I’d get that Jimmy Dunne who Burnley are releasing, if possible. Young centre back previously of Man Utd’s academy. Go on Wayne, use your contacts!

I work for an independent cinema, without the furlough scheme, I would have been out of a job a loooooong time ago.

Didn’t he say the same about Max Bird as well? Rooney’s man management might need improvement.

I would prefer the deal to be signed and sealed and have EFL approval before being announced to the fans. This will avoid 100’S of pages of speculation. The main thing is to get it completed on time to have a good pre season and transfer window ( if no embargo). Transfer activity will be delayed because of the Euros which will buy some more time.

Yeah, I get you. What I meant that all these clubs selling their stadiums to balance the books is a symptom of a bigger problem. The EFL twiddle their thumbs while clubs go down the drain. It's clearly not solely their fault, but they are certainly partly responsible.

The premier league spends billions with abandon yet the leagues aspiring to join this ‘elite’ are kept in their place, ensuring a gulf in quality exists between the two.

It’s not Football Fair Play. It’s cronyism protecting the top teams.

I hate FFP as much as the next man, but I don't think the "shackles" implemented by the EFL are what are causing the damage. Mel has known the rules since he purchased the club and has only himself to blame for the failure to stay within those rules. Limiting spending is not going to put your club at more risk - it might make it a lot more difficult to get promoted, but I can't see how its going to make anybody go out of business. If we'd followed the rules and not tried creative ways to get around them we would be fine.
The fact that the EFL has done basically nothing to help with Covid and is actively punishing clubs who have yet to file their accounts is the main issue for me at the moment. They are completely out of touch and frankly I don't think they will be happy until they have destroyed a few more of their member clubs entirely.

I may be misunderstanding but i have always had the feeling if it wasnt for the restraints of FFP/P&s Mel would continue to fund and actively still be trying to secure promotion.
Its the shackles the EFL have implemented in an attempt to protect clubs that are actually causing damage, and potentially putting clubs at risk, not because owners dont have the funds, but because they wont let the owners spend it.
Do the EFL actually want clubs to go out of business? It actually seems that way with the rules they have in place. They are very poor custodians of the football league and really need to take a step back and decide what it is they are trying to do.
When it comes down to appealing over the way something is written on paper then for me it shows they do no have the best interests of the game in mind.

There is certainly plenty of options. A guy i worked with was a die hard forest fan but he moved to Northwich in Cheshire and started going to watch them and really got into it, it didnt stop him being a forest fan, i dont think it means you are being 'unfaithful' if thats the right word lol.
I am actually considering going to watch Cleethorpes Town when they play around here, if i dont get a season ticket again, they will have a few fixtures that would be reasonably local to us round here, for no other reason than i used to work with their current manager so i look out for their results anyway.

    Love this! ?
I recently moved to Abingdon and have considered taking in some of the delights of non-League football round here. I was shocked to discover recently that Abingdon Town FC were established in 1870!

I have two reasons for going to watch Derby, firstly im a Derby fan but secondly its the time i get to spend with my Dad, hes been making noises about not renewing anyway, he doesnt like whats involved with getting away as its so busy, so its crossed my mind that ill take him to some non league games just to spend that time and have a beer after like we used to. I guess id do that if the club folded, i cant imagine just switching to another club, i guess that might build up over time
I think you are right there would be a Derby County of some description, no doubt would be a wild ride watching them from non league, i am quite envious of clubs like afc wimbledon, when they got in to the league it must have been such a fantastic moment for their fans.

Would never support another club. Would either watch the reincarnation of the Rams or dip in and out of local clubs like Mickleover Sports and Matlock Town that I have an affinity with.
Might pop to the odd local game with my mate who follows a couple of clubs.
I would cancel Sky Sports during the football season as have no interest in other Prem or FL clubs

I could never support (like properly support) another club. I don't think I could stop following football entirely either - I still play Sunday league at 52, so there must be something about it that keeps me coming back. So that leaves the general football fan option, generally supporting my fantasy PL picks to get as many points as possible. Wouldn't be the same though. Let's hope it never comes to that.

I'd probably stop watching football, but give a passing glimpse to Torquay United.  I have had a soft spot for them since I watched them quite a few times in the 1960s

I always think of Notts County as my 2nd team - both my Dad and Father in Law played for their reserves, so I'd probably follow them a bit more closely and make a couple of trips to Meadow Lane.
I assume though, that we wouldn't have long to wait before we had a Derby County phoenix club to follow...and then I'd become obsessed with AFC Derby County.
