Why? There are no insults of individuals here, just an observation of one of the factors that cost us dearly at Northampton.

Hi Duracell, we have a pair of ideal seats for you, we picked the seats because we're close to friends on the opposite side of the aisle.
We're stair 41, row kk, seats 398,399 immediately next to the aisle in the lower east in line with the edge of the centre circle on the south stand side of the half way line. Row kk is about 4 rows down from the entry stairs and the seats are on the right as you walk down to them.
We could meet you at the bottom of stair 41 in the concourse or you can just let me know your seat numbers.

    Hi everyone,
My Dad, a life-long Derby fan and season ticket holder, recently suffered from a stroke which left the right side of his body paralysed. Up until it struck, he had made the 200-mile round trip from Aylsebury to Derby
His progress has been remarkable since - he can how walk short distances and has gained a lot of mobility.
I would love to take him to the final game of the season with Carlisle to see out the journey. I would be devastated for him if, having supported us through thick and thin all his life right up until the stroke, he missed out on us winning promotion. This is where some of you could potentially help.
Our season tickets are about as difficult as it could be for someone with mobility issues: East Stand Upper, on the half-way line, half-way between stair wells. I'm just not sure I can safely get him up there with a capacity crowd.
I am only asking having tried to arrange disabled viewing with the club, who cannot help as the game is sold out. Does anyone sit in a lower block, close to a stairwell, who would be willing to swap seats just for this game? I'm only asking as this is a final plea!

Good point. Having more than one route to goal. I don’t mind getting it wide and crossing it in if it works. But at the same time, if their defenders are winning everything in the air, trying through balls for a pacey wide men could pay dividends. The odd bobble could massively help put off the retreating defenders.

He does have a point though…. If we just keep going down the flanks then Cambridge will just double up and shut us out..

    Very Probably Not.

If their defenders are dominant in the air, then get the crosses in hard and low behind the defenders, then get a nick off an attacker or a defender facing the goal.

Agreed and Bird has proved pretty consistently that he is fully focused on the Derby cause until he leaves and I imagine would absolutely love to be part of two big wins to close out his Derby career.
Anyone questioning his commitment to Derby is way off the mark IMO.

More about being aware that the bounce and run of the ball is unreliable. Overplaying on a bobbly surface can be as frustrating as having cross after cross headed away by dominant defenders. Put pressure on their defenders and hope that the surface causes them more problems than it does us. It's not a day for passing around at the back. On a narrow pitch, the middle is a difficult place to play through a team, even on a flat surface. They'll regard a point as satisfactory, so I expect they'll play ala Northampton and hope to nick a goal - we have to make sure they have to work harder for one than NTFC did that day.

Hope you have a great weekend bluebry, enjoying the Derby promotion party !

I don`t think I`d mind any team going up, by beating us, if it didn`t affect our own league ambitions.

Except Leeds, of course. I`ll forever enjoy seeing them fail.

Excellent post. I think he is an intelligent guy and has gradually worked things out. Expect it to continue into next season.

With Warne's managerial background being at Rotherham (no disrespect to Rotherham intended) his managerial tactics evolved based upon managing a smaller club, less resources, less player-pulling power and often being the underdog  in any football match. As such his tactics were based not on how can I get my team to out-pass / outplay the opposition, but more on how to counter them. I suspect that he didn't have that much experience of matches where teams would try to counter his tactics.

I think this year we have seen Warne growing as a manager, we still see that he sets up his team to counter the strengths (real or supposed) of opposing teams, and also he has struggled where teams are countering our play of getting the ball wide by doubling up on our wingers.
However, he is becoming more rounded in his tactical approach, with a lot of the play being along the floor or attempted pin-point long balls down or across to the wing.
Yes, we still hoof it, but only when a side effectively closes us down.
I was sceptical of Warne when he first came, in fact I started the first thread questioning his tactics after his debut home game and whether our possession-based team could deliver them, but this season (more so than his first) he has learnt and developed how to progress from managing a smaller football club with limited expectation to a bigger club with a high expectation level.

I am hoping for the same development next season if we get promoted, especially starting to mix it up in the midfield area which we will definitely need in the Championship.

Just to be clear as I don’t want it to be misconstrued, my reply to you wasn’t personal, it was meant as conversation and debate as others have been advocating for the last couple of days. You feel one way about this season (scraped in), I feel another (earned it but could have made it far smoother an experience overall if we’d put certain teams away) and was explaining my thoughts, wasn’t intended as a dig or anything so sorry if that’s how it came across

Fair enough, that is your take on it, see @Nuwtfly post about 'enjoyment'. I enjoyed last season more, that is my take on it. I can't be bothered to explain why it will only lead to more personally anti posts about me rather than the football.
I'll be happy to be promoted, and now I'm looking forward to next season. #COYR
