whether those people sing or not is up to them. That should not stop those who go every week from singing just as loud whether its 22k or 31k.

Probably circa 40 pts. We will most likely fall just short of that, as our reduced squad size catches up toward the end of the season. We won't fail due to lack of effort & commitment, that's for sure.

It is a bonus, and considering our recent form ( 1 win in 5) it's fortunate that we are still in the mix. However we have to improve quickly, and we would need to win the majority of our home games and get a fair few away draws, to get to something like 42 points. What the other clubs in the relegation fight do is out of our control, except when we play them.

12 new players don't ask for much do you. Hope you're not easily disappointed.
It will depend what division we're in but can't see anything beyond a couple of loans and a freebie tbh.
Days of wasting shed loads of money on bang average players are well gone thank God.
