Andrew3000 reacted to Bris Vegas in Derby County vs Middlesbrough
Derby have been the better team here.
Our midfield has dominated. Max Bird showing class again. Sibley hasn't been in it, while Forsyth must have committed about seven fouls in that half. Boro haven't threatened at all.

Sounds like Shinnie is having a good game

The space that Morrison finds himself in is second to none. I don’t remember the last player we had that was this willing to find some space and get on the ball wherever he can. Dictating the game here ?

My first game back since March 2020
Figure that’s my longest break from Pride Park since I was probably 7/8 years old.
If you’re on the fence about going, bloody get down there, life is too short. How often do you get to see Robin Williams’ seminal Mrs Doubtfire and Wayne Rooney going head to head on the touchline?

So I'm not killing people after all?
How disappointing.

Then, before you know it, it’s a mandatory annual jab, then it won’t be on NHS, which is slowly being disassembled, and the pharma companies are raking in billions in unnecessary vaccinations every year like they do with sponsored prescriptions in the USA. Just like the ‘conspiracy theorists’ were saying 18mths ago!

Well done to Forest for beating a team who literally are not allowed to sign players, to signing a player. Propaganda in full flow.
”tried everything” evidently except the thing that would actually allow players to be signed, so not everything at all.

I hate the term “luxury player”. I’m a firm believer in the Danny Blanchflower school of thought “Hoddle a luxury? It’s the bad players who are a luxury!”

Rooney clearly gave brady1993’s tactic thread a little look earlier today

Jagielka may not be a Rolls Royce but he is a vintage Jag.

Baldock more mobile that I expected. Joz having his best game for us. Davies very solid. Jagielka much needed addition with Bird playing with confidence. Roos playing well. Such an improvement. Very watchable at last.

I'd rather we went down trying and playing like this than the defensive crap we have seen up to now under Rooney.
This is much better Wayne,we just need a goal.

Andrew3000 reacted to Raich Carter in Phil Jagielka & Richard Stearman - Both Signed
Thing is, if Jags himself didn't think he had anything to offer, why would be bother to keep playing? He's made enough money to not need to play and probably had lots of offers to play lower league stuff so I'm leaning towards this being a good thing... optimistic fool that I am.
Not so long ago, a 32 year old was about finished, let alone 39! We now have Ronaldo at 36 as top scorer in Serie A, Ibra still being in the top 10 players in the world at 39 and Chiellieni at 37 still bossing things at the back for Italy. With sports science having moved on and players taking more care of themselves, their careers are much longer than previously.
Let's face it, we could do with a bit of luck so Jags doing a Paul McGrath would be a god-send this season.

That should only be the case for the next 2/3 games. Once the accounts are in we should be able to play Cashin and LThompson... maybe in time for the cup?

Andrew3000 reacted to BaaLocks in What would you give for that 20 goal striker
Hey, I'm old enough to remember when Weimann wasn't good enough, Bamford was just a pretty boy and Russell was all huff and no end product. Oh, and Harry Wilson was a bit of a luxury.

Andrew3000 got a reaction from Angry Ram in Tactics; Intent and Execution
Well, my point is why would we have this tactical intent when we don't have the personnel? For the cbs You address how we might improve comfort using the ball but not pace. Only Mengi is quick and we haven't been able to get him.
It is an interesting piece and if correct makes me worry that Rooney isn't being pragmatic enough with what's available.

I don't think we are too far away from it working, especially if Rooney gets the signings over the line he clearly wants to. Whether it's the best plan we could be doing is a whole different question. I think it has merit and better thought out that would you could see at a glance (and a damn sight better tactically served up last season). But it's success long term hinges on the three behind the striker and Lawrence in particular producing more than he has done which isn't the gamble I'd have personally made.

Agree that Bird and Shinnie does not work. Needs to be either or..
Be tempted to try Ravel in RHS DM role with Hutchinson in LAM place.
