1967Ram reacted to MaltRam in Derby v Carlisle (A) Match Thread
What the blooming Nora am I reading on here? For one, compared to some games thus season, I thought we carried more pace and threat.
We also won. Got a clean sheet. Nyambe looks a player. Sibbers was back. Our centre forward got four goals this week. Fornah showed a bit more. Nat had a few blistering runs.
I've been critical of Warne at times, but for gawds sake let's look at what actually happens with an open mind, rather than decide first and look to find evidence to support our preconceptions.
We won. Florist lost. Get a pint down yer.

I really enjoyed today, so I am coming to the conclusion that the result is everything!
Can't put my finger on why, but the sun shone, the locals were lovely, James Collins worked so hard and therefore deserved his two goals.
Saw lots of folks I knew, and also the players get off the bus and get back on the bus, they were honest and friendly. Whatever has happened for Vickers seems to have brought them together. I hope he's okay.
Good to see players improving their match fitness and I was pleased Carlisle had a good go at us because to come out of that with a clean sheet can only help with the defence's confidence. They all played well, particularly Nelson and Nyambe. One smart Alec asked Joe after the match about the one that went through him and hit the bar and his response was "well, I saved it!"
Our fans were great and seemed to sing louder to keep the team going until Warne put some legs on to tip the game our way (you could have done it a bit earlier, though, Paul!)
Shout out of the day to the fan who came up the road after the game, grinning at us in our Derby shirts. I thought it strange as he had a Carlisle top on, but he lifted it up to reveal a Derby shirt underneath, saying it was the only way he could get it to the game! I do hope he posts on here because it was genius!

All I can think of is Paul Warne must have been visited by the Ghosts of Derby's past last night after watching that

Mac2 was skewered by Mel wanting Rowett.

He looks like a good footballer who is a yard or two off the pace of the game. A little like Hourihane. However, one would hope that regular games would improve that. I thought he ran the game from 60 mins to 85 mins.

I thought he looked like he could be class. Has a trait that seems to be rare in our midfielders and that's dropping deep and showing for the ball. Capable passer with both feet and set pieces looked decent too. To say he was thrown into a chaotic system on Saturday that was showing very few signs of cohesion, I thought he showed some real glimpses of talent.

Not everything we want given that isn't given is a mistake. The handball claim from the shot in the second half hit his shoulder. Someone on here has a still which proves he wasn't offside.
She is one of the better refs.

One positive today was the referee. Thought she was the best we’ve had since being in League One.

I suppose you could factor in that not all Derby fans are travelling from Derby. I know it’s not going to be a massive amount, and the majority are travelling from Derby to home and away games.
But it is always worth factoring in the minority in all these scenarios like the football club does, because we are a football club that has fans that travel from all parts of the UK and from all parts of the world.
So people might be able to make away games instead of home games because they might be nearer to their home of residence eg Carlisle away for myself, keeping travel costs down etc.
Even though I’m in a minority, we are still an important minority, and the fact we all follow Derby over land and sea, and some of us are just a minority, we are Derby County and we are fkn massive!!!!

Death by passing to our own guys beats death by passing to their guys.
LR wasn't amazing but you could see what they were trying to be and they weren't that bad at being it, and LR gets credit for putting the squad together after the admin as well as sticking with the club through the admin and it was his first gig as the head coach (OK interim audition period, but he was doing the job until he wasn't).

Another great performance by this ref at pride park.
Not being sarcastic.
I moan about refs often enough so credit where due

I thought she was good. If their goal was offside, then she was let down by the assistant ref.

The matchday thread makes me laugh…
we score and its ei ei ei ei o , thunderbirds are go etc
we concede and its warne out, mel out , tits out
Zero middle ground
did someone say pompy are 17 unbeaten?
we played crap and should have taken the 3 points
the playing crap is obviously a concern as is ball retention

Fornah surely has to come off or he'll be sent off pretty quickly in the second half.
Which gives us a chance to change it up. Bring Sibley on and change it around (maybe 4 at the back, Nelson moving to right back and Smith as the lone defensive midfielder).

At last football is back, can not wait, Merlin at 12, a few pints and a bite to eat, get to the ground around 2.30PM, head up to my seat in the east stand, and watch a Derby victory, then my weekend would be complete, got a good feeling for tomorr, Pompey to lose there first game of the season.

Last time we saw her was against Cheltenham back in February when she was excellent.

The ref did not see the ball hit Wildsmiths hand/arm but he gave a penalty. Its not one of those things, its very poor officiating. You can't assume its handball, you've either seen handball or you haven't.

1967Ram reacted to RoyMac5 in Is expectation too high .
No.
Why is our expectation too high?
"Full minutes - SCG Meeting with David Clowes and Stephen Pearce 22.09.22
...Paul Warne brings experience and now is his time for a big job at a big club. Other clubs were after him, both those with and those without a manager currently. David Clowes liked how he treats players, and journalists, encouraging everyone to get the best out of themselves."
We have a budget good enough for promotion from this league and a squad with lots of Warnes chosen players in it. Although (again from those minutes) "With regards to the players we signed and his style, Paul is adaptable, but he was after some of our players in the summer. His teams are running teams and he is happy with the players he has."
So Warne was signed for his experience in League 1 promotion, we are a 'big club' and he has a squad he was/is happy with, that he has added to. He also has a good budget from the Clubs owner.
Why shouldn't our expectation be high?
