europia reacted to Van der MoodHoover in Kirchner- A risk or a potential reward
Without wanting to be too political, I think you'll find the rich have been consistently increasing their share of the total wealth for ages....

I disagree in that I am always thinking of the Premier League. I don't want us ever not to have that ambition. The sooner the better. Whether CK can deliver on that is a key question for me.
Ashley has the money and the experience of running a club and his only reason for owning us would be eventually to own a Premier League club. Plus his distribution centre is in Derbyshire. I don't understand Kirchner's motivation for buying us except to rub shoulders with Rooney and receive the adulation of the fans. I hope he does have the money (but if he did he surely wouldn't need other people to buy the ground for him) and there are better reasons for him to be involved, but I don't understand what they are.

Who says that? The NCFC fans who will soon be expecting lots of players in to challenge MCFC...

It seems obvious that Ashley checked out at Newcastle...partly because of his poor relationship with the fans & partly because he was looking to sell for a number of years. That would appear to explain the lack of investment in the facilities & the 'functional' transfer budgets.
I don't think he'd want to buy Derby to have that kind of experience again & settling for midtable in the Championship (whilst better than where we are now) would ultimately cause unrest when we do get back up. My hunch is that he will fund where he needs to but will learn from the mistakes of Morris in looking at a long term strategy to get success (insist on Academy prospects getting game time, no big signings, no older players unless exceptional cost v benefit rationale). I'd be perfectly comfortable with all that.
Being a shrewd businessman, he will always have an eye on the exit & to get a decent return on investment. For a reputed investment of circa 40-50m (stadium plus creditor settlement), he would be looking at a sale close to 100m as a minimum. He wont get that for selling a midtable Championship side.

Yes, why would anyone want to relax on a gorgeous sun soaked Mediterranean beach when they could be getting drenched in the lake district? Even the most hardcore brexiteers still want their fortnight in Benidorm (well most of them....)

europia reacted to TuffLuff in Chris Coles leaving Radio Derby in July
I wouldn’t be against giving Ed the presenter role and getting a new commentator in. Ed takes a lot of criticism online, sometimes it’s fair but think he’s taken the brunt of a lot of maybe what was collective mistakes.
It’s a bit hard to explain but I think CC wants to be a sports reporter whilst Ed wants to be a Derby County reporter? And there’s a difference in how you go about each role and both have been learning as they go? Or maybe sounds a bit more backhanded than I intended but anyway.
So Ed has been the one talking to sources and probably knows a lot more of what’s going on, but because he’s got a more emotional aspect then I think it sways how he come across. So criticisms of him coming across a bit ‘I know something you don’t know’ or that he can be a bit sniping are valid, but I don’t think it comes from a bad place and his info isn’t ever really wrong (or if it is he puts his hands up to it!).
CC has kept his head down and done his work, and he’s very good at it, but as fans got desperate then Ed would be the one trying to keep everyone , informed which was an impossible task, and took a lot of criticism whilst doing it.
It’s been a bugger of a couple of seasons reporting on Derby County, especially for local journalists, they’ve essentially had to learn as they go whilst competing with national journalists for their info.
If not Ed, a wild card choice would be Ryan Conway if he was still in the area. A decent journalist at The Athletic who’s got some character, maybe just needs a few improvements with his info and things like that but wouldn’t be an awful choice if he’s trainable.

She’ll be safe. Sibbo couldn’t score in a brothel and Stretton is always injured ?

How dare you question their reputation as a fine purveyor of the news that counts?

Wayne will be happy if CK and Stretford get the club. If Ashley gets the club we could get -15 or even Div2 , and perhaps an experienced manager like Mowbray. But Ashley blew £100 million to get Newcastle out of the Championship and could possibly get us “Happy Ending” we want. It’s a tricky choice.

Gibson? Hmmm, alright for reminiscing about 'the good old days' but I think RD need someone a bit more dynamic if they want folks to listen to the programme. Chris Coles is an excellent presenter and it's no surprise he is moving onwards and upwards. Best of luck to him!

None of our business how Chris spends his free time. His life, his time, his money, his responsibility. Beggars belief that some on here have felt the need to pass judgement on him having a beer or two of an evening, both in terms of the event and the location.

Such a talented broadcaster. Clearly way too good for local radio. I assume he'll be off too BBC Sports in Manchester in some capacity, and will have a stellar career at national level. Consider ourselves lucky to have him for for time we did.

Good news, if he's going on to a bigger and more high profile platform, although he'll be a loss to Radio Derby listeners.
He's been the voice of reason for some time on Radio Derby, a great foil for Ed Dawes, and fully deserves a wider audience for his undoubted talent.
Good luck Chris, it's been a pleasure to listen to you these past few years.
