Hey, turning 40 isn't the end.  I recently turned 54 and, yeah I don't do some of the more physical stuff I used to but I can honestly say I still live life to the full.  I have an awesome family, I have some great friends, play golf, watch live sport, in fact I probably do more now than I did 20 years ago.  I'm sure if you could ask her, the Queen would argue that she still had some of the best years of her life turning 90.

Out and about today so relied on phone updates. Must confess to feeling gutted that WW took the lead thinking that we simply must not lose to that bunch of {insert expletive of choice}.  Was absolutely delighted at the come back. The tactical switch was spot on.  7th going into the break, despite some distinctly average performances of late, you can't complain. Delighted.

Not often you see a tactical change yield such resounding and immediate benefits. The switch to a back three and a more active midfield was quite literally transformational asnf I think Liam has answered his critics in the best way possible. I'm 'absolutely delighted' for him and I'm sure all those who have spent the week slating him, will now give credit where it's due. Don't worry,
Not one but 3 standouts today, Barks is a serious player and seems to be settling in really well. Hourihane is a maverick with a magic left peg, pure class today. But for me, the MOTM goes to an unheralded and unsung hero. Joe Wildsmith, take a bow son. That was a performance of which Mart Poom would have been proud.

The crux for me is allowing the EPL U21 sides in.  I like the idea of a competition allowing those teams outside the EPL to compete and win, especially those lower down who are scrapping for survival as it is,  but to have a set of rules dictating to EFL sides that they have to include x amount of first team players, or face a fine, but to then allow the likes of Man City to field an U21 side - it's smacks of yet more hypocrisy.   But where football is concerned, whilst it's run by the EFL and the FA, I shouldn't be surprised.

The frustrating thing is yet again sport is being called out whilst many other events proceed.  You can go to the theatre, have a minute's silence then laugh raucously to The Play that Goes Wrong.  Is that respectful?
EFL and PL postponed "out of respect".  Horse racing too, today and tomorrow.  Rugby Union and Rugby League are going ahead, but observing a minute's silence and wearing black armbands out of respect. As is Ice Hockey. We await a decision on the PGA Golf (which I have tickets for tomorrow). Ben Stokes said that he wants "...the rest of the match to be played in “the Queen’s memory” and he's got his wish as this goes ahead.  As does the T20.
I raised a glass in her memory last night. More than one as it happens.  I'm genuinely sad she's gone, more than I actually thought I'd be. I will also raise a glass or two on the day of her funeral but personally I'd rather attend an event and pay my respect with a minute's silence.
The Queen was passionate about all sport, not just horse racing.  If you could ask her I bet she'd say "Don't be silly, go ahead and enjoy yourself".

So the PGA has decided to resume tomorrow, which on a personal level I am pleased about and will happily attend.  They have said that flags will remain at half mast throughout the course, and they are to make black ribbons available for attendees to wear, an offer I'll take up. They are also halting play at 0950 for 2 minutes' silence across the venue and showing King Charles' proclamation on screens in the Championship Village at 10am.  In my view this is a good example of "carry on" whilst still showing respect.

    Phillip came to me today,
and said it was time to go.
I looked at him and smiled,
as i whispered that "I know"
I then turned and looked behind me,
    and seen I was asleep.
All my Family were around me,
and I could hear them weep.
    I gently touched each shoulder,
    with Phillip by my side.
Then I turned away and walked,
    with My Angel guide.
    Phillip held my hand,
    as he lead the way,
to a world where King's and Queens,
    are Monarch's every day.
I was given a crown to wear
or a Halo known by some.
    The difference is up here,
    they are worn by everyone.
I felt a sense of peace,
my reign had seen its end.
70 years I had served my Country,
    as the peoples friend.
    Thank you for the years,
for all your time and love.
Now I am one of two again,
    in our Palace up above.
