I've heard of one or two players who are unhappy that they don't get invited back enough, but some of them expect freebies every time.
I have a certain sympathy for the players from the 70s and before, but after that, we paid good wages, and probably have less money to spend on this sort of thing than we did prior to administration. How many ex-players have we? Something like 1800, although many no longer with us.
I like that we invite people back when there's a reason e.g. anniversary of a promotion etc but otherwise, most players could afford to pay for their day in hospitality!
Not saying Mel Sage falls into this category, btw, and it was good to see him.  We were the highest level he played career-wise, so he probably deserves his day out.

I'm not so sure about that. The way most teams set up to play us, the midfield area tends to be compressed so that playing through the opposition requires near flawless 1/2 touch football and strikers with pace off the mark. I'm not convinced that we've had the right players to play that way, particularly with injuries to Bird, JJ and Gayle for long periods. If you've got any evidence to back up that claim, I'd be interested to see it.
I think it's more likely that if we'd not shown rare defensive flaws at key times in certain games (Wigan, Portsmouth, Charlton, Wycombe, Peterborough & Shrewsbury at home, Northampton, Cheltenham, Barnsley and Shrewsbury away, for example) and took even a small % of the great chances that we've missed, we'd be anything between 10 and 20 points better off, but that would be expecting L1 players to be as consistent as elite players.

If we’d played football and used midfield all season instead of “whack it wide and cross it”, we’d have been top yonks and yonks ago.

I never said he didn't sign any technical players or doesn't play them. Every team needs some players with ability, you can't win anything with 11 cloggers.
McGoldrick, Sibley, NML, Hourihane, Barkhuizen, Bird are all players he didn't sign, and he obviously can't sign a whole squad, so he's played them. He had to play McGoldrick and NML they were/are too good for the division. Bird has been sold and the others are having their contracts ran down.
He often came out after games saying we had no bite or aggression in midfield when playing with Hourinhane and Bird.
He has signed physical players and technical players, but you can see by the way he sets up and the way the team plays, he's swinging towards the physical side of the game. Record set piece goals is an indicator of that. Run more than the opposition first, technical stuff second.
When Ward, Wilson, Nyambe all fit, Nyambe played. No one knows what type of player embleton would have been. JJ when fit, was second or third choice and CBT can hardly get a game because he's not fit enough for Warne ball.

Yep, and if that opinion is something like "that line-up alone is a sackable offence", they deserve to have the p*** ripped out of them when it blows up in their faces, no?

I don’t like the rails which gave been put in/imposed - space is much more cramped, and they are actually at waist height so should be moving forwards into them you simply spin forwards and drop down head-first into the next row down!
It makes going down for a pint or a pee much more hassle, and we have to fight our way past those season-ticket checkers lying in wait at every opportunity!
    But apart from that ……….

To clarify, what is your objective case to support your assertion that he is still worthy of the title calamity Bradley?
Not whether he is as good as Nelson or Cashin (I don’t think he is and I have never said he is).
Not based on opinions which, by definition, are subjective not objective.

Not on his record for the whole season. I said right at the start “since he’s put those early blunders behind him”.
Not that he is more likely to make a mistake than Cashin or Nelson (although this is a subjective opinion in itself but I think is true) but that he’s more likely to such an extent to justify the label calamity.
I also think he has made more mistakes (per game time) than either Cashin and Nelson (although I suspect neither of us have the actual stats). Out of the three, he would be a distant third in my pecking order simply because he isn’t such a good footballer and makes mistakes (as all footballers do) but not enough now to justify such name calling.

A great team performance which resulted with a win and three important points, compounded by the results elsewhere.
A number of posters have stated Orient were poor. But how much was down to our own performance?
If we had come out with the wrong mindset, yesterday's result could have easily gone the same way as the Northampton or Wycombe game.
Just hope, for the sake of my sanity, it will be yesterday's team that turns up for the games against Cambridge and Carlisle and not the one that came out of the tunnels at Northampton and Wycombe.

Fair play to the Orient fans BTW. Came in good numbers for a (for them) nothing game, 2-0 down by half-time and their team hardly venturing over the halfway line, but they stayed the courser and made a noise, giving some witty responses to the South Stand. Hope they do well next season.

DavesaRam reacted to Sam_Brown in Pompy fan here. We drew with Bolton today. Rest is down to you guys.
Think Portsmouth and Derby going up is the best result judging the season as a whole. Both too big for this league anymore. Hopefully the draw we gave Bolton today (tbh they could be right to feel bad not to take all three points) will be enough to get you guys over the line.

Good result for you guys. Hopefully see you in the championship next season.

Backed the winner on the national, ✔️
2 numbers on the lottery, free lucky dip, 😂✔️

Firstly, the ratings you have provided do not suggest he is significantly weaker or prone to mistakes than the others. For example, most of us think Nelson is a contender for player of the season and yet his rating is only 0.4 above Bradley’s.
Secondly, if you read my original post you’ll see why I’ve excluded his first few games. I said, once he’d got over those early jitters and fought his way back into the team he had been OK and played well most of the time (or words to that effect). Whereas to label him as Calamity Bradley kind of suggests he has an ongoing problem. He may not be an upgrade on Davies and I don’t take exception with you holding that view. What I did take exception to though was the label you have attached to Bradley.
I wasn’t aiming the comment about Keough specifically at you but I think it’s undeniable that some folk continued to use the phrase “there’s always a mistake in Keough” simply because of that Wembley incident whereas, in reality, he probably didn’t make any more mistakes than most.
P.s. Regarding the Reading game, although it is only a tiny sample size, it seems pretty much everyone that rated the players for that game on this forum gave him a 6.5 or thereabouts.

You don't have to apologise to me, everyone is allowed their opinion and I certainly don't believe mine is any more valid than yours.
Just think it's sad to see so many of our supporters clearly not enjoying what could turn out to be one of our best seasons, for so many reasons, in the last 50 odd years.

Apologies if my opening statement was a little deflating. I tried, rather poorly it seems, to provide a contrast with how it looked with how it turned out. However, after Wednesday night, we we stood on the threshold of making automatics secure, and not only let the door slam in our face, we slammed it in our own face. Yes, some of the players didn't turn up, but most of that failure was down to tactics, hence ethe caution. But what a turnaround. Instead of running scared of the opposition and surrendering a load of territory, we put in a most accomplished and secure performance. It wasn't Stevie Mac 1 stuff, but we had way too much for Leyton Orient and played like it. After Wednesday, who'd have thought it?
