Who’s up for Salford away next year then?

Collins, without a doubt. We’ve signed him to be our main goal threat, so it makes absolute sense that he’s the one to take the penalties. Got experience with them throughout his career, with a good record too - scoring 25 and only missing 7.
Should always be the responsibility of your main striker to take penalties imo. Lawrence was a bit of an exception, as his penalty record was outstanding on the rare occasion he got to take one, but more technical players like him can often overthink penalties and be a bit dubious with them. Craig Bryson, for example - great strike on a football, but a woeful penalty taker. If Collins isn’t on the pitch for whatever reason, then Barkhuizen is probably the next best shout.

Alan Hinton has always been interested in and appreciative of the work I put in to preserve the history and rich heritage of the club going back a long time so it was a great surprise to hear from him that he wanted to send over his iconic match worn, signed white Hummel boots from the early 1970s.
He was one of the first to go against the grain and you had to have confidence in your ability to stand out to that extent, he did of course have ability in abundance and could ping in a cross from any angle with either foot, he was also top scorer in the Championship Winning season in 1971-72.
A real piece of our history.

Millenniumram got a reaction from Miggins in This year's scapegoat
Every single football club in the country will have a player fans perceive to be the “weak-link” in their team, and will thus blame any problems they have on him. Even teams doing well will have one, it’s not something that only happens here.
Last season was a bit different of course, because most fans understood it wasn’t the players on the pitch that were behind our struggles. So the “scapegoat” last season was off the pitch - Mel Morris. None of that criticism was unfair of course,  cause he absolutely was to blame for the s*** we’ve been through. It did give the players a break though as the crowd laid off them, even though some poor performances away from home, because we understood they were working their hardest.
It won’t stay that way though, no chance. That’s not how football works. Now we’re back to “normal”, we’ll have a scapegoat again. My prediction is James Collins. He’ll have the number 9 shirt, big striker signing, and people will be expecting him to live up to Chris Martin - especially a certain couple of fans who have an unhealthy, bordering on stalking, relationship with him. Collins has struggled to make an impact so far in pre season, so fans could be on his back quite quickly if he doesn’t start scoring.

    Hello friends,
I hope this thread finds you all well on this warm Sunday afternoon.
As a club, we were strong supporters of the "Save Derby County" campaign as we strongly believe no fan base or community should have to face losing their football team and we were overjoyed when our friends at Clowes UK came to the rescue. Clowes UK sponsor Matlock Town including our away strip so it's fantastic to all be part of the same football family.
To celebrate the continued links, The Proctor Cars Stadium will be hosting Derby County on Friday 29th July with a 7:45pm kick off. It promises to be a fantastic evening of celebrations as the Gladiators will wear our Clowes UK away strip for the first time ever, the Clowes UK Cup will be up for grabs and they will be in attendance and we get to celebrate together the saving and hopefully thriving existence of the club you all love.
Tickets are available now via the following link - https://matlocktownfc.ktckts.com/event/mtl2223hpre3/matlock-town-v-derby-county-u-21s
We are hoping for 2300 sell out which we believe can be made possible by two fantastic fan bases. We were encouraged by Rams fans on Twitter to add a donation ticket option for those who want to help us out but are unable to attend for one reason or another.
As a community based non league team which doesn’t have a wealthy owner we rely solely on our community to fund the club whether through gate receipts, sponsorship or donations. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you to all who took the time to read this post and we hope to see you this coming Friday.

Just shows you how many big clubs there are down in League One now. It’s no longer just no mark clubs with tiny grounds (though there do remain some of course) as people might imagine - there are clubs with real history and a lot of support down there. That’s why it’s not an easy League to get out of, and why it’s going to be a tough old fight next year.
We can still be the biggest and the best of them all though, if everyone does their part. So long as the players do their job on the pitch, in terms of challenging for promotion, then the fans will do theirs off the pitch. We will fill most of the ground week in, week out, if we’re winning most games. That’s the way it always works.

Yes besides Wednesday, Ipswich and Plymouth that I stated you've got Bolton who's ground holds 28,723 and last seasons average home attendance was 16,104. Charlton hold 27,111 and had an average of 15,592. Barnsley hold 23,287, had average of 12,784 admittedly they were relegated. Portsmouth hold 17,500 and averaged 14,444 whilst our first opponents Oxford hold 12,500 and averaged 8,463.
Last season, also under a relegated season the Rams averaged 23,010. We do have the 2nd largest stadium in this division with only Sheffield Wednesday's ground bigger at 39,752. If we start off well and continue through the season to remain in contention for a promotion spot I can see us being the best supported team in League one.   COYR

A little bit harsh, I thought he showed some good defensive qualities at times. Do get what you mean though, he got caught out of position a few times because the role is unfamiliar to him. I’m not entirely comfortable with him at LB, he’s definitely a CB and that’s where we should be using him.

I agree about the front 6. That's probably what I'd do with what is available. However I'd much rather play Roberts over Fozzy with how we are setting and in principle I don't hate the idea of trying Knight at RB.

There are other big clubs in this league who will have big attendances too - we just need to make sure we’re bettering them all, to show we’re the biggest!

Would’ve preferred to see something a bit more “round pegs in round holes” and offensive, like:
    Wildsmith
    Oduroh Davies Cashin Forsyth
    Knight Bird Hourihane
    Mendez-Laing Collins Barkuizen
Nevertheless, it’ll be good to see Smith play for the first time. Interested to see what he brings to that side.

The attendances should be big compared with the other clubs in League One, only Sheff Weds have a bigger stadium. But I do believe Ipswich have sold nearly 16,500 season tickets and Plymouth Argyle have sold just over 7,500.

Heard Scott Sinclair is on trial with us. Not from a source I know is itk so don’t shoot the messenger, but haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere else so a bit of a random one. Not the guy who told me McDonald was on trial, but who knows, they did randomly know Ryan Glover was here about a week before everyone else, so maybe they do know something…

Ultimately, I cannot tell fans what to do but I would strongly urge people not to put themselves into debt to buy a season ticket.
We are working around the clock to be able to make a breakthrough in the process and will continue to provide transparent and timely updates regarding direct debits.
As a fan myself, I know what the club means to so many of you. But, in these tough financial times, I know it is not worth getting into debt over.
I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at Saturday’s match against Leicester City.

I think “what happened” is that we discovered exactly what Man City, Liverpool and Fiorentina did - that Duncan is a clown (or insert another word beginning with C) who has an ego twice the size of his actual ability. It’s clear he doesn’t want to be here by the way he’s gone AWOL, but evidently no one else is stupid enough to take him on.
I’m sure he’ll see out the last year of his contract here without stepping foot in Derby, as his career rots away. What a waste, not the first young player to be like this either.
