Rumoured to be a dozen wanting out from Old Trafford so plenty to choose from - Ronaldo, Fernandes, Lingard, Martial etc ..... knowing our luck we'll end up with Maguire (or worse still, Fred).
Getting on a bit but I’d probably take Ronaldo from that list, he’d probably still be able to do a job for us short-term. Stumbling block would be wages, I’d imagine he’d be on at least £5k a week

If we stay up because three other teams get points deductions then I’m giving up on football.

A bigger impact than Igor Stimac without a shadow of a doubt.
He’s an absolute hero in my book £4.5k a week giving his all to a likely doomed (when he signed) team when he could surely get double that sat on the bench for any other team in this (or above) league

As I understand it we need Mel sweet to gift the stadium to us, as soon as T’s are crossed and I’s are dotted then we can really judge Mel’s tenure

He’s scored 3 goals recently that raheem sterling would be proud of. His work rate has improved since he became captain and he has had one game in the last 6 where his effort was superb. If he thinks he has a direct route to goal, he’s 100% on it - unless it requires a robust aerial challenge. But works his socks off??? Knight works his socks off. Tommo works his socks off. Curtis works his socks off. Shinnie does most of the time. Joz does most of the time. CKR used to. We are going down unless we see the very best of this squad and the management team for 90 mins of the next 20 games And have a healthy slice of luck
Lawrence is not consistently doing enough imho, epecially given he’s captain.
A half-bothered Lawrence in the hand is better than two Joz's in the bush

We have potential buyers lined up. If I was a potential buyer I really would not be happy at all of the clubs assets were being sold at silly prices.
It's purely my opinion but I think that list of buyers lined up might include Rammie, Tracy Shaw and Tosh from The Bill.

I suspect we’ll see some player sales in January, some to free up/reduce wages, some to generate income.
Knight is arguably our most saleable asset, he’s young, a full international, offers versatility and athleticism. As much as I would love to see him stay, objectively I think it makes sense to cash in on him. One of the few areas we have strength in depth is central midfield, currently Knight is being shoe horned into the side out of position. IF there are multiple teams interested and IF we could get anything close to £5m for him it makes sense to sell for the survival of the club.
That money can then be used to service some of the debt, pay wages till season end etc, we would lose a talented young player for sure, however the team as it stands would be able to continue without a catastrophic impact on the starting lineup.None of us know for sure what will happen, maybe we won’t have to sell, maybe the takeover will go through, I guess we can’t really rule anything in or out. ?
sickening that selling our biggest asset will only cover less than 10% of our debt, a mere drop in the ocean.

By the workings-out on Transfermarkt the players out of contract at the end of the season include:
Marshall
Buchanan
Lawrence
Shinnie
Byrne
So we get less than a pittance for them in January or they walk away for free in May.

I can't see any of them wanting to play in League One

Went to two that season - 3-2 v Portsmouth and v 3-0 Reading. Then next season win v West Ham and a draw with Southampton after the Man U win I think. So not many games at that stage but I got used to Derby winning or at least not losing!
Me too mate, first game was free tickets from Richie Williams football training against Southend Utd (think it was 0-0, only remember Ricky Otto), must have been 1994/95 followed by a whole load of games the following season, when we were winning obviously

First match... January 96. Top of the league v Reading. Won 3-0 Derby fans singing ‘we are top of the league.’ The worst thing was the view- I was too small. Could barely see. Loved the experience. The smells, the match day programme, the walk to the ground, the noise. Brilliant.

I think Tom Lawrence cerianly has the talent, but at the moment he is one of our only assets with any real value who we can sell.
…at a cut price in Jan or whoever is buying can wait until the end of this season and get him free.
Sad state of affairs when the best we can hope for is letting him go for free with the aim of just reducing our wage bill.

Like it or not at the moment he is our talisman.
If willing I would still try and renew his contract with a fair release clause. Would be an unbelievable asset in L1.
Not a chance, he's coming up to his prime playing days at the end of a contract on high wages and could probably get into most teams in the Champ.
I get that we have stood by him through thick and thin and made him integral to the team by giving him the captaincy but League One is not the place for him. If he stayed/signed a new contract then I would drop my (unfounded) dislike for him and hail him the new Messi(ah).

Getting a bit tired of these youngsters getting 5 years use of state of the art facilities, coaching, nutritionists, educational welfare assistance and top end end injury treatment and contracts which they get at the expense of another would have loved it, then pissing all over it . Wish him nothing but a crap career. Sounds bitter, it should.

I just saw the one highlight .. where he came late in to the box like a seasoned centre half of old and banged a bullet header in. He just looked so right in strength, positioning, timing and execution that in my fevered Roy of The Rovers imagination I have decided he is going to be a legend .. somewhere between Harry McGuire and Bobby Moore
Absolutely! That’s also about as much of him that I’ve seen too but I love him already (think he did some funny Twitter/Instagram posts too when he was bored).
Reminds me of Micheal Johnson in stature, perhaps a little short but makes up for it in width!

Petition to put this Petition to not petition to strip Mel of his CBE thread into the Petition to strip Melvyn of his CBE thread.
I did think that I should put it in that thread but it would just bump that thread to the top again and appear to any journos/other supporters/etc. etc. that we as a fanbase were in support of stripping the CBE.

I get the anger at him getting to walk away scot-free from this mess he's created (albeit £200MILLION of his own money lighter) but c'mon he's not Pol Pot, he's not embezzled or even done anything remotely illegal. Perhaps slightly immoral as it's put jobs at risk/forced redundancy.
The MBE was for services to business and charity, he's not exactly demanded all his charity money be repaid to him. This business (already loss making when he bought it and funded by his own money) has failed undoubtedly but that does not erase his past contributions to other business?
The petition to strip his CBE from him is petty and misguided and the small minority who have actually signed it tars the entire fanbase with looking like spoilt children.
