Tbh I tend to agree. I love some to and fro between supporters but some fans when we go away, and we were next to some again last night, seem more intent on just abusing the home fans than they are of supporting their team. I'm in the south stand and cringe when we're at home and it's the "you're support is..." or "you're in the shadow of....". Must be my age.

Wildsmith and Mendez Laing, without question.

europia reacted to Gee SCREAMER !! in Liverpool v Derby (A) Matchday Thread
Yes quite. All those PSG fans who turned for the champions league final were there to support their own team, as were those in Hungary last year who had to play behind closed doors.
Perhaps we could have experienced a bit of Europe ourselves in the late eighties but something happened that caused a banning order preventing us. Some club who perhaps weren't concentrating on just supporting their own team.
Memory escapes who might have caused that scenario. Can anyone help.

Spot on @jono. Remember the enquiry into the governance of football which resulted in the strong recommendation of an independent body? Yes - looked like time was up for EFL…then Lettuce ? Liz Truce came along and smacked the can way down the road …result = high fives all round at EFL Headquarters.

Fabulous building is the old liver building.
Used to be the hq of a famous old mutual insurer, the Royal Liver.
Sadly demised now of course as it, like so many, failed to survive the 1980s market deregulation.

Yes, avoiding a hammering at Liverpool would somehow be a result.

europia reacted to Jubbs in Passing the ball accurately and retaining possession
Yes, we played our best available team.
The people saying we couldn't play it on the floor because of the conditions, what about playing it in the air with the swirling wind?! You could see that from Wildsmith's goal kicks that were getting caught up in wind. Our game management was absolutely diabolical.

Yes I know. I agree - but we did control BR game. Our problem is midfield. - I’d have young Rooney playing CDM to shield the defence or better still Bielik.

Not sure all the local radio presenters being made redundant would agree with you especially when their budget is a fraction of the cost to run the BBC.
Local radio is a lifeline to many older people who would probably never use any other service as well.
Cutting back on local radio to pay for minority TV programs is a bad example.
Get rid of top ten earners in the BBC halve the wages for the other top earners all are replaceable and stop paying stupid money to guest presenters this would help save local radio.

I feel like the BBC does a reasonable job in difficult circumstances. With a remit to cover areas not commercially viable, they output coverage of local news, minority groups, non English coverage of regional and small uk nations, educational output, children's TV, specialist output like scientific programs, and more.
Those people who suggest advert driven programming, expect more like ITV than BBC. Dreadful output driven by audience share. More love island, because vacuous idiots are cheap. Less niche output, more mainstream stuff.
As for the overpaying for talking heads, that's the market they operate in. As was mentioned elsewhere, the other channels pay far more for the on screen talent such as Ant and Dec. You might object to MacEnroe being paid handsomely, but few people can offer his kind of insight.
I'm sure the BBC waste money but the examples aren't great. Sending someone to Wimbledon from Derby? Could cost some petrol and a night in a Premier Inn. Hardly earth shattering.
I like the BBC, despite their centrist bias.

There is no control.
Even in the games we have won we haven't controlled the game properly.
