I like most on here have watched years of football and seen thousands of players but sometimes you don't appreciate how good a player is until he plays for your team.
Nathaniel Mendez Laing falls into that category for me. I've always considered him a bit of a flighty player who is largely anonymous, a bit lazy but who might get you an occasional goal. Having now watched him for a dozen or so games I think that he is a quality player, with bags of skill, a team ethic and who isn't afraid to work his socks off. I'm surprised how many of our goals he seems to be at the heart of.
In my opinion he is probably our signing of the summer and if we are going to be successful it will be due, in a large part to him.

The world's best U21 side would be mid-table in the PL.
Generally speaking, England age groups are at the following level of ability:
England U21s - Upper Championship to lower PL
England U20s - Mid to Upper Championship
England U19s - Upper L1 to Mid Championship
    Man City had a full international at CM, and 1x U21, 2x U20, 3x U19 and 3x U18.
Three or four of the U21 team have been in several Man City squads this season.
I'm willing to bet at least half of that team we just lost to will be playing Championship football next season.
Wigan, Ipswich, Wycombe, Hull, Portsmouth, Plymouth, Sunderland and Rotherham have all lost to U21 sides over the past 3 seasons. All have either won promotion during that period, or are in a very good position to do so this season.
All things considered, it's not a disaster for our second string 11 of players needing match fitness to lose to a very good U21 side.

I watched the game and whilst Brighton would have won if they hadn’t selected a goalkeeper and used a extra forward instead the Red dogs got the point they hoped for but Brighton missed an awful lot of chances

Can’t say one way or the other but I’m sure there far more around us than we see, feel or understand
    ok here goes
when my daughter passed away we had her ashes , we put them in the wardrobe and they were there for months a combination of not sure where to scatter them and perhaps not wanting to let them go , then our dog started to wake us with a bark in the middle of the night and he would be just sitting staring at the wardrobe, this went on for a few weeks and we were quite uncomfortable with it ,
we decided that I would take her ashes and scatter them on Dartmoor as she loved it there and as a horse lover she loved the ponies, it was the strangest day I’ve ever had , I went on my motorbike and it was horrible day , raining and cold , I got lost and stressed and ended up on little lanes all closed in with hedges and trees then I just had a calmness come over me and rode on feeling I was being lead ,I emerged from the lane to bright sunshine rolling hills and a group of ponies half way up the hill , I parked the bike and walked up the hill to a large rock and scattered the ashes ,sat down on the grass leaning on the rock and fell asleep for two hours ,
Was I lead ? maybe it was just emotion who knows but it was was the strangest sensation I’ve ever felt and gave a lot of peace when I woke

I wrote this the other day but never posted it.
A good few years ago we moved house, Sister(Debbie)and Brother in Law helped us with the move, Debbie had Crohns Disease, It never stopped her leading a good life, All went well and Pizzas all round, Debbie was booked into the DRI for a blood transfusion the following week, She settles down and talks to her fella, Seconds later she shouts "Gary I'm going" Gary being her then Husband, She passed away within seconds, The transfusion dislodged a blood clot which travelled and Calked her heart.
Funeral done and dusted, A few days later while asleep in my bed I woke up to see Debbie at the end of the bed, No more than a few seconds, Was I dreaming, Or was it something else, I never felt comfortable after that in the house, We moved a couple of years later.
    Makes you wonder ?‍♀️

Yep, had several experiences over the years.  Once playing pool in a cousins house.  Early evening. No-one else in the room.  Ready to take a shot and an icy wall of air came across me so much so that I could suddenly see the breath coming out my mouth.  Scared the poop out of me. As I ran down the corridor to tell everyone, I saw a blue light shoot up the stairs.  On revealing everything, I was calmly told "Oh that's just Flo, she's harmless".  Purported to be an old lady who'd killed herself in the bath some 100 years before.
Another recent one is my old cat.  Had him for 19 years. Died last year, yet we still see flashes of him in our peripheral. We do have other cats, but they're always accounted for when it happens. Best one was coming home in the car, reversing into the drive.  Saw what we thought was our current black cat stand up on the windowsill, stretch, then jump down, exactly like my old cat did.  Thing is, all the doors to the hallway were shut so it couldn't have been one of our current cats.  Before I said anything, my youngest exclaimed "Did you see that, it looked like Bilbo jumping down". Before I'd said anything, so it wasn't just me who saw it and I didn't lead her to say anything first.
IMO there's definitely something, not that I can explain it.

I’ll be one of the first to admit I wasn’t exactly enthralled by the idea of having Wildsmith as a number 1 when he signed. I’m sure many others will be in the same position.
I was expecting and hoping another keeper to come in and that Wildsmith would be a good back up, but obviously that never happened.
I think he’s been excellent this season and is yet to really make a glaring error. For a keeper that’s spent most of his career as a substitute, I think he’s stepped up brilliantly.
He’s been one of our better additions this summer, I feel like he deserves some recognition for how he’s started his time here with us.

Would we swap positions with Forest now if we could? Think you could make a strong argument that we are set up better now for the next 4 or 5 seasons.
The main thing they have going for them is they can use their other club to cheat FFP and the transfer system.
On the downside, they are staring down the barrel of relegation, a squad full of disinterested expensive players, a gangster of an owner who will surely get caught out eventually, a massive wage bill and transfer fees to fund, a rundown ground they don't even own, a fataliatic fan base who deep down know they have properly screwed it up etc etc.
Conversely, I like our direction of travel, everyday is something of a blessing vs the last few seasons. It's not a huge stretch to see us challenging for promotion into the Prem in about 3 or 4 years, with Forest looking at severe financial problems and relegations. And that's if their crook owner doesn't just f off and leave them even more in the lurch. He doesn't seem that trustworthy.
